We were a party of 4 adults and 4 kids visiting Eleuthera for the first time. Rob and Karell, the resort General Manager and Operations Manager, respectively, went out of their way to ensure our vacation was top notch. Our group started off in separate units but were upgraded (for a higher but reasonable rate) to the 4 bedroom house which included a full kitchen, living room and private pool. This made our family vacation perfect. Since each room comes with a golf cart and an empty cooler for provisions, it is easy to grab some drinks and snacks from the local market or Eleuthera Farms and spend the day at the beach. Snorkel gear, life jackets and kayaks are complimentary for guests and our kids loved endlessly jumping off the 2 docks. The rooms were cleaned daily and the fridge and coffeemaker always restocked. At night it was very peaceful. We ate at the resort restaurant 3 times for dinner and it was very good. The pina colada bread pudding was particularly fantastic. Leave your golf clubs at home and bring some good books as this is slow island life. The only improvement I would recommend is to offer a bin with boogie boards and sand toys for guests to borrow, as the town shops are limited. A relaxing vacation at a beautiful resort!

1. The white staff treat the staff like slaves: “I’ll see you back at the pool when we’re ready to leave.” 2. If you’re not white (Asian in this case), the staff will ignore you — happened to us at dinner. 3. The resort takes up the public beach, have no labels or any rights to the public area, and call the police if you use their chairs. They asked a pregnant woman to sit in the sun, kicked out a child from the shades umbrella and harassed non-guests on the public beach for their guests’ comfort. Stay away if you’re not white.

My wife and I stayed here for about a week in May. Getting your visa approved takes a LONG time so get it done ASAP. The hotel is amazing and has everything you could possibly need in the room e.g full kitchen, dishwasher, washer and dryer. Karell was amazing and ensured we had everything we needed during our stay. The staff at the resort and restaurant were all welcoming and kind. The views from our room and pool were amazing. I gave the hotel top marks due to the amazing service and cleanliness of the grounds. The staff went above and beyond and they also provided our required Covid test ahead of our departure. The restaurant was great but could have had more items on it. It was also very expensive but understand that you are on a very remote island so it makes sense. The hotel had its own beach on the opposite side of the island (Atlantic side) which was nice for walks and pictures although very windy. The hotel provides golf carts for transport to the beach. Really the only thing lacking from the hotel is a spa. All in all great trip and a good find.

My vacation experience was demolished when i standed in a villa that was next to what appeared to be some sort of associate next door that used his living quarters as a drug house , smoking marijauna from veranda with the aroma flooding the air of surrounding villas. Not to mention the loud (bob marley) music disturbing my family and I. Our entire stay became more a security concern as random vehicular traffic ,not golf carts where trafficing right before our door at late evening which gave suspicsions of a drug store next door. I suggest drug testing /screening for your staff population ,as other members i identified from gift shop making regular visits to that villas. I was so displeasured i only avoided making a callto the cops fearing to become entangled with cops not knowing if it would have interrupted our stay in the Bahamas. DELIINQIENCIES NEED TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY! 1648 no french fries available for my kid because of a broken fryer that was out of service for weeks. Staff is very friendly and upon conservation you can grasp loads of information. The person tnhat managed the 1648 would come into the dinning area unfittly dressed. The level of professionalism has plumetted drastically. I COULD NOT RECOMMEND A STAY HERE GIVEN THE OWN ! This experience was nothing else like my perivous visit 2 years ago. This time ago i felt as if i had mistaken my destination.

This is my last full day at the French Leave and I feel compelled to share a few thoughts on this incredible Eleuthera gem. The resort, located on the central part of the island, Governors Harbor, is remote, quiet and artistically arrange between a setting of pastel dotted buildings located on the historical site of Cupid’s Cay and shimmering diamonds that glisten off the many shades of blue water that almost appear to be dancing above the crystal clear water of the bay. The resort itself has 21 distinct villas that are luxurious by any measure and a world class staff that is among the friendliest and most professional I’ve ever met throughout my many years travel. The entire staff will go out there way to accommodate and make certain your experience is a memory for a lifetime. Photos do not provide justice to the beauty and serenity that exist here. One should experience all of Eleuthera first hand, and particularly Governor’s Harbor. The area has a few restaurants, from the hotel’s own 1694, to Tippy’s, Buccaneers and Sunset Grill - wherever you might wonder off to, you cannot go wrong. My wife and I rented a Jeep from N Eleuthera airport and I’m glad we need as it provided and encouraged us to explore several of the “must visit” sites located on the island. Having spent 20 years visiting the many islands of the Bahamas, I thought I had my favorite, yet this trip changed my mind. Come visit Eleuthera, get away from the hustle bustle of everyday life, and if PRIVACY and SERENITY is what you are looking for, then BOOM, you’ll find it. The is not Harbor Island nor Spanish Wells, it’s a small piece of Heaven. I want to thank the entire staff, particularly Nigel for created a snapshot in time that will remain forever. I have found and discovered a new destination and along the way, new friends. JUST GO and enjoy. Do nothing or do it all. The French Leave is the perfect destination
