Stay during our business trip, it was very located for trip. Good restaurant at hotel with fix daily dinner menu. Short walk in forest before dinner was perfect. Room is just normal no any surprises. Big parking lot.
If your looking to get away for reflection or relaxation this place is ideal. It has beautiful paths to enjoy walks in nature, plenty of places to relax, play or read. Staff are supper friendly and go above and beyond for their guest.
I abselutely loved our stay at Skarrildhus. The surroundings and immediate settings of this hotel are breathtaking. The tranquility of the forest and the river running right by the place is not only enjoyed from the outside, but from the rooms as well. We were lucky to stay in a room in one of the end sections with a splendid view to both forest and river. Both rooms and communal areas are jam packed with original Danish Design classics and pieces of art. The atmosphere in the historical and beautifully restored buildings is homey and very friendly. The food in the restaurant is delicious with emphasis on organic and locally sourced products. Both breakfast and dinner had me wanting to stay extra days in order to enjoy the simple - yet tasty and healthy meals. If you are extra lucky, maybe you will meet waiter and somellier, Emil, who with his knowledge and passion for wine makes the experience unforgettable. All staff, in fact were friendly and extremely serviceminded from check in to chec out. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves beautiful spaces, nature, Danish design and love of organic food.…
Great location, decent dinner and excellent breakfast. The location is fantastic, tranquil and beautiful nature is surrounding the place and the quite river is adding a lot to the atmosphere. We had the grill buffet dinner which was decent, but not a lot of things that kids usually enjoy. The staff was friendly but seemed inexperienced and we had to constantly ask for service or to get instructions for how the buffet worked. The breakfast was really great by any standard, fresh bread, fantastic strawberries, home made juice and jams. One of the better hotel breakfasts I have had! However the lack of blinders in the room and the thick covers made the room hot and very very bright all night which made it impossible to sleep. When I asked if I could get a later checkout because of the horrible experience, the lady in the reception unwillingly granted us to leave the room at 11:30 instead of 10:00. Now I’m leaving this place and probably a hazard on the road due to the lack of sleep. Truly a shame, since this place has so much potential.…
This place is pricey- but we’d had a terrible year with family losses, illness, hospitals etc, and our son deserved a trip to Legoland (...jeepers...). This place c.35km from LegoHighwaymanLand, but closest we could get. Clean, modern, stylish, wonderful location. Night 1; a long travelling day, as it’s isolated we ate in the restaurant from the FIXED menu. 2 adults + 1 nine-year-old was c.£115/ DKr 930. Only upon checkout did I discover the £6-ish child cover charge. Food was high quality, very a la carte, Heston Blumenthal (Sp?) would be proud. That said, the ‘oven oxidised broccoli’ almost made my wife throw up, and we had to ask for a more child friendly dish...meatballs, dirty new potatoes and peeled raw carrots incidentally...om nom nom for ~DKr130... Dinner took 2.5 hours, btw....... Ironically the hotel staff couldn’t be more supportive of children...but I guess I bought that for £6. Also, there are shower water monitors...average Dane takes 6 minutes in the shower apparently... Night 2. Uneventful. My wife asked for ‘hot water’ as she likes a particular tea...we didn’t ask to play golf in the lobby with satsumas for balls, but it took some explaining and 15 minutes for the water to arrive. Slept well, breakfast included- excellent breakfast for adventurous palates, not so for those of a simpler food demeanour. Night 3. So...some ‘fishing club’ met up, swigging Irish whiskey from bottles at the back of their cars at 1930h...yay for them. 2340h, 2 of these ‘sportsmen’ sat in the easy chairs outside our room (WHY do hotels do that?????), shouting and joking about. Yay for them. Asked them to politely move on, they did. Also on was some kind of party celebration. 0250h the car doors stopped slamming...being a lovely old house it’s boiling hot, so do I cook or be woken up every 10 minutes because the window is open? Morning 3- Surprise! Here’s a massive bill for an artisan meal plus a child’s cover charge...no mention of drunk residents or door slamming drivers- open and close each door twice, ok?? High-end hotel, gorgeous grounds, some residents worth more than others (xenophobia?), arcane billing system...3 stars is generous due to daft prices and NOISE, which apparently, in the car park, isn’t their issue...…
