The hotel El Horcajo is located within the boundary of Grazalema Natural Park. The park encompasses the western section of the Cordillera mountain range and is at an altitude of between 250m and 1654m above sea level. Hotel El Horcajo Ronda Entorno The Park has an area of over 50,000 Hectares and has been declared a UNESCO 'Biosphere Reserve'. It is also designated by the EC as an area of special protection for birds. The park is a botanist's dream, boasting an exceptional richness of flora. There is an area of natural forest of the Spanish fir-Abies pinsapa - which is a remnant of the forest which covered the region during the last glaciation. Such an area is found nowhere else in Spain. The species has been in existence since the Tertiary period and are known as "living fossils". The other vegetation in the park, such as cork oak and the wide variety of beautiful wild flowers, is distinctly Mediterranean. There is plenty of wildlife, including mountain goats, foxes and roe deer; and birds like the common vulture (one of the largest colonies in Europe, in fact), the osprey eagle and the golden eagle. The park is on the migration route for birds flying south from Northern Europe to Africa. Eagles can be frequently spotted in the park. Hotel El Horcajo Ronda Entorno From a geological point of view the park belongs to the Cordillera betica. On the western perimeter of the park are found three important caves. The Cueva del Hundidero, Cueva del Gato and Cueva de la Pileta. The natural Park of Grazalema is a nature lover's paradise. Interesting to note is the fact that the park has its own microclimate, with some areas recording the highest average rainfall in Spain. This is due to the absence of any significant mountains to the west. When the wind blows from the Atlantic in the west, these are the first mountains the humid air meets. The effect is very localized with some zones of the park recording three times the rainfall of other nearby points.

With this situation of Covid, we wanted to spend a special New Year's Eve, then we decided to have a family night in this beautiful and quiet hotel. We couldn´t have chosen better!!! An excellent climate, wonderful treatment of the staff, who make you feel at home (or better), a relaxed and spectacular environment, if you are looking for nature, calm, space for children, space for you, a place to disconnect and where we will get back for sure!! Chosen it as our Top destination !! Very highly recommended !!!

Hotel El Horcajo is down a steep winding road in a valley south of Zahara, one of the White Villages. There are adobe rooms surrounding the main part of the hotel, each with small patios which I imagine would be restful in the summer. The rooms are quite spartin with no attempt to put in more than a couch and one table. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom so so with a strange smell at times. It advertises as a working fatm but there are no animals to see. There is seating in the main lodge with a fireplace which was nice. Staff are friendly. Breakfast was ok but nothing special for a *** rating. We enjoyed the stay ad an exoerience but it did not live up to our 'working farm' expectations.

I would have liked to say I loved this place as the surrounding area is breathtakingly stunning. If it was a one star hotel and a little cheaper I would have given a higher score. The views are gorgeous, rooms just ok and in need of a lot of love and care. I would venture to guess that no renovations have been made in a number of years. A little warming decor, warmer lighting a bit of human touch could easily transform this place. Despite being a very warm early November the pool was closed. Would have been nice to know. I expected it to be silent but the next door rooms tv seemed to be blasted in my ear. Not even ear plugs helped. I think it was more the paper thin walls than anything as I could hear the talking like we were in the same room. Food is simple and good.

If you like a rustic room with white stonewalls and no decoration in a place located at the end of a road winding down around 100 meters you will like this. Horcajo is as authentic it can be (with aircon and hot water though) and the location is very fine. You have great walking routes within the area of the farm/hotel and easy access to the rest of the Agrazelama natural park. No Internet but good mobile coverage. Swimming pool is of good size and great standard. But don't go here for the gourmet food experience. Food is rather expensive related to the quality you get. We tried the close by hotel Cortijo Salinas having excellent food and Michelin-like service at fair prices and for lunch the bar at the busstop (Bar de la paradas) at top of the close by town of Montecorto had the most excellent tapas (large ones too) at very low prices. We will visit these places again with friends later this year.

Room was very clean with comfortable bedsheets and blankets. Service from all of the staff - very friendly and welcoming, and fun! Food - is perfect for the location. Fresh bread, cheeses, juice, etc. If you want to eat "like back home" please stay there... Price and value cant be beat and you will avoid the tourist traps in Ronda.
