My husband and I spent 5 nights in beach cottage at wonderful Ras Kutani over New Year. I was looking forward to that part of our trip and had high expectations of the place having heard great things about it. It actually exceeded my expectations (and I am VERY fussy!) We were in Room 1 which felt a little more...

Our extended family congregated here prior to embarking on a safari. What a pleasant surprise that this would be one of the highlights of our trip! The bungalows were unbelievably lovely: comfortable, stylish, and what a view from our Hill House lodging (not for the feint of heart or weak of limb - it's a good climb up to this...

Ras Kutani was the first stop on our honeymoon in Tanzania booked through Imagine Africa. We needed some relaxation before our safari and so stayed for 3 nights. The place is absolutely fantastic. It's off the beaten track, which is just what we wanted. We were lucky that during our stay in early December, the place was very quiet with...

Dear Joel D Thank you so much for your lovely review of Ras Kutani - and for us the point you made about feeling like you are truly in Africa is for us very important. We are not a "placeless" resort, you continue your safari at the beach with our natural nirvana of coastal forest, turtle hatchings, hump back whale...

We stayed for 2 nights in this lodge, and different as most other people we stayed here before leaving on safari, we just wanted to cool down for a few days from busy life before starting our trip.. And this proved to be an excellent choice, already when driving in (make sure to ask to go through the city center...

Manager David runs a fantastic tranquil holiday hideaway. His team are helpful, friendly and courteous at all times and do everything to make your stay perfect Food is excellent. We had a hill top room and the view was certainly worth the climb. Our alarm call was monkeys running across our roof and jumping off into the trees Stunning 2.5...

This was our last stop after 3 nights in each of the other sister camps (Siwandu and Jongomero) and it is paradise. The high quality of all three locations is top notch and the food is different at each place but all superb. We also loved our room which was fabulous. The property is on a lagoon on one side...

Dear Maccer64 Thank you so much for your reviews of all three of our properties - they make a wonderful itinerary - the perfect snapshot of the southern service. We pride ourselves that each camp is very different from one another - all having their own characters and personalities from very different menus to match the varying climates as well...

This was the last of 3 camps during a trip to Tanzania to celebrate my 60th: all were superb. Ras Kutani is small and unpretentious yet absolutely luxurious. The 'tents' are stunning with views across the lagoon and comfortable decks to relax on. We were quite near the main camp and pool which was lovely (and still quiet) as we...

Dear shaktisha Thank yo for your lovely review - we are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Ras Kutani and continued the celebration. We would always recommend guests travel around the port on the Mbagala road as its usually more free flowing, even though a longer distance - the ferry can become very congested and traffic becomes static. All transfers...

We spent 2 nights here at the end of a safari trip. It is a ten minute trip by small aircraft from Dar Es Salaam to their airstrip, or a much longer journey by road. Dear SueBe68 Thank you for your review - for future guests the trip from Dar airport by road takes approx 90 mins, the tarmac along the road is still being laid but currrently we only have 9km of dirt road so the drive is getting easier and easier and the biggest benefit is to see a bit of real Tanzanian...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This beach destination in Africa offers the visitor that increasingly rare commodity - long stretches of pristine deserted beaches, warm blue seas and an opportunity to experience the peace and tranquility long since swamped by overcrowding in more publicized tropical resorts. The setting ensures that feeling of being on one's own tropical island. The lodge is flanked by a fresh water lagoon abutting onto a coastal forest, which spills to the edge of the unspoilt and undeveloped beach. Accommodation is in nine spacious, charming cottages constructed of natural, local materials that harmonise perfectly with the wonderful surroundings. On top of the hill we have also four suites and a family house all with stunning views. ... more   less
