Detailed Reviews
Roger is both an amazing host and surf instructor. His Airbnb properties are extremely clean and full of amenities - he has everything you could possibly need. We had a great internet connection, enjoyed the Roku tv in our downtime, and the pool felt great post-surf. The locations of his properties are on point as well, being close to Rincon but also providing backyard privacy. Above all, Roger is a great communicator (and now friend)! He is always readily available via phone to answer any questions you may have about the best restaurants, etc. I also highly recommend his surf instruction and guiding. On our second trip with Roger, he guided us each morning and we scored clean, shoulder to head high waves at five different breaks in Rincon and Aguadilla. We can’t wait for the next trip!

From the start communication was great. We set up the villa and surf lessons with Roger. The villa was in great condition and provided a great opportunity to have friends and family all together. We had beaches and great food nearby. Really great to be away from the madness and enjoy the great views and sunshine.

The place is beautiful. Its on the top of a hill over looking the ocean. Big kitchen and plenty of bathrooms. There is also an in ground swimming pool! A cup of coffie and the view in the morning is a really nice way to wake up.

I just returned from a week at Surf787 and it was exactly what I was hoping for -- and then some.
I'm a 51 year old surfer with average skills and have been to Rincon to surf twice before this. Rented a house once (got broken into) and stayed at Bunger's (great spot but you'll never sleep for the party/music) This time I was looking for a little local knowledge and a nice place to stay so I could surf all day and sleep all night -- and boy did I score with Roger and Lisa.
Surf787 is on the southwestern side of Rincon. It sits way up on a hill overlooking the ocean. It’s safe, quiet and it caters to surfers from their late 20s to early 50s. He doesn’t rent to teenagers.
It’s the anti-Casa Verde which is where you go if your 17 or 18 and want to drink, party and surf hungover. So think of it as a surfer’s bed and breakfast for grown-ups.
The owner, Roger, is a solid cat. He’s from Brazil and he seems to do everything right. I didn’t do a lesson from him, but he only hires locals as teachers (unlike Rincon surf and board which hires gringo’s who don’t know or really care about the area). And he never has a ratio that exceeds 2 students for 1 instructor. Safety is a primary concern.
He also does guided surfing where he drives you around and shows you spots until you find the one you like. Spends 4 hours with you and gives you tips on where to get in and out (critical everywhere because it’s mostly all reef) and where to sit for best position.
It's like hooking up with a buddy who already knows the area. So a lot of his value is the local knowledge of knowing what spot is best according to wind and swell. As long as there's a swell somewhere, you are guaranteed to score great waves because Roger will find them for you.
They rent short boards, fun boards and long boards. All of which are in decent to great shape. I was on a 8’1” MacTavish Carver that had only been ridden a handful of times.
Accommodations are great too. They built the house just 2 years ago and they keep it in immaculate shape. They have two happy dogs that they rescued from the street and are super healthy now and will likely join you for breakfest! You can just do a straight up bed and breakfast or they have some all-inclusive deals that include surf lessons, dinners and other little trips.
I came as a B&B guest. They serve coffee, fruit and home-made baked goods (Lisa is an excellent cook/chef) for breakfast and will do it whatever hour you tell them you want it. I always pow-wowed with Roger during the day and in the evenings to talk about swell and wind direction and where the best spots would be.
I'm an experienced surf traveler and I highly recommend Surf787.
When you go here, you can't go wrong!
Enjoy.

Dear Fellow Traveler,
Situated on top of a hill, this spacious Surf Villa has tremendous views. With many rooms opening up directly to the outside, you can inhale and simply live. From private rooms to renting the entire villa, Surf 787 has it all. Roger, the owner, has a 50+ quiver that allows you to just show up and surf. Breakfast was included with my private room along with a TV, mini fridge, and A/C.
The Surf Villa has a laundry list of amenities: pool, bbq, game room (includes billiards, ping pong, and of course N64 :), laundry room, and a Yoga studio (though the roof still needed to be replaced during my stay due to the storm. Not to say you can’t still breathe and stretch without a roof :). My favorite part of the Villa was waking up to breakfast, the pool, the views, and Sunny, Roger’s adorable outdoor cat.
From beginners to pros, Roger has the local knowledge to coach your surf trip. He offers lessons, half day and full day trips. As all surf trips go, the waves and wind are up to Mother Nature. Regardless, Roger can help guide you through it all, and if all surf fails, you can come back to the Villa to retreat for the comfortable views including beautiful poolside star gazing at night.
All in all, Surf 787 is up, running, and thriving. You should plan at least a weekend retreat on your Puerto Rico vacation. Thursday is Art Walk in the city square. It’s a must.
Cheers,
JackO

The Surf 787 guest villa is located in very clean, beautiful and safe place.
From beginners to expert surfers Captain Roger has everything organized and figured out for you. The location is very ideal high up in the hill away from mosquitoes and madness of traffick noise with view to the entire Rincon.
It's more convenient to stay here due to distance to all the epic surf breaks in north and northwest.
Nice swimming pool is a right at the side yard and Captain Roger has all the surf equipment ready for you in a minutes.
The place has benefited me in many different ways and I strongly recommend this place to anyone who wants easy fun and safe place to stay.

Best surf trip ever! Amazing views, delicious freshly made breakfasts, friendly dogs, and the best waves on this side of the continent! I highly recommend staying at surf787!
Side Note: My friend and I, made the fatal mistake of not renting a car in Puerto Rico (taxi fares killed us). This would have totally ruined the trip but Roger was gracious enough to drop us off and pick us up in town so we can grab food. He even took us to a wonderful restaurant for dinner on our last day! He did not have to do this, but he did anyway! Thanks for making this trip memorable, will be back soon! - Genesis

This villa has an amazing view and entertaining dogs. I went during a non-busy week, but this place is great for meeting new people and has almost everything (pools, ping pong, pool, parking, and more). Roger did great with the villa.
Roger and our surf instructor, Nego, are great and I highly recommend them and Surf 787. They are extremely patient, friendly and knowledgeable about the waves and Rincon. This was my first time surfing and I felt that I have learned a lot about surfing. They are very encouraging and made the experience fun when I was struggling. This experience has made me want to continue learning how to surf.

Echoing all the reviews ahead of me, Roger has a good thing going. The house is clean, the view is stunning, the pool is great, and the breakfast is yummy. A ten minute drive from downtown Ricón, it's tucked away just enough. Price is very reasonable and competitive. Roger is a very knowledgeable and passionate surf guide and instructor. Would love to come back for an even longer stay!

Stayed with Roger in the guest villa and had fresh homemade breakfast on the porch overlooking Desecheo Island every morning. Roger is not only knowledgeable with where to surf but also on other activities on the island. He will direct you to the best guides no matter what you want to do that day.
My surf instructor, Nego, was patient, kind and a complete professional. I surfed with him two years ago and it literally felt like I had seen him yesterday. When you are hanging out with someone in the water for two or more hours a day, comfort around that person is key. I got up and stayed up due to Nego's great pointers. It really is beneficial to go ahead and pay for surf lessons no matter what your surfing level may be. We all tend to develop bad habits that maybe we don't even notice ourselves, but Roger and his crew can help rectify those.
Great experience all around! I cannot wait to go back in a few months to surf again. Counting down the days!
Thanks again guys!
