small and clean with an atmosphere that feels like a home. A nice relaxing place to stay on your travels. The kitchen is small but does provide shelf and fridge space. The owner is very kind and does what he can to make sure you have a good time (provided personal paints for an evening spent at the hostel).

We rented Mountain Bikes here, we got great value for a very reasonable price. Ross, the owner, was available all day to give us information on which trails to pick and gave us tips for other activities as well. We got a bunch of parts like spare tires and tools with the rentals, but didn't need any of them. The bikes are high-quality, lightweight mountainbikes from the bigger go-to brands and were in very good condition. Five stars, well deserved

We are a family that needed to stay in Katoomba for a few days. We were travelling for business purposes and we wanted to stay in an affordable place. In our research, we found the Flying Fox Backpacker which also offers private rooms suitable for small families. We had the best time ever, Ross the owner is super friendly and he makes us feel very comfortable during our stay. We enjoy the non-technology time in the living room during the evenings, during this time our little daughter enjoyed talking and meeting beautiful people. it really reminded us what it used to be back on the day when you did have a phone and how important is to connect with people without distractions. In addition, it also has a good fireplace. The hostel was super clean. Price is affordable and includes coffee, tea and daily breakfast. we also had one dinner included! We will always be back at the fox when travelling to the blue mountains!

We had a few days in Katoomba and we stayed at the Flying Fox in a private room with a double bed. There was plenty of space, everything was clean and the other people staying there were mostly hikers and working holiday staff looking for work. It was quiet, clean and plenty of kitchen space and bathrooms! Parking in the back was good and we could easily park our motorcycle there for the entire duration of our stay.

We had a excellent stay at the Flying Fox. It felt as though we were staying in someone’s home. The atmosphere was chill and the people working and staying there long term were all super friendly and helpful. They really made us feel like we were part of the family. Ross the owner is amazing. He took the time to sit down with us and give us heaps of recommendations for our stay and our travel up the east coast. I’ve stayed at many hostels in Australia and nothing comes close to the Flying Fox!
