We ate here after recommendation from our host at Villa Mathilda. At first sight Hotel GLAVJC appears unimpressive however despite the 1970s decor the restaurant is superb. There are stunning views over Lake Como, enhanced during our visit by a spectacular lightning storm. The food is delicious and the portions more than generous....my salad Nicoise was a meal in itself...

The bus dropped us off on the dangerously narrow and winding road and our heart sank at what appeared to be a relic of the 1970s. Inside, it turned out we were absolutely right, but within a few minutes realised that this was part of the immense charm of this incredible place. Where else on Lake Como could you get...

We keep coming back to this hotel for shorter or longer stays every summer for the past ten years, and we appreciate it even more each time. We give it a top rating, not because it is a modern fancy design hotel (it is certainly not :-), however the rooms are practical and clean), but because of: a) their incredibly...

My fiancée and I loved our stay here. Our room had an amazing view over the lake and the private garden; while possibly a little dated in some opinions, the decor in the rooms just added to the whole experience. We loved the location, being in a quiet, small town rather than one of the bigger tourist spots that still...

I stayed in this hotel on a trip back to England from Italy. Firstly I was overcharged for my room , secondly the hotel itself is very outdated, ugly with horrible facilities. Rooms were of a very poor standard and shower and taps did not work properly, it was unclean , the doors to the Terrace did not lock. the...

I loved this place, but it is not for those who are afraid of heights. Rooms are old fashioned, but delightfully so. Reminds one of European hotels of 50 years ago or more. Balcony overlooks the lake far below giving a view of little villages in the mist by day and sparling lights by night. Restaurant has good food if...

Parking aside, this hotel is superbly located, spotlessly clean and quiet. From our very wet arrival, when the receptionist shifted his own car to allow us close access to shift our luggage and then carried as much as he could through the rain, to the stunning menu - try the antipasta service - this hotel is an absolute winner. Our...

The room did not have one working reading lamp and the hair dryer did not work. What was however worst was the slanting bottom of the shower wich is very dangerous. You have to be alert to this but the shower is otherwise in good order. Be careful when going down to the parking because of steps that take you...
