Stayed there for one night on the way to the airport, and was given.the first room which was close to.the re ar neighbour who I believe was either a pub/nightclub as they partied till 2 am with loud music which made it impossible to sleep until the music stopped. For the room quite spacious, well equipped, with a convertible sofa bed.

On arrival I noted poorly kept grounds, a dark and strange smelling reception and some rubbish that needed to be cleared away. Entering one of the units we had rented I had to remove a dead cockroach from the kitchen bench. More dead cockroaches were found later in the week. During the week I enquired as to why one of the rooms had no hot water in the mornings and was told this was a common problem when a number of rooms are full and the boys should shower in the evening!

The motel is sandwiched between a major road and a rail line, it was not an earthquake we felt but the freight trains running by.

The cleaners were friendly and helpful and did their best.

The decor and fittings are dated and this business needs some investment to being it up to the standard of other budget accommodation.

I was pleased when our booking finished and we were able to leave.

Use of washing machine is free, place is very clean, but fittings are dated and the place is situated right next to a busy street. Wireless internet too expensive. Use of dryer is $2 per half hour. Pool is dirty.

Upon arrival the first thing we noticed was the photos online did not match up to what we were seeing. The photos online are so small you can not enlarge them. The front office had an old stale smell to it but friendly receptionist. The grounds messy and needed some TLC. The room had a power switch that was loose and sparked when i went to use it. The white sheets were stained and the toilet seat was not the right fit for the toilet (lid would not stay up!).
There were 3 pillows in total for one bed, we thought that was a bit stingee as why cant you have two spare pillows for a queen bed? the bed was extrememly hard and we had brusies from the springs. I would not stay here again as i think the $110 we paid for the Executive studio was a rip. while having a shower the water constantly changed temperature. The parking isnt the best either.
On a positive note, the tv worked!

Room was dirty. Cost more than a week's rent. Cobwebs, mold, windows that wouldn't lock, dirty glasses. If we hadn't been so tired we would have left when we saw the room. Avoid! Hasn't been updated since the 1960s. Beds are uncomfortable. Couches in the lounge were nasty.

We stayed in this motel a couple of years ago and liked it, so we went back. New owners.
The place is very outdated, tired and over priced for what it is. Not enough powerpoints or inaccessable. Wifi free for 2 hours only.

Stayed here for one night. If it'd been anymore I'd have sooner slept in the car.
Adjoining rooms had people coming and going until 1.30 a.m. then they decided to watch Ultimate Fighting on T.V. literally all night long. So loud we could hear the commentary. The other neighbour played loud boom-bass all night!
I went to close the window and the catch came away in my hand.
Had to push close from outside.
No smoke-alarm in room, thought that was illegal?!
No hair dryer.
No shampoo.
The kind of place where you dare not look under the bed, getting into it was squeamish enough.
For $140.00 an utter joke. Visit at your peril.

Excellent motel. Would recommend it to others. Where it was a bit dated in style, it made up for it with excellent service, cleanliness, spaciousness and very comfortable beds! We will definitely be staying again. Thank you from our family :)

I booked the Takanini Park Motor Lodge for 3 nights during the V8 Supercars as somewhere cheap to stay. I had read the reviews, but was pleasantly surprised with what is excellent value for money accommodation. There were two males staying there so the 2 bedroom unit we were given was more than suitable for the stay, and was very roomy and comfortable. Definitely value for money if you don't mind shabby chic...

There are some major positives and negatives about these motels. The reception area had a terrible smell when I first arrived..really bad first impression - however the welcome from the manager was very warm and helpful. The unit I was in was pretty dire in terms of being so worn and in need of some TLC - even holes in some of the doors. It's in a very tired state looks like the whole complex needs a BIG tidy up. The house staff were extremely approachable and friendly and my unit was scrupulously clean, which is really appreciated. Some coat hangers in the wardrobe would be appreciated and at least a booklet of local info, which you would normally expect in a motel. This is a budget motel in an area of South Auckland which people are just rushing through, but despite that, I think some money could be well spent on a total upgrade. There is nothing "motor lodge" about this place! Location is very convenient for public transport.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a room at the back - the roar of the traffic is incessant!
