We stopped for a night in Russell on our way up through Northland. Nice and clean room at the Russell Bay Lodge, where i had my first sighting of a weka . it was raining when we arrived and it didn't improve overnight. still we spent a lovely afternoon in the local RSA playing pool and can thoroughly recommend the...

We found this place after initially looking at accommodation in Paihia, so glad we did as it was just what we wanted, quiet, relaxing, roomy and had the place to ourselves. Sat on the deck for drinks, then into the township for dinner - bit of a hill down to town but that's what helps make it nice.

I agree with the last contributor. Our experience here was unacceptable to say the least. Going to arrive late, we phoned and were told the key would be in the door which it was. Letting ourselves in after stepping over a doormat covered in leaves, the Ocean Suite had an airless, fusty smell - clearly no windows had been opened...

We had looked forward to our 4 night stay in the Penthouse Suite at Russell Bay Lodge, expecting a well equiped room with lovely views, wonderful breakfasts and welcoming hosts (Dave and Aom). We were welcomed when we arrived rather later in the evening than we had expected but beyond that our accommodation was a let down. We had access...

Russell Bay Lodge was the perfect accommodation for our stay in Bay of Islands. The hosts bent over backwards to help us in every way with suggestions for sightseeing, hiking, restaurants, etc. The self-contained kitchen had the expected equipment yet it was all one step above what we found in other self-contained units, and the breakfast was plentiful although not...

We chose Russell Bay Lodge as one of the places to stay during our honeymoon in New Zealand. It was definitely one of the best places we stayed at during our trip. We especially enjoyed having breakfast (a lovely basket that we were handed the earlier evening) sitting at the patio with beautiful views of the bay. The room was...

Stayed for 2 nights as part of our RTW trip. Accommodation was very good, exceptionally clean and modern. Views from our balcony were wonderful. The owners Dave & Aom were very friendly and Dave has a great sense of humour. They invite you to have drinks with them on their balcony each evening. They have a view to die for....

We recently had a 3 nite stay at the Russell Bay Lodge in the Bay view room and we can highly recommond this property as an excellent choice when visiting the beautiful Russell. The accomodation can be classed as a B&B only in that the hosts David and Aom, were very friendly and helpful (but unintrusive - your privacy is...

We arrived in Russell after a drive from Auckland to be greeted by David who owns and runs the B&B with his partner Aom. He showed us to our one bedroomed suite which was absolutely beautiful. It had a fully equipped kitchen, washing mahine/dryer, microwave, hob etc. The bathroom had a jacuzzi and shower which was very spacious and spotlessly...
