This magnificent heritage house, with several bedrooms, was quiet when we were there some time before 'the season' started, so we had the attention of the enthusiastic and so capable hostess, Marilyn, to ourselves. She served gourmet cooked breakfasts in the traditional kitchen and kept us well-informed on local sights, trips etc, for which she happily made the bookings. The...

For three weeks in January we stayed in Calvert Cottage in the grounds of Ounuwhao Harding House, Russell. It was to be a getaway from winter, a relaxation holiday, no car, lots of quiet time. The Cottage was perfect. Amid a beautiful garden full of birds, interesting plants and total calm we were able to achieve all we'd hope for....

This is a great B&B - decent sized rooms, immaculately decorated and furnished, with ensuite bathrooms. Breakfast - whilst served slightly earlier than I would have preferred - is outstanding with a great range of choices, homemade jams and fruit, and a hot 'main course' of real quality. Marilyn and Lee are great hosts, full of information and provide all...

My family and I stayed for 5 nights in Calvert Cottage in February and absolutely loved it. Marilyn is an amazing host, nothing is too much trouble and her homestay is gorgeous. Calvert cottage was perfect for us with two small children, plenty of room, light, spotless and in gorgeous grounds. It's a perfect spot just a short walk from...

The cottage is light, spacious and well equipped with lots of thoughtful touches. We especially appreciated the delicious homemade cake and shortbread on arrival, the fresh flowers and lovely linen. It's just as good as it looks on...

Marilyn's guesthouse is a beautiful historical home designed with kauri wood walls and floors, her colorful handmade quilts, windows accented with stained glass and many unique features. The rooms are quaint and clean and thoughtful amenities are provided, including many types of bath products, a hallway refrigerator for guests, tiny chocolates and robes. A beautiful water view is seen from...

My husband and I recently spent three nights here, and I would heartily recommend this B&B. The room was comfortable, quiet, supplied with all the amenities you could want, and the breakfast with extraordinary. Marilyn is a wonderful cook and makes everything from scratch, many of the offerings coming from her garden or pantry, which is full of things she...
