Perched atop Piña Hill overlooking a lush jungle landscape, The English Rose has been a staple of the Rincón community for nearly 15 years. Our newly renovated guest house features five distinctive guest rooms including three habitacións and two suites, each highlighting Rincón-based artisans and tradesmen. The Pool features an infinity edge with a dramatic vista over the valley framing the sunset. The English Rose is a hilltop oasis, but just a short walk from Playa Escalera and Tres Palmas, and a quick drive to the center of Rincón.

Needs to be said up front that this guest house is home to one of the most popular breakfast and lunch restaurants in all of Rincón, and that means servers are moving furniture on the floor above you at 6 a.m. and eaters will snag your parking spot if you leave. There’s a buzz about the place for the entire first half of the day, but it settles down quickly at closing time at 3. Also, they do allow some locals to visit the beautiful pool during the day, but it never got out of hand and we enjoyed connecting with the expat local crowd. … Though there are no innkeepers on site whenever we had a question via text they were immmediately responsive. Yes, they would bring an extra towel, yes they would come check the loud AC unit, yes they would throw a couple of free limes our way when we joked that we needed some for our in-room cocktails. Staff in the restaurant was extremely friendly, including the housekeeper who was also keeper of the resident cats. Rooms had a luxe feel even if the dehumidifier and AC together were pretty loud….though we talked ourselves into saying they provided restful white noise at night. … Salt-water pool was kept at a perfect temp and dumbwaiter would deliver drinks or meals when requested. Best of all was the location, up above the hubbub of Rincón but close to everything once you descended the hill.

The English Rose is a gem in Rincon, boasting a beautiful location on a hilltop with views of the ocean. The pool is lovely and the food for breakfast and lunch is fantastic. A few things to note, however. This is very much a "guest house" - we were never welcomed or acknowledged in person by any staff during our stay there (they did reply immediately to text/email if we had any issues, however). This is not an issue for most, but if you're looking for a hotel experience this is not one. Second, there is a good deal of noise in the early morning - mainly coming from the kitchen and the driveway (particularly if you are staying in the lower two rooms by the pool). We tried to sleep in but were woken up by banging and clanging every morning as early as 7 am. Overall I would highly recommend staying here - the location, pools and rooms are lovely.

I stayed at the English Rose with my wife and we very much enjoyed our stay. The facilities and property itself were probably the best we saw in Rincon in terms of style, cleanliness, view, and comfort. The pool was one of our favorites of anywhere we've stayed and it was so much fun watching the iguanas climb in the surrounding trees and even walk across the pool deck! The rooms are spacious and we really enjoyed having a balcony to enjoy the view out over the pool and down the hill to the ocean. The nice touches of prompt daily housekeeping; shampoo, soaps and shower gels; and numerous places to store and hang clothes and towels were appreciated as well. As other reviewers have noted, the restaurant is located on the floor above the balcony rooms so every morning around 7am or so, we heard voices and furniture being moved. We tend to get up on the early side anyway but if you are hoping for a peaceful morning of sleeping in, that may be difficult to find here. There are 2 rooms on the pool-level floor which I would imagine would be quieter if that is important to you. It was a nice touch that they provided earplugs in the room, which we did use. The main thing that keeps me from giving a 5-star review is that it tended to feel throughout our stay that the restaurant is the main focus here. From the noise in the morning to the very challenging parking situation, particularly on Saturday's and Sundays (we couldn't find a parking spot during restaurant hours and had to park further down the road), we didn't necessarily feel prioritized as guests here. Another way this came across was through our interactions with the management. No one was outright unfriendly to us, but we were never actually welcomed and were often responded to as if we were taking up valuable time or should have known the answer to what we were asking. Several of the staff at the restaurant, however, were very friendly and always said good morning and asked if they could help with anything, which we greatly appreciated. I would also add that since the little touches often make the boutique hotel/guest house experience, it would have been nice to have things like tea and coffee provided complimentary to guests, whether in the room or from the restaurant, or maybe even a welcome drink when guests arrive to help guests' first experience of the guest house feel a bit more inviting. Overall, I would recommend this property to others looking to have a beautiful and comfortable place to return to each day after enjoying Rincon.

Our group of 4 stayed at the English Rose for 3 nights in February 2022. Our rooms were beautiful, clean, and cleaned regularly throughout our stay. The staff was so warm and welcoming. Knowing that we were guests at the hotel they provided a little extra care without being intrusive. Overall, it was a beautiful experience and I would certainly recommend. My only feedback? We wish the restaurant could be open for happy hour cocktails to enjoy the beautiful sunset! The pool is SO amazing - would have loved a little pool-side snack menu option or something? However, I'm sure had we asked it would have been accommodated! Thank you, English Rose - I can't wait to see you again!

I am so disappointed in this boutique hotel. We checked in after a 3 hour drive and wanted to rest a bit before dinner. Couldn’t rest because they were cleaning the restaurant located above our (most) room and the noise level was ridiculous. Same thing again the next morning. We woke at 5:45 am because they were cleaning the restaurant and pulling tables and chairs across the floor. I should have known we were in trouble when I noticed earplugs next to our bed side. Don’t bother staying here. Lots of charming boutique hotels to stay in Rincon.

Our honeymoon stay at The English Rose was wonderful! We had a very seamless check in and checkout process. The pool was clean and perfect temperature. The rooms were spotless, and we loved having breakfast out on our patio overlooking the jungle and ocean. My one small complaint would be that the coffee from the restaurant was really not great, so much that we would go into town to buy other coffee in the mornings.

The newly remodeled rooms came out beautiful and are very well cleaned. Kudos to the lovely ladies! The brunch was delicious. Kudos to the kitchen team! I would say service is non existent since there is there is no one to greet you upon arrival. You receive an email with your assigned room name and your room key is literally on the door to your room when you arrive. They also leave an envelope with the Credit Card Authorization Form which you are supposed to bring signed to the restaurant in case you consume any thing from the mini bar. The pool deck is lovely. We only wished they had someone serving drinks but we knew this was not a service provided so we brought a small cooler. I wish there was a small safe to keep some valuables while we were out. The one piece of constructive criticism is we were woken up daily by the opening of the restaurant above us. We could hear them moving the tables and chairs and setting up. Other than this, it was very lovely and I wouldn't mind staying again should I find myself visiting Rincon again.

We stayed at the English Rose for four nights. The rooms are tastefully appointed and views are wonderful. The pool is supremely relaxing. Guest rooms are on the ground level and second floor, and the very popular restaurant is on the third floor. If you are noise sensitive or like to sleep in, you might want to stay on the ground floor since restaurant noise can be heard rather early. Our only suggestion is that the hotel might consider adding an in-room coffee option; you have to wait for the restaurant to open and/or drive down the hill to get an early cup of joe.

We stayed at two hotels during our visit to Rincon, and preferred the English Rose by a lot.

This place is truly a hidden gem. My husband and I have been to Rincon four times, and this is without a doubt the best place we’ve ever stayed! It has incredible views fr on the top of the hill, the restaurant offers incredible food, the staff is insanely kind, and it is STUNNING! Jessica, the owner, is also awesome — we met her and spoke with her for no more than five minutes and afterwards she immediately sent champagne to our room.

Can’t recommend enough!

Hotel has best breakfast in Rincon. I doubt they serve breakfast on the closed days. The host are great at answering emails. The breakfast was worth $25 per head ! It was unexpectedly perfect.
