It's a little hard to believe that "luxury" and "eco-tourism" can be combined, but Lapa Rios does a good job. People who swear by the "Four Seasons" may not enjoy being told to take their old toothpaste tubes home with them, but my relatives in Olympia, Washington (... not quite as remote as the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica) tell me...

Having tried several places over the years in the Osa region, I feel confident in saying this hotel ranks no. 1 in comfort, service and restaurant. I tried a few of the trails with the guides, who are knowledgeable and professional, where we saw all 4 species of Costa Rican monkeys and a multitude of scarlet macaws, toucans and other...

Dear remopigl, greetings from Lapa Rios and the Golfo Dulce side of the Osa Peninsula. What a great review. We love how you used the word eco luxury to describe your experience as this is what we are striving to do at our eco lodge. Thank you for the great thumbs up on the food and service and we are...

We brought our 9 year old twins to Lapa Rios for 5 nights/6 days and it was the most amazing adventure we have ever been on! The age of our kids was perfect. I wouldn't take kids that are much younger than 8. This is an active trip that you want them to be able to participate in! They were...

Wow! Where do I start? This was the start a honeymoon adventure for Jeff and me and it was an incredible experience! I have to say that Lapa Rios met and exceeded my expectations as a romantic getaway of which I never dreamed. You are not at a resort... you are part of a jungle environment where you see animals...

Given our tight travel schedule, we were only able to spend a couple nights at Lapa Rios. I would have preferred staying another day as it is an amazing place and one full day does not do it justice. It is beautifully located on a ridge above the ocean and the lodge was built to maximize viewpoints. The rooms are...

Have just returned from a fortnight in Costa Rica. This hotel was undoubtedly the highlight of my family trip. The setting on a hillside, amidst tropical rainforest, with monkeys and birds coming down to the verandah of each chalet, is stunning. You soon get quite fit walking up to the restaurant, but on the way you see a lot of...

Absolutely first rate. We agree with all the other positive reviews of this unique place. You do need to be reasonably fit however in order to negotiate the many steps from the rooms to the restaurant (particularly if your room number is #5 +) and to take advantage of the many rain forest activities on offer. The staff our without...

One Day at Lapa Rios. Wake up to the howler monkeys outside. Watch the sunrise over the ocean. Drink coffee delivered to your room. Stop to see the toucans feeding in the tree as you go to breakfast. Have an amazing, made to order breakfast. Go to your room and put on your hiking boots. Go for a guided hike....or...

Dear TravelsAlot, Wow. What a review, or better, what a great poem. A Big Thank You and hug from all of us at Lapa Rios Eco Lodge for this wonderful review. You said it all and so well. The only thing we can wish for is that you come back to the Osa Peninsula soon. Muchas gracias.

This is one of the most amazing places we have ever been to. It is all about being immersed in nature - with animals and spectacular birds right outside your room, with accommodation that makes you feel at one with nature, with excellent food and great guides...unbeatable.

This was an expensive trip for my husband and me. But well worth it. A spiritual renewal. Everything is pretty much perfect about this place. But -- this is an eco-lodge and not all the amenities you might be used to are present. No A/C, for example (would have destroyed the ambiance, for sure). But this is all about the...
