Stayed for 3 nights in room 7, a completely private bungalow with superb views from its deck over the sea. It had open windows on 3 sides---no glass, just insect netting-- so you really felt part of nature. This did however mean waking up every morning at 5 with the sun streaming in, and the howler monkeys calling. Not really...

For the very good, see the pictures shown on the Lapa Rios website, which are all fairly accurate but don't tell the whole story. It is set in a rain forest and you are very close to nature. We saw monkeys, birds, frogs (including the iconic green frog with red eyes) snakes, spiders, lizards, iguanas and a sloth. The staff...

Owned by visionaries, operated by a leader in Costa Rican responsible travel, and staffed by some of the most personable and professional people one is likely to meet, I cannot imagine a more authentic sustainable place within one of the most biodiverse destinations of the world. This is the future of tourism and travel.

We have just spent an amazing two weeks in Costa Rica and thoroughly enjoyed every day of our trip but our stay at Lapa Rios was the icing on the cake. It is very laid back, the food is great, the rooms offer everything you could need, all the staff are genuine and ever so helpful and the on-site guides...

we were renting casa Bambu during Christmas week, and decided to celebrate Christmas with a lunch at Lapa Rios lodge. It is about a 15mn walk, up the hill from casa bambu, and when you arrive at the lodge, you are at the same level as the top of the trees, in the middle of the rainforest, with monkeys and...

This hotel is amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our airline didn't inform us that flights had been cancelled to get to Lapa Rios. The hotel emailed us the night before to let us know and to help arrange flights to a different airport and transfers. The food is all included and they had a great selection. We never...

Dear Gale, thank you for taking the time to review our lodge. While we were very happy to hear that you loved your "room with the view", the food (yes, the fish tacos are great) and the service provided by our staff, we loved your comments about the wildlife. There is probably no better place in Costa Rica to see...

I will start with that I was actually a little teary when we had to leave this place. The viewing of wild life here is amazing. Showering with macaws screaming above you and toucans eating their breakfast was an experience I will never forget. Yes, the menu is limited, but they always offer specials and everything we ate was delicious....

People raved about this place, and I wish our group could rave as well, But we just can't. Many things are great here. The rooms have beautiful views and are well-decorated, cleaned every day, have turn-down service. The restaurant staff is very friendly and attentive. The hotel's efforts for eco-tourism and sustainability are really quite amazing. We did the Pigs/twigs...

Dear Thyme8, greetings from the Osa Peninsula. The rains have ceased and things are finally drying up now. We would like to sincerely thank you for this great review. Of course, we would prefer Five Star ratings all the time, but we know that we still have things that we need to work on and improve. We strive to exceed...

I absolutely love this corner of the world. Staying at Lapa Rios has been life changing! Flying with Nature Air from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez and having amazing views from above including seeing the active Turrialba volcano spew ashes, and then landing on the tiny air strip in Puerto Jimenez, along side the cemetery is a story and adventure...
