Donna Matt & their staff go out of their way to make your stay & event as enjoyable & easy as possible. The guesthouse rooms are comfortable with lots of added extras that make it very homey. They really do think of everything. There are lots of common areas where family & friends can gather, chat share a drink or two, relax & catch up. The added bonus of a kitchen/dining area, ironing room & games area makes it the perfect place for all ages no matter the occasion. We also made use of the party barn and bbq area on the Friday night a great way to kick start the festivities.
The function areas are amazing, Donna has everything you need to create a truly magical setting for your ultimate dream wedding reception. The food was first class & perfect portion sizes. Nothing was too much trouble or a bother to arrange. The bar area is also comfy and a great place to chat away from the music and dancing. Being able to bring your own alcohol makes it that much more personal again, as well as cost effective.
Sylvan Glen provides you with everything you could possibly want in a truly superb venue. The salon provides enough room for makeup, hair and even space to get dressed. Letting the ladies enjoy time together, while the men can have a round of golf or game of pool.
You park your car on Friday afternoon and no need to get in it again until Sunday afternoon.
The grounds are amazing with lots of different backdrops for those all important photos.
I would be surprised if anyone went hungry at Sylvan Glen, starting with the meal on Friday night, through to a full hot cooked breakfast both days if you want it, they also have a range of cereals, toasts, fruit and yoghurt if you want a lighter option. Delicious bread rolls for lunch on Saturday another welcome idea as you get ready or help set up things.
Donna Matt & their staff are the ultimate hosts and take pride in providing an outstanding venue and service to one and all no matter the occasion. They are friendly efficient, and always on hand to answer questions or requests with a smile, no matter how many times I called or emailed in a day!
Can not recommend them highly enough or thank them enough. Would definitely rate them and their venue more then 5 if I could.
Thanks so much

We recently celebrated my husband’s 70th birthday at Sylvan Glen. 46 adults and 8 kids across three generations! From the minute we arrived on the Friday afternoon to leaving on the Sunday afternoon, everything was perfect. Donna & Matt were so helpful and responsive, and a delight to deal with. An outdoor BBQ & Firepit on the Friday night. Kids could enjoy games, football golf, and running around on the course. The house, cottages and rooms were clean and beautifully appointed. So much character! Our friends and family enjoyed a three course sit down dinner on the Saturday evening. Food was superb and we loved the local wines recommended by Donna.
Highly recommend Sylvan Glen for any special event, or even just a weekend away.

Outstanding easiest way to put it. As a wedding photographer I get to travel to many locations and this place is a true highlight. We felt so welcome from the beginning from the owners and had an amazing experience shooting the wedding. Beautiful property and amazing staff and owners. Highly recommend any bride and groom to look into it.

We recently stayed at Sylvan Glen as wedding guests and unfortunately I have to say that for the price we paid I was expecting somewhat luxurious accommodation. Sadly the accommodation facilities were far from it. For the $250/night price tag I would at the very least expect a queen size bed and a TV in the room. Instead we found ourselves in 'dorm style' facilities in a double bed and no TV. Not to mention there wasn't any natural light at all in the room making it very difficult to get ready for a wedding.

The wedding itself was lovely and the grounds of the property are absolutely beautiful. It's a shame though that the accommodation wasn't up to scratch (or more so that it wasn't reflective of the price). If I was paying $150 a night then I wouldn't have felt disappointed. It seems to me though it's a matter of charging through the roof as the rooms are certain to sell with an entire wedding in town and limited accommodation available.

Rooms are terribly overpriced. No locks on any bedroom doors, rooms are old and outdated, beds are very uncomfortable and you can feel the springs when sleeping. Iron and ironing boards are dirty- bring your own! Rooms were never cleaned, Towels were never changed and soap etc was never restocked. For $240 this was a joke and anything over $80 would be paying too much, bridal sweet maybe $100 max.

Not the best review! For future travellers, I would like to respond to try and make clear our pricing and inclusions as I can't help feel that this review and two others are missing the point here. $240 (inc 10% GST don't forget!) is not the charge just for the room. Our rooms are en-suite bedrooms as part of the whole guesthouse! So everyone enjoy's the other living areas, perhaps the fire place or sunny decks areas, a game of pool or watching a sports game on fox sports. They enjoy a full breakfast for two and tea/coffee/biscuits whenever they want and then they might play golf or tennis or volleyball etc outside and have a parking space of course. So out of $240, $21.80 is GST, $50 is breakfast (minimum for what you get), $30 for golf if only having one game per day. This leaves $138 for which the $38 could be your contribution to the rest of the house and grounds and $100 is the room only component. Our rooms are not outdated and old and clean towels and amenities for provided to last the two nights of weekend stay. If anyone would like anything, we always encourage people to ask! All this for a $4m property with only 14 rooms?! I hope travellers can look sensibly about our costs and make an informed decision. It's bridal "Suite" not sweet btw (sorry but a hurtful and inaccurate review made me correct them!)

In short, we had our wedding here and the experience was a nightmare. Not only did my husband and I experience such terrible service, but it was also experienced by our guests and vendors. Vendors described the disorganisation and lack of attention to detail of this venue as the most unprofessional they had EVER experienced in the wedding industry and guests described the owners as rude and unprofessional. I would never recommend them as a wedding venue.

In addition, our family who stayed at the venue ALL stated their rooms were dirty and unkept - simply not good enough for a wedding venue and for the money paid!

I have recently discovered this review i am totally shocked by this as in 10 years of weddings i have never had such terrible things wrote about us My staff go out of there way to ensure customers are well looked after and most importantly enjoy themselves we are more than flexable in meeting peoples requests but obviously some things we sometimes have to say no to until the wedding day Im sorry this person chose to say things that were not true to damage all the great work we do here at sylvan glen I can contact many many very happy couples Anyone concerned by this please contact sylvan glen and we will be more than happy to provide a truthfull account of the events which resulted in this review As to the cleanliness our rooms are cleaned by 4 girls and then rechecked before guests arrive so I can hand on heart say this is not true Please see sylvan glen on facebook for more true wonderful accounts of previous weddings donna hescott sylvan glen

My wife and I were recently married at Sylvan Glen. We booked the whole of Sylvan Glen (about 14 rooms) for our family and friends. Having booked the whole of the premises, we had exclusive use of the main, heritage listed, homestead, as well as the more recently built accommodation wings.

I can easily say that we have never stayed in such a charming and inviting place. All of our family and friends who stayed with us over the wedding weekend commented on the beautifully appointed rooms and stunning gardens and golf course. The bridal suite is especially beautiful, and having the run of the main house (with its real old world charm) made the whole stay a great experience.

If you want a place to bring family and friends together (no matter the occasion), Sylvan Glen is the place. We arranged a big BBQ on the first night, and had the pleasure of entertaining on the large back deck of the main homestead. Waking up the next morning to a hot country breakfast (after watching the sun rise over the glorious golf course and surrounding forest.) made it even better!

A special thank you to the proprietors, Matt and Donna, for making our stay and wedding so memorable. We cant wait to go back for our anniversary!

Not that easy to find. Signage could be better.

Rooms were clean but bathroom smelled of Urine. The beds need new mattresses as you sink in the middle. Insects and moths were flying around the room keeping you awake bring bug spray. Keep in mind if you are a light sleeper that this is near a train line and you can hear them go past.

Entered the office to find it full of tied up smelly garbage bags. Very unprofessional.

Grounds are lovely though location of wedding ceremonies could be positioned in a more shaded area of the property as it's very uncomfortable in full afternoon sun.

Food was sparse servings were limited by staff. People left hungry. To be fair maybe there are other food options available.

Dear Visitor I am so sorry you felt you had to write negative items on your trip advisor But I feel I need to clarify a few of your points raised. Sylvan Glen proudly recycles 200 kilos per week of waste. What you actually saw in the room off the kitchen was all the recycling which had just been bagged up ready to be taken to the area where we store all of this as this is some distance from the kitchen a golf cart is used to transport. One of the girls would have been preparing to move this. The office was recently relocated over at the coffee shop so was therefore not actually what you walked into. To be fair to you the old office sign was still up and has now been removed to stop any further confusion. In regards to signage we have all the signage council actually allows us to have. Details of how to find us easily are provided on our website. In regards to bugs entering your room this will happen if windows are left opened the light attracts the bugs inside. Had I known you were too warm I could have given you a fly screen and a fan. Yes the train line does go past us but this is the case around allot of the Southern Highlands. Trains are pretty limited through the night for this reason. So sorry if this kept you awake thats somewhat out of my hands. Allot of our guests tell me they enjoy the sound of the trains. In regards to the ceremony spot this is chosen by the bride and the groom. Two large umbrellas were installed to help guests in hotter days. Not sure exactly what you meant by the food was sparse breakfast is Buffett style and is monitored and refilled regularly to make sure everyone has has enough it is not limited as this is self serve. Had been made aware that people were hungry we would have gone out of our way to provide something else to make them satisfied so I am sorry we were not made aware of this. In regards to the house cleanliness the rooms are meticulously cleaned by a team of 4 ladies they are cleaned to the highest standard. I am very particular on this and I personally check every single room before guests arrive your room before you arrived definitely did not smell of urine so I cant explain that one in a polite way I am sorry. Since your stay most of the beds have been replaced had we known you were unhappy with your mattress we could have swopped it for you as we do have a few spares in storage. In all our rooms we have a sign that encourages guests to bring any problems they may have to our attention. We believe its best for us to know so we can fix these things whilst you are with us we cant change things once you have left. I am truely sorry you didn't feel you could come and talk to us with your issues. We do like to think we are all very approachable. To future guests reading this review I hope this has cleared up any concerns. kind regards Sylvan glen
