We stayed 4 nights at Pousada Camaleao inn in order to visit the Peruaçu Caves National Park. The inn is 15 minutes away from the park entrance by car. It’s the best option in town.
It is a very basic place. Rooms are ensuite with noisy AC, TV, minibar, hot shower. Everything is very basic, with worn out sheets and thin bath towels. The room itself isn’t fancy and do not expect a king size bed. It’s a regular double bed. Wi-fi is free but the signal is very weak.
On the positive side, breakfast is varied and nutritious, they offer simple meals for your evenings and there’s even a clean swimming pool. The inn overlooks the Sao Francisco river, which brings a pleasant evening breeze. Decoration is colorful with a warm rustic touch with plants and shade all around. There are a couple of friendly dogs in the premises. As a whole, the place is clean and service is good. Attendants keep a friendly smile and are always willing to help. Free parking available.
We paid around R$140 a night for a room overlooking the pool. But bear in mind that if there are many guests enjoying the pool you’ll hear all the noise and chatter. You can only book online and payment is by credit or debit card.
Tip: once you find the place, ring the cast iron bell by the gate and they’ll let you in. Also, bring a Portuguese language guidebook as very few people speak other languages in the region. Don’t rely on online services to translate for you because cell phone or internet service is precarious in the region and there’s no service in the Peruaçu Caves National Park.

Sim, a pousada Camaleão fica próxima aà centro. Acredito que eles devam ter contato de alguns guias para as visitas no Parque Peruaçu, como já estávamos com um guia, não verificamos se havia o serviço.
