Well overpriced for an old establishment. Equipment in room very sparce, a TV that you need to stand under to be able to see, and there was mould in the bathroom. Mini bar prices out of this world. $8.50 for a $ 2.00 beer ? Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Thank you for your review. We're addressing the mildew in the bathroom immediately, thanks for letting us know so that we're able to rectify the situation for future guests. ... May I clarify our mini-bar pricing... the mini-bar contains only premium beers, competitively priced by industry standards... 2 Boags Premium Light Stubbies $5.60 and 2 Boags Premium Lager Stubbies $8.10...

Easy to find location not far off the main road. Has a large restaurant and also does breakfast in the room. Big rooms and the bed was great. All in all a pleasant and stress free experience. Would stay again

We came as a family and enjoyed great service and good quality meals. The waiter threw in a free jug of lemonade for the kids which they loved. Colouring in provided and $12.50 kids meals with soft drink and ice cream.

This is an old worn down motel that is noisy and out of the way. It caters for workman and they are loud and start work early with trucks and work Utes leaving from about 545am. They all bought take away beers from the restaurant the. Ugh this we were there and sat around their rooms outside drinking and laughing...

Thank you for taking the time to review Southern Lights Hotel, I'm sorry your stay coincided with the arrival of a group of contractors. Whilst they were all pleasant people, as a group they may have appeared a little intimidating, please know this is certainly not an image we aspire to. Comfortable room but no hotel operating on a Sunday for meals which was disappointing so had to drive to get a meal after a long drive already. Comfortable bed but no face washers provided if you like them. Gentleman was very helpful at the reception.

Good units style rooms , but make sure you ask for a self service room as it comes with a kitchen and microwave. The others don't come with either and it can be annoying if you just want a night in. Laundry service available but it is $3 for a wash and $3 for a dry. Good quiet spot though...

Thank you for your feedback... We're pleased you've found our property to be convenient, comfortable and clean... we have a limited number of deluxe rooms (only 4 in total) those are the ones with the kitchenette, all other rooms are non-catering and have mini-bar and tea & coffee making facilities. ... See you on your next visit!

Basic style accommodation, very clean and good location in relation to shopping centre and a lovely beach. Enjoyed a very generous sized, tasty and well presented meal in the restaurant. Staff were very obliging and friendly. Compared to mainland accommodation of a similar standard it was a little costly, but it appears to be standard cost for this area. Has...

I wouldn't stay again it's was noisy and certainly not a deluxe room. The mattresses were lumpy and the bunk beds squeaked every time someone moved. Was too overpriced for the quality of the room and the air conditioner filter was filthy we had to clean it.......

My partner and myself recently stayed, once entering the rooms we were both very disappointed as they were not what you expected especially when you pay $170 a night. The rooms was very old, the shower pressure was absolutely ridiculous and there were to many instructions telling you what you could and couldn't do also the tv was that small...

Stayed one night here because there was no accommodation left in Hobart. I have to say the whole place looks a bit tired and not the most friendly. There seemed to be too many instructions and signs as to what you can and cant do including do your own washing up before you leave otherwise you will be charged! I...

Thank you for your review... many hotel guests like the information in the room as they do the in-room breakfast. I'm pleased you enjoyed the views however I must advise future guests reading these reviews that our views don't extend to Hobart or any harbour, they do take in a generous portion of the Derwent River and the township of...
