I stayed here for a few nights whilst visiting the Blue Mountains. The hostel came highly recommended by various travel sites. The building (house) itself looks unimpressive from the street, and the dorms inside are similarly average. The kitchen needs some work too, but wait until you settle into the lounge on a cold night.... Between 6 and 9 its... More

I only stayed in this hostel for 1 night, but I wished I could've stayed longer. It's cheap, clean and the owner is really friendly. He knows everything about the mountains and gives great advice about hikes. There's also a great cozy and warm (fire place) common room, where you will meet a lot of nice people. Best stay in... My arrival was as coming into a friends house. Really laid back atmosphere and overall cozy. There was a 6pm social time that Ross (the owner) was enforcing in the living room area. So no multi media allowed. I tought it was great because as soon 6 pm hit the clock, people were all chatting away. The place was also... More

My aunt and I stayed here for two nights the end of July (2015). Overall, the place was nice - quiet, pretty clean (for a hostel, at least), and convenient location. The owner (I believe he was the owner) was very nice and helpful (in suggesting activities and giving directions, etc.), though he (nor anyone who worked there) was there... More

I came to stay at the Flying Fox in the middle of winter. I wasn't planning on staying long, but the friendly atmosphere of the hostel and the beautiful blue mountains sucked me in and I had to extend my stay! Definitely recommend staying in the mountains for as long as you can, definitely stay for more than one night.... More

Good location, nice free breakfast, clean dorms and bathroom. Owner Ross is more than willing to help you choose a hike and is very friendly. It gets cold inside despite log fire and heaters, but would in spite of that definitely recommend! Atmosphere is wonderful.

Bathrooms are way too limited with a queue present most of the time. Hostel staff all looked unfriendly. Also, I visited in the coldest time of the year and the heaters were weak so we freezing! However, the layout of the hostel was great with good location. Also liked that there was breakfast, free coffee and tea.

I just needed a place to crash in the mountains to avoid going back a long way to Sydney. The place is not my ideal but for a backpacker I think it is quiet a good place and a value for money. The owner is witty and pleasant to talk to, very friendly and easy going, rooms are neat and very... More

A fantastic independent hostel which will welcome you with open arms. The hostel is located near a Dan Murphys and a Coles which is convenient for most backpackers. It's also close to the train station too! The rooms are perhaps a little dated. It could do with some new carpet perhaps but I sensed that they were renovating anyway as... More
