As an Aucklander I am disgusted and embarrassed that out of towners and overseas tourists will stay here and get the impression we think this is in any way acceptable accomodation . I have been in much cleaner budget hostels. It is filthy, very tired with poor to rude service at the front desk . The gardens haven’t been weeded in an age and are all overgrown and climbing up the spouting .
This is the most run down poor property I have come across in my travels. All images on Jetstar and other booking sites are a myth. Cancelled my booking immediately and sourced a refund to find elsewhere. Such a shame for the poor manager (not Owner) he clearly has to deal with this regularly. Even the DL flyer shows a decent room. The outside of the property
stayed one night in November 2019, felt very unsafe. broken car windows. thieves in the middle of the night smashing the glass door out into next door's unit and robbing them... cockroaches, dirty and unkept. felt very down and out, with long stay tenants... would not stay here again... was sure I was going to be robbed. stay here if you like sleeping in your clothes while holding a knife.
This must be the worst experience we've ever had while travelling. Richie was EXTREMELY rude and helpful. On the website it states you can arrange for an extra rollout bed for a child, however when I called him to arrange this he said it was not possible, screaming down the phone and eventually hung up on me. The place is in less than average condition and not very clean either. Never ever again.
It has been over 6 months since I stayed here to see a show, so review might not be as helpful as it could be (hence the 'Hotel Style & Amenities' all being "Not Sure"). I booked this through my Air NZ account - the first time I have ever done such a thing, I normally go straight to the provider. The booking went through fine though and there were no issues when I got there either (like they hadn't received it or it had been cancelled). The Epsom Motor Inn is a 45 min walk from one of the nearest Skybus bus stops. I booked a standard studio, non-smoking. I chose it for its location. However, I arrived there and no one was there to check me in. The person on the front desk pulled up in his car after a short wait and checked me in; he didn't seem to be permanently at the desk either, but responded to the bell for attention. The room was ready for me immediately, but he couldn't answer any of my questions about the area and didn't have a map of Auckland (I hadn't been in that part of Auckland before) and referred me the to tourist booklets they had. The room was moderately clean, comfortable, but could do with better presentation ie an update on the covers on the beds and the sink area. I slept fine and the temperature of the room was fine. I also had trouble with the shower temperature going between hot and cold. I got fed up in the end and asked if they could do something as the shower water wasn't draining properly and that was fixed straight away. The Japanese restaurant wasn't operating when I was there and seemed it hadn't for a while. The courtyard area where you park the cars could do with more maintenance as the rest of the place in general. Hence the specification this is a low 3 rating; I've had experience in 3 star motels throughout NZ, which were better in general. I had a really good curry down the road at the small Indian restaurant.…
