Detailed Reviews
Jumby Bay, a very high- end resort, has much to recommend it for the luxury traveler. Our Ocean Front room was beautifully decorated, with a sleek contemporary look, and big wonderful bathroom. It also had a large patio with comfortable lounge chairs and table. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. The polite and friendly staff was most accommodating to every request.
The beach is white sand and the water clear and calm for easy swimming. All day long beach servers walked up and down the beach offering delicious snacks and beverages. The swimming pool at the beach is lovely, but often was busy with children who were staying at the luxury homes on the island. A fun expedition is the free boat tour of the private homes around the island. The only negative at the resort to us is that when sitting on the beach, the view across the bay is of the airport. For us this very much took away that wonderful feeling we hoped for of being far away in a special location. We did not like the constant visual reminder that home and the real world were staring us in the face. For this reason-and this reason only, we will probably not return.

My husband and I just returned from our first trip to Jumby Bay. I was a little worried that we wouldn't receive the full experience due to Covid, but I was quickly reassured once we arrived and I can't imagine a more perfect trip! Masks, wipes and hand sanitizer were provided in our room and hand sanitizer stations were found around the property. All staff wore masks and I felt more safe on the island than my daily routine at home. The only Covid related issue we encountered was the beach being shutdown one afternoon due to a holiday. Even though we prefer the beach, it gave us a chance to check out the pool which we otherwise would not have visited. We also had a snorkeling trip scheduled for part of that afternoon and the resort offered to reschedule to another day without hesitation.
The Jumby Bay beach was our favorite spot on the island. There is sea grass growing on parts of the ocean floor, which was a little disappointing at first, but the water is clear. If the grass bothers you, there are floats provided at each beach setup. Another reviewer mentioned the airport taking away from the experience of being on the island, but my husband and I did not feel the same. We loved spending every day on the beach and the sunsets were incredible!
The food, drinks and snacks were all amazing. We did not have one mediocre meal and and I'm very particular when it comes to food. We ate at all the restaurants and attended White Night, Caribbean Night and Farm to Table Night. Even though I was originally hesitant about the Farm to Table evening, it was our favorite. We did not attend many other events offered, such as cooking classes or wine tastings, but we did take the Sunset Cruise and highly recommend!
The staff is what makes this island truly special. Ashley helped me tremendously with planning our trip, answered several questions and made our meal reservations. Dariane and Colton were very informative upon arrival and throughout our stay. Akelia and Ishmael always greeted us at the Veranda for breakfast each morning and made sure our orders were perfect. Indi, Maureen, Giant and Omarie always made sure we had everything we needed at the beach. Sherard always made great suggestions at the Estate House for dinner and Jade', which served us each night at the Veranda Bar, made sure I got a special dessert before leaving. I highly suggest the soufflés at the Estate House - especially the chocolate soufflé!
It was a wonderful experience and we can't wait to visit Jumby Bay again!

This was our first visit since Jumby changed from being managed by Rosewood to an Oetker Collection hotel, and on the whole we were impressed. Some rooms have been refurbished and are now brighter and even more luxurious. There have have also been some improvements in food and wine offered in the various restaurants. Maybe the only criticism is the servicing of rooms which seems to be very over-complicated and lending itself to items being missed out on a daily basis. But I am sure this is just a case of a management teething problem though.

We arrived at Jumby Bay and knew from the get-go something seemed off. Long wait at dock. We usually expect 20-30 minutes, but after an hour, we were getting antsy.
Upon our arrival on the island, we were ready to start anew and enjoy the holiday. Our villa was not ready, so we headed to have a drink and were greeted by a lovely staff member. The staff at JB is still overall very accommodating and pleasant. We went to make dinner reservations to be told that our times were not available for any of the days we wanted. Ok, we pivoted and switched up. Tried to schedule massages, but nothing available on the days we wanted. We would be understanding of this, but we called in advance from US to schedule and were told to schedule once we arrived. We hoped to have dinner on the beach and someone was going to call us back about this, the call never came. We felt like the forgotten guests. The beach service was spotty throughout the week. Some days it was great, other days we saw staff in the early part of the day but they were mostly huddled at the bar. We walked up to the bar, which wasn't the biggest hardship, but in the past, wait staff roamed the beach. The beach is still beautiful. Our villa was fine, but once again....we had no turn down service half of the nights we were there. We missed the Jumby Bay when Rosewood managed it. In those days, we felt like the resort genuinely cared if we had a good visit, if things were to our liking and made sure simple requests were met. Other guests noticed the difference too as did a nice couple who are homeowners. They felt Oetker lacked the warmth of what draws people to the island. Additionally, for all the issues we had scheduling, the hotel wasn't terribly crowded. We heard about another hotel on the mainland that we will try in the fall. Jumby's prices jumped and the experience dropped. Simply not worth it.

Everyone is feeling the need to get away and return to normalcy given the last 14 months of the pandemic. Jumby Bay was the ideal post pandemic getaway. My family felt safe and at ease with all the safety precautions that the resort has in place to protect employees as well as guests. We did not book this trip lightly...we did lots of research prior to booking, and Jumby Bay did not disappoint. I read all the online reviews and was actually surprised to see comments concerning staff, scheduling etc. I found the service to be top notch, from the moment we landed on Antigua, to the moment our plane departed. Leann assisted me with scheduling our trip prior to our arrival, and she was so efficient and helpful.
We had a rough start on our first day of travel leaving Philly to fly down. My husband wasn't able to get on our flight due to staffing issues at the departure baggage check in, so he stayed with our bags and missed the flight. So upon arrival, the kids and I were a little stressed given the situation, but the staff was friendly and welcoming. They attended to every question and need, the service was top notch. We stayed at the Blue Belle villa which had a wonderful pool and private beach. The villa keepers; Melissa, Charles and Inita were so kind and friendly. The villa was impeccable and consistently stocked. We enjoyed having 2 golf carts to get around the island. The White Night Beach BBQ was a lot fun as was the wine tasting where we met a very nice couple and sampled delicious wines courtesy of Jessica. We had the all inclusive package and the food was delicious as well as healthy. Our favorite dinners were at Veranda, but the Estate House ambiance could not be beat, we had two dinners there as well. There are plenty of water activities if you want to be active, but it was also nice to relax on the main beach under the shade of the cabanas (Travis was always so helpful with setting up the amenities at the cabana for our family). All the servers were super nice and friendly...we enjoyed chatting with them daily. I hate to even mention names because I would hate to leave anyone out, but Deleah, Alexander, Asheeka, Akeila, Amanda, Jesse, Jacqueline and Patel were just so attentive and fun to chat with. Overall, this was the perfect, true R&R post pandemic getaway. The island was fully booked, yet we did not come across many people at all except the White Night Beach BBQ. Great family memory for the books!

Rosewood management was far superior to the new updated Oetker.
Incredible beach, food, and staff, but complete lack of proper dining / activity scheduling and organization at double the price makes it a low value experience in comparisson to other luxury Caribbean options. Lots of small first world problems add up when you’re spending this price point, so not to bore you with the details, but you have better options.
They’ve packed the island with more guests than the wonderful staff can handle; what was once a mostly reservation free, all inclusive flexible vacation experience, turned into a regimented scheduling disaster that we had to fight for on a daily basis to eventually get into the estate house, boat rental, and nightly activities.
They did accommodate our complaints... but begrudgingly.
If you choose to go, prepare to schedule every meal weeks before arrival to the hour.
If it were my choice - Go to Amanyara instead.

Jumby Bay is a magical island with gorgeous beaches, beautiful Caribbean blue water and wonderful food!
We have been to many luxury resorts and the suites at Jumby are among the best in the world. Beautiful Caribbean decor with airy high ceilings and well-appointed bathrooms. Loved the outdoor bathroom space!
Their creative menus provided lots of dining options. The Estate House was phenomenal. We also enjoyed the “white night” and Caribbean theme beach barbecues with music and dancing. Delicious local grilled lobster!
There were so many warm and gracious people that made our stay memorable. Ariel and Sean at the water sports area are phenomenal. Housekeeping ladies were the best! Thank you!
Natasha, who graciously showed us villas for our children and extended family to celebrate my moms 80th birthday. Jashera at the pool grill is one of the most personable and on-point staff we have come across anywhere and should be in a high profile position...And so many others who made our stay warm and memorable. It’s always about the people!
We plan to return soon, as we add Jumby Bay to our Caribbean favorites!

We just returned from a week vacation at Jumby Bay. We have traveled to most 4 and 5 star hotels in the Caribbean over the past 20 years. Jumby Bay was one of the last we wanted to visit. We have never been more disjointed in our experiences than this week.
We booked a beach suite, but we were given suite 38, which over looked a 5 foot cliff. No beach in site. When we called management, they told us they could “upgrade us” our last 2 days. A beach suite, is feet away from the beach. What we had was an ocean view room.
Beach service is horrible. We would see someone in the morning and never again. We would have to walk down to the bar for drinks on the beach.
We asked about using or renting a golf cart and we’re told $200 a day.
We asked for a late check out of 1 pm and we’re told no.
I would give the following ratings.
Hotel grounds. 5 star. Property looks amazing
Beach service. 0 stars
Housekeeping. 5 stars
Management. 0 stars
Food quality. 3 stars
Restaurant service 3 stars

We are disheartened to know that your recent stay at Jumby Bay Island was disappointing. We also note that the beach service experience was not what it should have been. We would like to sincerely apologise. I live in Southeast Asia and regularly visit the best resorts in Southeast Asia. Jumby Bay is at the pinnacle of what’s possible in a resort. I’m so amazed and impressed by it. I just wish there were easier ways to travel between Asia and the Caribbean.
Jumby Bay is its own private island. The island is relatively large for a resort and takes around 20 minutes to bicycle around it.
All food and beverage is included in the room rental. The food is outstanding. Every meal I had at every restaurant at Jumby Bay was extraordinary. I came here with an intention to eat very healthy, and I was successfully able to do so at Jumby Bay, but I must admit the food was so sublime that it took a lot of willpower to not try everything.
This was a fitness and health restoration restaurant for me. The exercise classes such as Barre Body and Stretching were great, and the personal trainer was extraordinary. So I got in a lot of exercise while here. I am leaving Jumby Bay very revitalized and healthy.
The facilities are fantastic and extremely well maintained. Clearly, they pay attention to detail, even the smallest things. Everything works. There is no need to call maintenance about anything. I would say the standards are as higher or maybe higher than Four Seasons or St. Regis.
The resort is very fully staffed and there is someone looking after everything. The staff are extremely friendly, always introducing themselves by name and making an attempt to engage with the guests. It seems to me that many of the guests have formed personal friendships with the staff, which is not really something I see at resorts in Asia.
It was a great decision for me to choose Jumby Bay. I strongly recommend this resort and I certainly have the intention to return in the future.

On the whole Jumby Bay was lovely, lovely island, lovely room and lovely staff. But there was nothing unique or special about it, certainly not to justify the price. You are most definitely paying to say you have been to Jumby Bay.
On the last day we had to be out of our room for 12 (after some unprofessional negotiating) we only had access to a hospitality suite from 3.45 until 4.30 (when our boat was leaving), found out that no one was in it beforehand and considering we had to wait for our room when we arrived, it wasn't good enough.
The biggest disappointment was the food. The food we had at dinner in the main restaurant was poor, it wasn't bad, it just wasn't anywhere near the standard you would expect.
The estate house was lovely, food was on a different level but it's not open every evening, the menu didn't change and the specials were not on each evening it was open.
The farm night was very disorganised, again the food was just ok, would definitely give it a miss if we went back. On the other hand, the white night was elegant and romantic, it was unforgettable. There was a great variety of food and what we had was beautiful.
As previously stated, Jumby Bay is lovely, but you certainly don't get what you pay for - you pay to say you've been to Jumby Bay.

This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
dining is essentially open air at all 4 of the dining options
no mask is needed
some wear a mask as a courtesy when in transit to table ......we didnt
the staff ( bless them ) are working hard and remain masked
everyone is double vaxxed
you will only be asked to wear a mask when you are in an enclosed area ( which will be very infrequent ) unless you live in the excellent resort shop !
