Very nice, one star Michelin restaurant in Burano. Staff was very friendly, they gave us table without reservation before. Wine list is really fantastic, kitchen also, for me too much experiments :-) (lemon ice cream with celery). Anyway, whole impression was great !

I love the concept of Venissa, with the vineyard, Michelin star restaurant and boutique hotel. We stayed in the yellow room on the top floor. The rooms are beautifully decorated and incredibly comfortable. We had a great view out onto one of the canals. The breakfast was really good with a selection of breads, cheeses, meat and jams as well...

This place overturns everything you thought you knew about locating a vineyard. It is on a low marshy island in the Venetian lagoon. Apparently, the owners discovered an ancient grape vine growing on nearby Torcello. They propagated the (dorona) grape and developed it into the vineyard and winery. It is a pale yellow greenish grape, a color you would expect...

My wife and I wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of Venice and spend a couple nights on this quiet island. Venissa is surrounded by its walled-in vineyard and garden. While we were there, the hotel also hosted an art program with statues shown throughout the grounds. Upon checking in, we were offered schedules of the water...

Discovered a vineyard on one of the outer islands of Venice, Mazzorbo while photo exploring. A courtyard restaurant and wine presentation room beckoned us to sit, relax, and try new things. We've learned on this venture through Italy, wine and food are deeply connected. So a "wine tasting" isn't usually just pouring four glasses of sips and choosing your favorite....

I have to make an essential introductory remark: some friends give me this stay for my 40th birthday so I can't evaluate the overall cost ... It is a resort dedicated to romantic couples, wine lovers and people looking to peace. The rooms are different: comfort and suites (latter are better and bigger), well appointed and well equipped. Probably the...

There’s no doubt that this hotel and its grounds are beautiful, that its location is magical, and that it's easy to get to by vaporetto from Venice proper (it even has its own private dock, if you choose to take a water taxi). That said, while I enjoyed my stay, I don’t know that I’d go back. There was something...

Location is on the pretty, peaceful island of Mazzorbo which is connected to Burano by a footbridge. The hotel is very close to the public ferry number 12 stop. The staff were very friendly and helpful. An excellent breakfast was included, everything was fresh and tasty and the service was also excellent. The standard room was comfortable and clean without...

After reading such great reviews, we booked 2 nights at the Venissa hoping for a relaxing end to our adventurous honeymoon. We emailed the hotel to see if there was anything special they did for honeymooners and we were told that they could offer us a complimentary dinner at their Michelin star restaurant along with a bottle of champagne. We...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Venissa Wine Resort, located on the island of Mazzorbo in the Venetian Lagoon a mere 40 minutes by ferry from Venice, offers an abundance of options for travelers looking for a unique and entirely off-the-beaten-track experience. The estate's charming 6-room guesthouse is the epitome of laid-back, minimalist elegance. Located on the bottom floor of the guesthouse is a casual osteria serving delicious local fare, while across the grounds is Venissa's Michelin-starred fine-dining restaurant, which has become a sought-after destination for local and international foodies thanks to the chefs' creative, innovative take on the hyper-local ingredients used in their dishes, many of which come from the estate's beautiful heirloom garden. There is also a fascinating walled vineyard on the property: in fact, Venissa is best known for the white wine it produces from the Dorona varietal, native to the Venetian Lagoon but long forgotten until Gianluca Bisol, Venissa's owner, discovered and planted an abandoned vine on Mazzorbo nearly fifteen years ago. In addition to tours of the vineyard and guided wine tastings, visitors to Venissa have the rare opportunity to completely immerse themselves into Venetian Lagoon culture by way of boating excursions, rowing lessons with the Rowing Club of Burano, photography exhibitions, and private tours of largely undiscovered sites on the most ancient islands of the Venetian Lagoon. ... more   less
