Villa Allamanda is beautifully designed, immaculately maintained, and perfectly situated on a hill, a few short miles outside Governor’s Harbour, providing a peaceful, relaxing environment and spectacular views in every direction. My husband and I stayed in a queen studio bedroom on the third floor, with access to a wrap around porch, where we enjoyed quiet moments surrounded by the beauty of the property and the hospitality of the owner, John McCardy, who I cannot say enough good things about.John personally picked us up at the airport, and returned us when our stay was over. We rented a car from him, in excellent condition, and he provided a wealth of information about how to safely navigate around the island, which was incredibly useful. John is a lifelong resident on Eleuthera Island and his knowledge, and wisdom, about Governor’s Harbour and the entire island was not only extremely interesting but helped in our decision making on places to go (and to avoid) and things to do in the three short days we’re had on the island. He even researched for us the best location to get the Covid test required for our return trip to the US, for which I am personally grateful. Our stay at Villa Allamanda provided the perfect balance of relaxation on the property and exploration of the Island. We will definitely return.

Villa Allamanda is a lovely property that does everything right. It’s located on a Bahamian family island where it’s exceptionally hard to keep up high standards on the best day. Having run a neighboring inn for 15 years, I’m in a unique position now to be able to stay at this property as a guest but see it from an owners perspective, as well.

The rooms themselves are spotless and have every amenity that anyone would want but it’s the little extra details that really make this place a jewel. The rooms are thoughtfully designed and have spaces for your things including a large closet that has enough space and enough hangers. The bathroom has all of the basics but has some built in cubbies which is so convenient when traveling. There’s a little kitchenette area that’s so nice to have and there’s a readily accessible usb charging station on both bedside tables. A nice flat screen smart tv and working internet complete the picture.

Most importantly for this part of the world, the AC works perfectly and is very obviously maintained because it actually cool the room, doesn’t leak and is quiet. We’ve been having many power outages on the island this year and last night when I returned from a late meeting, I was fully expecting to come home to a completely dark and sweltering room, because that’s what I’ve had for the past few weeks, in other places. I was pleased to see some lights on, immediately thought they were solar, but then heard the distinctive low hum of a generator and I almost jumped for joy with relief.

It’s not easy maintaining a generator here and they’re very expensive to run but that right there said it all, to me. Here is an owner who has gone the extra mile in every way to ensure a great stay for his guests. People who are not familiar with the challenges of out island life wouldn’t know how hard it is to keep a place spotless and well maintained this close to the ocean, but it’s not easy. The working AC and the generator would’ve been enough for me but all of other thoughtful details really warmed my heart. I have enormous respect and admiration for the work that it takes to keep this beautiful place in such a high standard for guest ease and comfort. Well done, John and team! I can’t wait to return!

This hotel is absolutely amazing. The views from the room are spectacular, overlooking the water from your room. Also, the hotel is located not too far from the airport at Govenors Harbor, so the drive isn't bad at all. Additionally, the rooms come with the necessary supplies to cook, if you choose to, as well as they have the ability to connect to each other on one floor and separate into soundproof rooms; this is great for a larger family gathering, when we stayed we had 8 people or even just friends getting together that want their own space but also hangout with everyone. Too, this is great for business travel because people can work together in a communal space, while having their personal space as well. Lastly, the management team lives on sight and they are willing and able to assist with any of your needs with your stay as well as island information.

My Fiance and I spent Valentine's Weekend at Villa Allamanda and we simply had the best time ever. The view is gorgeous and the hospitality and service from the owners John and his wife is beyond stellar. They accommodate every request that was made and went above and beyond to provide suggestions and tips to assist us with our stay. The rooms are very clean, cozy and warm, you simply want to stay in for the entire day. Villa Allamanda is a true Eleuthera gem!

The location is great, not too far away from restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, etc. The host was very welcoming. He gave us a tour of the property and really made us feel right at home. The place was spotless. The room had all the essentials needed for our stay. The view is amazing and the surroundings are very quiet. Will definitely be back again!

We had never been to Eleuthera and almost picked the trip out of a hat, looking for something special. I'm in disbelief at our good luck in finding Villa Allamanda and owner John McCardy. The overwhelmingly good reviews helped us pick Villa Allamanda. John is the ultimate host, a designer and architect with incredible people skills and very good taste. The Villa is a magical little oasis, very stylish, centrally located, impeccably maintained, ocean views all around, with gorgeous beaches in every direction, including magical Twin Coves, which is an enjoyable walk or a quick couple of minutes drive away. We had to spend a fair amount of time working and needed dependable wifi/power. The Villa is built like a fine ship with back up systems to the back up systems. It's very impressive. John picked us up at the airport, rented us a car, and made the whole introduction to Eleuthera seamless. Villa Allamanda is a great base for big adventure and relaxation. Thanks very much, John. Your fine reputation is very well deserved.

We had a fabulous stay at Villa Allamanda and are already trying to plan a return visit! John was a gracious host with excellent communication. We were able to rent a car directly from the hotel which included airport transportation. The Villa was spotless with beautiful landscaping and fantastic views. Nice amenities including beach chairs and an umbrella for excursions. Definitely needed a 4 wheel drive car to get to the remote beaches but they were pristine and worth it! Local restaurants were very nice, we ate at the the Buccaneer Club and at 1648 on suggestions from John and had wonderful meals. The local gas station/market was great for picking up essentials as long as you get there early in the day...everything shuts down by late afternoon. Snorkeling was great at the Twin Cove beach. A very friendly island and a wonderful experience overall.

My husband and I and our 2x teenage children loved our stay at Villa Allamanda. John the owner/host picked us up from the airport and introduced us to Governors Island and all it has to offer. John went above and beyond to make our stay a truly special experience. He even organized for specific weights for my son to use during our stay so he wouldn’t miss out in his weight training. The rooms are well appointed especially the top floor Villa which is spacious and has ocean views from all vantage points. We loved our stay here with the stunning beaches we had access to everyday with the car we hired from the hotel. I cannot recommend Villa Allamanda highly enough if you want a quiet getaway from it all!

After two years of pandemic lockdowns, my partner and I were in dire need of a change in scenery, preferably someplace that wasn’t overrun with chain restaurants and tourists. Laid-back Eleuthera Island in the Bahamas checked all the right boxes, and Villa Allamanda hotel, centrally-located in Governor’s Harbour, was the perfect place to recharge our bodies and souls.

We spent a week at Villa Allamanda and had a great time! Our second-floor suite was clean, comfortable and decorated with a touch of Bahamian style. Owner John McCardy was always ready to answer our questions and share his insider knowledge about local restaurants, beaches and the island’s unique natural wonders. We rented an SUV from the hotel’s vehicle fleet, a good call given the unpaved roads that we sometimes encountered on our excursions.

We look forward to coming back to Eleuthera and Villa Allamanda. Highly recommend both!

My stay here was amazing. I really enjoyed my time here and wish I could go back. The view was amazing and the friendliness was nice as well. All of the rooms had doors so it was private but at the same time they were connected so it gave a very nice family vibe.

Hello, I hope this helps, from Villa Allamanda, which is almost in the center of the island, you will travel north. You will travel between 45 minutes to an hour based on how fast you drive. Once you get to Dunmore Town you will have to take a 'ferry' to Habour Island from about $5 and up depending on what size boat you take and the season that you go.

How far is this property from the "Fish Fry"?
Eleuthera
We have no pool at this stage of our development and to get to the top 3rd floor, you will have to walk up 22 steps. we have beaches on both sides of the island and one day the water on the Atlantic side could be a bit rough and other side of the island could be very calm, or vice versa.
