We stayed at Mammoth Springs for 4 nights whilst on a wolf watching package. The hotel has been substantially renovated over the last couple of years and it certainly shows The hotel is a large L shape with the common areas at the front and the rooms along a wing down one side. The lobby area is large with a gift shop on the left and on the right a large communal seating area with a small bar in one Corner. Live piano music is played every evening that we were there and part of one wall s decorated iwith an enormous map of the USA detailing all the states made from wood. The restaurant and lounge bar is in a separated building about 200 yards away. Our room was lovely. It was very large with 2 queen beds, a fridge and an armchair and stool in one corner. As with all rooms there was no TV which didn’t bother us in the slightest. The temperature controls in both the bathroom and the bedroom were digital and were very efficient. There were 2 cupboards in the room, one for hanging clothes and the other small cupboard had no shelves which was slightly strange. There was coffee and tea making equipment as well as an alarm clock. The en suite bathroom was very large and tiled half way up the walls. There were plenty of towels and face clothes as well as soap and shampoo dispensers both by the wash basin and in the walk in shower together with a small teddy bear shaped soap. Although there was only one washbasin there was plenty of shelving to store wash bags etc. The room was extremely quiet, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The only downsides were the internet which was slow and we found only really suitable for emailing and the shower where the water temperature could only be described as Luke warm at best. The transfers organised by the hotel from Bozeman airport and down to Old Faithful worked perfectly. Winter in Yellowstone was amazing and this was a lovely place to stay to enjoy it.

We stayed for one night in Cabin A20 at Mammoth Hot Springs during mid-September, which is during the Elk rut. The Elk would bugle into the early morning hours, which we could hear from inside the cabin. It was kind of an eerie sound but a cool experience!
I would highly recommend a stay in the Mammoth Hot Springs area of Yellowstone for at least one night in order to be able to explore this area of the park without a long drive. One of our best experiences in Yellowstone was seeing wildlife at dusk in Lamar Valley and then getting up at sunrise to walk the boardwalks around Mammoth Hot Springs before the crowds showed up. We were out there by 7am and had the entire place to ourselves! By 9 am the place was swamped.
We stayed in Cabin A20 thanks to the wonderful gentleman at the front desk. I had requested a cabin along the perimeter road and he booked us in A20 which is a stand-alone cabin with a view of the hot springs looming on the hill above. Very cool! We especially enjoyed eating our takeout dinner from the cafeteria out on the little sitting porch. We were pleasantly surprised by the food quality and prices, recognizing that things aren't 100% normal due to the pandemic.
It's true that the cabins are VERY simple. This is what we had in our room: two double beds, two very small pillows per bed, one night stand, one chair, sink outside the bathroom, and a toilet and shower in the tiny bathroom. No, there is no coffee maker. No, there is no refrigerator, TV, microwave, desk, or counter space. It is a tiny space! Honestly, I don't think it could accommodate more than a couple with one small child.
We did get pretty good internet service in our cabin via our cell phone provider, xfinity.
If you're interested in staying in a cabin near where the elk hang out, we noticed quite a few in the lawn area near cabins B1-18.
Ultimately, this little cabin served us well and we would definitely stay here again!

We spent one night at a cabin (not the actual lodge) and were glad it was just for one day. It was a small room and the bathroom/shower can barely fit one person it. There was also little to no storage space. The parking lot was gravel and not in good shape, and for the money, they are getting, they could at least pave it. As I mentioned in my Canyon Lodge review, you are just paying for being in the park, and you don’t get anything else (such as a TV, wireless, refrigerator, and so on).
From a customer service standpoint, when we checked in, I asked the person if I could get the number to the Canyon Lodge front desk as I thought I left something there. They wouldn’t give me the number (for whatever reason, they won’t give it out and it’s not online either) but said that there is a lost and found website and she was going to email me with the information. She never did (thankfully I found the item on my end).
As for food, you can grab a continental breakfast at the Map Room and it was fine. As for lunch, the main restaurant still isn’t open due to COVID (no reason it shouldn't be open), but there is a fast-food section that is available and since it’s the only place that is open in the area, we got to wait almost an hour for just fast food and it definitely wasn’t worth it.
At the end of the day, you would be better off either staying in a more central location in the park or driving the 15 minutes from there to Gardiner and spending the night there.

We travelled in the wintertime, as it was on my bucketlist. The snow in Wyoming is perfect, powdery and beautifully white, even after ploughing. The hotel is operating under COVID restrictions but did the best it could under those. The lobby and maproom are mere shells of what they can be, but it's February 2021. A few months from now everything should be back to normal. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and had plenty of room for all of our toiletries, normally not the case. There is limited room for empty luggage though. 2 queens mean that 4 people can use the room, but there was limited space for 4 suitcases and only 4 drawers for all our stuff. There was a coffee maker but that was all. There were 3 lamps with USB ports, which was great. Cell service was good and the internet was slow but acceptable for getting emails - not for downloading though. Adjusting the room temperature was challenging as there were limited instructions. The hotel could have done more with telling its history, for a 100 year old building. The staff were attentive and helpful, repairs were completed while we ate dinner. The dining room is in a different building and reservations were recommended. We had booked reservations before we arrived but were able to change them on the day. Gardiner is a 5 mile/12 minute drive away and did have plenty of restaurants to chose from but we didn't fancy driving that road after alcohol, so it was good that we could eat on site.

We stayed here as part of a winter package (one night at Mammoth at start, 3 nights at Old Faithful Snow Lodge and one night at Mammoth at the end). Would strongly recommend the package as we had a tremendous experience seeing Yellowstone in the winter. However, Mammoth Lodge is no more than average. It is a historic building in a rathere austere style which does not add to the warmth or welcoming feel of the place. Service is poor and inefficient, with lots of slips of paper for breakfast and dinner and charging up to rooms. I suspect the IT system is poor as registration was very slow. There is a large lounge, but it only offers service between 16:00 and 21:00. The rooms are big, but they feel as though the decor came out of the seventies. The restaurant is in a separate building, so in winter you have to brace yourself for dinner. The restaurant works on a 'mass scale' and like the hotel does not offer particularly good service. However, if you want to visit in the winter you have no choice.

This review is being written while COVID protocols were still in place, mask wearing and limited services are to be considered. We are just so happy to finally be traveling again!
We chose Yellowstone National Park as the destination for our first “vaxication” (post vaccine vacation.) We thought the beauty of being outdoors and going before too many people returned to traveling made Yellowstone the perfect destination. We were correct. Our choice of this hotel was determined by the fact that it was one of the only ones open inside the park on the dates we wanted to go and the only one with availability! We were not disappointed!
The drive from Bozeman airport is scenic and not too far. The Southern Entrance was still closed so luckily this hotel was near the Northern Entrance which was recently opened. Being inside the park allowed us to get an early start for the sights we wanted to see. Located next to the Mammoth Hot Springs made it an ideal base for our three days in the park. We especially enjoyed the herds of Bison right in the front of the hotel.
The room was large enough for the two of us. Because it is in a National Park, TVs, radios and AC are not available. We didn’t miss them! Our room had a large, step in claw tub with a rainfall shower head and curtains all around. Rooms are not serviced due to COVID but plenty of towels and toiletries are available. We had a small fridge and coffee maker in our room. The bed was super comfortable but the pillows were a challenge-too hard or too soft but that might just be us! There’s a small closet but no drawers so we left most things in our suitcase. Large pump bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and body wash are available.
The staff were happy to be reopened and were super helpful in answering our questions and providing road closure information. Since the hotel’s dining room was still closed, we got our take out breakfast and dinner from the Terrace Grill next door. It met our needs just fine and was delicious after longs days around the park.
Because we were early in the season, parking and traffic was not an issue. There was adequate parking around the hotel but we could see where this may be a challenge in busier summer months. The highlight for us was its location to Lamar Valley and the many bison and in the other direction, Old Faithful and the geysers along with the Yellowstone River Falls!

October 2020 stayed in a cabin w/ a private bath. I think it was B6. Picked this over other YNP hotels due to proximity to Lamar Valley, since the road between Roosevelt and Canyon was closed this year, coming through Mammoth was the only way out to Lamar *(45 min drive) Plus I wanted to see some elk! The cabins are very simple, as stated in most reviews. We did not come to YNP for the hotels, I found the cabin comfortable. It was cold at night, it's got one of those old fashioned heaters, if you leave it off its going to be freezing in a heartbeat, if you leave it on you'll be sweating in 5 mins. Bring warm sleeping clothes if visiting in fall. Shower only w/ toilet in same room. Sink was in main room of cabin. I enjoyed the YNP shampoo/soap in the shower. Beds were adequately comfortable. This is not the ritz, you stay here to be close to wildlife and enjoy the park. All cabin's w/ bathrooms essentially area small house divided into two separate cabins. Thin walls but it wasn't an issue for us. A nice courtyard out front, beware the elk poop everywhere outside cabins if you're rising early. Parking was tight, no assigned parking. Our neighbor and us were in some kind of non spoken agreement that we'd take turns every other night parking between the cabin, otherwise you're parking in the tight alleys behind the cabins. There were elk everywhere in October, literally right outside the cabin, just watch for the bulls. They bugled , chased each other, kept the rangers busy and put on quite a show at all hours. Overall I was pleased w/ the stay. As other stated, food during covid was takeout only from the grill. If you drive to Gardner, MT, which is 20 mins north, you'll have plenty of fine food options. Mammoth village was convenient for us. Post office, medical clinic, gas, gift shops, take out from the grill. Get yourself some mediocre take out from the grill, head out to Lamar and enjoy dinner watching the wildlife.

Normally I would rate this hotel high. The hotel is located next to Mammoth Hot Springs. Best of all you are in the park and can get to the different sites early and quickly and avoid traffic entering the park. You can easily get to Lamar Valley and see the wildlife-Bison, Wolves, Elk and Bears. The staff was friendly, and helpful. Our room was comfortable. I especially loved the bathtub. However, despite paying premium price of $300.00 per night for 2 nights in September 2021 to stay in the park due to Covid19 we had minimal service.
Expect no room service. At lunch there was a limited menu of hamburgers, hotdogs, chili bowls, fruit bowls. Coming from Hawaii I had expected to eat Western fare not dried carnival food. A finer dining restaurant opens for dinner, and you can have chicken, elk or bison.
The hotel is located near the town of Gardiner Montana. We drove there to eat and buy goodies at the local markets to take home. The prices were better out of the park.
Would I stay here again? Only if the lodge provides service and restaurant improves their menu.

We stayed in 5 cabins during our travels and this was one of the most updated cabins in the park. The furnishings seemed to be new. However, the floor space was very limited for luggage. We had a cabin with two, queen beds and the sink was located in the room just as you opened the door. The shower and toilet were separate. I liked that we could park right next to the cabin and the front porch was perfect for having dinner while we watched the ground squirrels play. There was a small table and two chairs on the porch. You may want to ask for a cabin that has the yard in the center. Our cabin was in this group and had a view of the hot springs! We also saw elk and a coyote while walking near the hotel lobby.

We rented a cabin. There is a grass area in the middle where our kids had a blast running around, watching ground squirrels and playing with other children. Elk also showed up at times and we enjoyed watching them from the window (although this was a little stressful - trying to be sure we kept safe distance). It was nice having a small porch and being able to step right outside rather than be in the hotel. That said, there are some pretty significant cons to staying here and I would stay outside the park if I could do it over especially as Gardner is so close. First, all food is take out with long lines, limited menu, and limited places to sit and eat. Second, the rooms don't have a land-line phone. That coupled with zero Wifi and cell service made the basics difficult. You couldn't call the front desk to find out basic information and there was no information in the room. If you had an emergency, you'd just be SOL.

They definitely have private bathrooms (though it is a shower, not a bath). I am not sure about the hair dryer, probably because I am bald and did not look!
Tripadvisor does not allow me to put in a URL, but if you search for "plan your visit snowmobiles snowcoaches Yellowstone" you will see the companies that are allowed to operate in the park. Then it is a matter of calling to see where their meeting/pickup location is.
There are more places to choose from in the Mammoth area.
