Stayed here for work. Host was very friendly and check-in was smooth. Unit was very clean and comfortable and there was a lot of space to park our cars. Was not as noisy as expected considering the property is on the main road.

Was clean tidy, we were lucky to have a newly furnished, very basic, but okay considering I was ill & needed rest. The owner was friendly, but took $100 cash deposit, in case "I smoked in the room" when we returned key the next morning, he sent his wife to smell our room, and gladly gave my deposit back, I know it is often asked for when booking a room, but I did think he was a bit over the top. Very noisy room, as two main roads cross out the front of motel.

I had to go to the North Shore, Auckland very briefly late evening to pick up a car but stay overnight. The intention was to drive south the next day. I was advised to select a motel south of the bridge rather than on the North Shore to avoid the Auckland traffic flows in the morning. After looking through options around the Manakau area I finally selected further south at Papakura. The advantage was the very easy connection off the motorway going south and a very easy on ramp back onto the motorway in the morning. The motel is just a few hundred metres off the motorway.
The hostess was a pleasant lady who had stayed up until we arrived at nearly 10 pm. A big plus in my opinion. The unit itself was quite adequate and the beds were very comfortable. Though the complex was probably built about the 1970's and that was evident, the bathroom facilities had been modernised to a good standard. One drawback was that it is situated on a busy link road and traffic flow noise is a bit intrusive through the night. But for a stop over to avoid the worst of the Auckland traffic on a trip south it is very suitable.

Despite specific email contact, the owner wasn't available to let us into our very basic room at 1am. After ringing, the bell, knocking on the window and 'phoning the main number for 15 minutes, we asked our taxi driver to see if there was anywhere close by that would be open. No joy so we returned to sit outside until the early hours and our rented car was available. We rang the bell again and look and behold he appeared. An hour and $60 of taxi fair wasted. On checking out, no offer to put things right was made and he suggested we, "should of waited longer" and that we complain to the NZ Tourist Board. Aside from that the motel is very close to an intersection of two roads and hence was very, very noisy. Avoid if you can.

Stayed there as almost no rooms available in town and late arrival.
room like in a very old fashiioned and smal. Horrible price of USD 195.--
per night. The experience was very negativ and the Chinese women very arrogant
in dealing. Unfortunatelly city booked and no alternative. Suggetion: Avoid to stay there.

The Colonial Motel is just off the main road from the main Papakura off-ramp. The first motel on the left, it was, understandably subject to some traffic noise. The comfort made up for that. Our host was helpful and cheerful. The room was well appointed and the maintenance and cleaning was of an exceptionally high standard.

Very pleasant stay. Clean and tidy and well equipped. Good kitchen and bathroom. Friendly and helpful management too. They recommended some great places to eat nearby as well.

Would definitely stay again.

Very clean, modern interior - newly renovated. Staff were very helpful and friendly, even though we turned up for a last minute booking this was no trouble at all. Would recommend this place if you are on the road and need somewhere to stay.

I stayed for two nights. I really liked the room I had, it had more character than a lot of motel rooms I have stayed in, very clean and spacious with full amenities. I was impressed that I also had an oven in the kitchen to use rather than just a microwave. The decor was modern and looked newly decorated. The bed was very comfortable, the best I have slept in. I enjoyed the peace and quiet this motel provided. I found the owners very accommodating and helpful.
