Viva V Samana by Wyndham delights numerous guests with its picturesque location near a stunning beach and its vibrant atmosphere, often accompanied by lively music and dancing. While the hotel's amenities, including lush gardens and varied dining options, generally receive praise, some travelers mention room for improvement in pool maintenance and beverage service. Though the rooms and grounds are typically found to be clean and inviting, a few visitors have encountered issues with dampness and odor in rooms. The staff is commended for their friendliness and professionalism, even though there can be occasional service delays.

We had the most lovely time at the resort! Both Viva Wyndham Samana and their sister resort Sublime were excellent. The staff was very accommodating and most of them speak some English or German or even French. The guests were a great mix of people from France, Canada, Germany and Russia (at least these were the nationalities we met). The food was great and you could choose from a variety of meats, pasta (they had an Italien pasta chef!), fish and seafood, salads, breads. The food decorations were really exquisite. There was an artist at work! The animation team was sweet and made everyone feel welcome. You could do yoga, volleyball, bocce, zumba, aqua fitness and some more. The beach and water were clean and we jumped in every day. You could walk pretty much forever along the beach. Our room was quiet, air-conditioned (which you could turn off/on) and cleaned meticulously every day. We had new bottles of water in the room every day and sometimes in the evening they would come in and provide some peppermint/cucumber water. A week was just too short! I'd definitely come back.

Great stay, room, property, pool, beach and all adult were wonderful.
The best part of Viva Wyndham V Samana was the availability of the ala carte restaurants. It is a vacation.....I do not like to check the time continuously while trying to relax. All other all inclusive resorts that I have stayed at require waiting in the lobby at a set time to schedule an exact time for reservations. Thank you Wyndham, I will be staying at other Wyndham properties in the future because of this policy.
It was pleasant being able to enjoy a few cocktails and listen to the great entertainment, live music performances with great music, and RELAX. When the time was right we were able to stroll in to an ala carte restaurant and be seated immediately. Mostly went to Fusion, great food, and the seafood restaurant, also wonderful meals.
Thank you for a totally relaxing vacation without having to constantly worry about the time, I am booking a stay at your Playa Dorada property for my next trip to Republica Dominicana.

the service, food and overall resort was excellent. I would highly recommend this resort and the beach had NO seaweed washing up on shore. The beach aree was great, no motorized vehicles in the water and the waves were not large at all.

We reserved a bungalow for this 7-day vacation. The beach is nice, the rest is a big disappointment. The doorway was full of leaves from trees around. Towels and bedsheets were frayed, the room was not made everyday (no big deal except that there was always a dead cockroach on the floor in the morning) and when the room was made it was done at around 4:30Pm when we were coming back from the beach (we called to complain and left a message for the manager at the front desk but nothing changed). Nothing was replenished towels/water/coffee or anything: we had to call and wait. There is a private jacuzzi outside the room with the pump always off and they will not turn it on (the water had a suspicious green hue and lots of leaves).
Hotel staff decided to do noisy yard service (lawn mower) at 6:30 AM on Thursday but the rooms are not insulated for noise. When I opened the door, a laborer waived and smiled, he had no clue...

The restaurant food was mediocre, desserts and breads were stale most of the time, drinks were full of ice, wine was by half glass serving, no bottles allowed and it took an act of God to get a refill. Coffee in the morning was not offered, we almost had to beg for it, refills out of the question. Coffee was always served without a spoon.
Hope you are not hungry if you want room service, it takes a second act of God for delivery. The funny thing is that they have so many nice, smiley employees that one wonders what the managing people do.
The main swimming pool water was never crystal clear, always a tad of a milky hue...

A short drive from the airport was pleasant and had great ocean views. We had a private car, so we could stop and take some photos.
Arrival at the resort was very easy, and check in was fast. Our room was ready, and we had a porter to carry bags and familiarize us with things.
The room was clean and bright, had everything we needed (mini fridge with beer and soft drinks, a few bottles of rum and vodka).
The buffet was well layed out, and had enough variety that we never got tired of it in two weeks.

Our room had a private pool that we used every day, and was just fantastic.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, and although spoke little English, were able to get you what you wanted, and you never had to worry about getting what you wanted.

Bring small US Bill's for tips, as the front desk has limited cash for chang on hand. Tips are not required, but I find that they are very well appreciated, and the small cost to you, makes a big difference to them. Most employees are working at about five dollars a day.

This is an adult's only resort, and is very quiet and relaxing. No beach vendors hassling you, and you always feel safe.

Every aspect of this trip was excellent. I just can't say enough about how we loved it.

The constant maintenance, and staff working so well, says a lot about the management.
Everyone seemed to enjoy their job, and the whole atmosphere was very positive.

Definitely à wonderful vacation.

My wife and I decided to celebrate our honeymoon in this hotel for many reasons but two of the reasons being that 1st there is no sargasso in Samana and 2nd it's our favorite part of the island.

At our arrival they did not prepare our room with the honeymoon decorations we had previously arranged and at the time we where very disappointed. None the less this was the best thing that could have happened to us.

Almost automatically Edgar Reyes (our honeymoon guardian angel) started working his magic to make this experience one to remember. The first thing they did was prepare our room in seconds the very next day with all of the honeymoon decor you would expect and included a complimentary bottle of Barcelo Imperial (good quality rum). That same night they prepared a romantic candle light, beach, surf and turf dinner for two at sunset, it was absolutely beautiful.

At this point we're happy, hugging Edgar, Santos and Francisco left and right we were good with all of this but it didn't end there. The very next day Edgar Reyes scheduled an appointment at their beautiful spa for a unforgettable couples massage. What can I say? We are so happy with our experience we couldn't ask for more.

Thank you guys!

How can you turn a paradise beach into hell on earth. Just put this hotel in front of it and watch if unfols sadly before you.
It’s a horror show.
Terrible quality beds, sheets so poor quality it can make any countryside motel a five star location.
The “all inclusive” service offer poorly made drinks and terrible wines. The waiters are all in a bad mood
The food is something else.
The best part is kept for when you want to sleep: an awful loud party music doesn’t let you sleep at all. All the sound of their disco party echoes through the thin wall of the rooms and the bass make the wall tremble

It’s such a nightmare that I’ll will always regret having booked to stay here for the night. Run away

First I would like to start by saying that the hotel is decent just from there. When booking I was carried away by the images and the title of all-inclusive for adults only and I thought that this hotel but is nothing more than a hotel that would not give it more than 3 stars and barely meets the minimum expectations of an all-inclusive. The service is good but it can improve, ll quality of the food leaves much to be desired you have more variety of stock dishes going to Golden Corral than in this place. The rooms are in good condition, but the one they assigned me when I arrived the refrigerator did not work, and neither did the telephone. The room service is AWFUL. Stay away from ordering something here, the food is not good. I ordered a chicken sandwich and they sent me a club sandwich that looked like it had been made with canned chicken and vegetable leftovers from the lunch buffet. Another point of improvement that this complex could have is finding another place for its "bar/disco". It is very uncomfortable trying to sleep at 11 PM-12 AM and not being able to because the music from the disco rumbles your doors.

Now, not everything is bad in this place, the pool area is very nice but it would be nice to have waiters around so you don't have to leave the area to look for drinks. The view from the pool to the mountains is beautiful, the beach is very well maintained and clean. The best thing about this hotel is its beach, crystal clear water with shades of turquoise blue as you dive further into the ocean. Through the beach, you can walk to Punta Bonita and Las Terrenas.

The hotel needs many improvements to be considered a top hotel in the area, I only recommend it if you want to be close to Las Terrenas but without immersing yourself in the chaotic traffic of this small beach town.

The restaurant food was average, desserts and bread were stale most of the time, burgers at the snack bar were burnt, drinks were full of ice, wine was by half glass serving, no bottles allowed.

The location and facility are gorgeous, the staff is super friendly and helfpful but overworked. This all makes up for the down side.
The food needs an upgrade, esp. for lunch and dinner in the large terrace and for lunch in the terrace by the beach. Only one a-la-carte restaurant is open for dinner but can only sit around 25% of the guests at one time and does not take reservations. It is grossly understaffed and only the maitre can take the orders, so it takes a long time to start dining (the food there, however, was good overall). This restaurant opens at 7pm and a second sitting starts very late, around 9pm; these second sitting guests have mostly been waiting a long time to get a table (as no reservations are allowed) and this is a very un-fun situation.
The bar by the beach plays very loud local music and local guests tend to bring boom boxes to the pool and play their own loud music (which should not be allowed). This is very annouying for people who come to relax or read.

We were back once again end of October 2021. Remains stunningly beautiful, friendly outgoing excellent staff all around. Excellent service, if you ask they will try to help. Hardest working animation team anywhere. Ocean was very calm could walk far out from the awesome beach, lots of chairs at pool and ocean for everyone. Food is good. Buffet and at least one a la carte open per night. Covid measures in place mask required to walk in restaurants, they provide a disposable glove to handle buffet utensils. They take your temperature when walking in.

The resort is growing in size the new addition opened last week October 29th, that added 30 new rooms. Another building is up but still under construction which will add yet another 72 rooms to what was a small intimate resort. Keep in mind at present with low occupancy there is already a 15-30 minute wait in line at the only bar during the day for a drink of any kind. There is one pool. the resort already feels at capacity in terms of service at bars and restaurants. Imagine almost double the people with same services/amenities.

The other issue is the demographic of clientele is changing, it was a lazy, quiet place, very quiet, and seemed to appeal to most guests that way the last number of years. More recently and certainly during our stay, it is getting loud, many younger locals hopping in the pool with boom boxes pounding out loud music often competing with each other and they are having a blast and it gets loud loud loud. Its fun to watch but you can see many of the repeat guests really not happy. It is a different vibe from earlier years. Our experience one night was after the disco closed a group of young ladies who were feeling very happy were coming down the room hallways whooping it up around 2 AM and sure enough they were in the room beside us. So 6-8 of them pile on the the main level patio with plunge pool, right beside us and music is blasting screaming and yelling trying to push each other in the pool, having a great time but wow everyone in the resort must have been awake by then. My guess is this is the new direction of the hotel. almost double the rooms and new clientele. Security did shut down the after hours party.

It is a beautiful place with kind generous people but I doubt we'll continue to go there any longer.
