Bosque del Cabo is a romantic getaway and a naturalist’s dream, come true. Crowning a point 500 feet above where the Golfo Dulce meets the Pacific Ocean, nestled in the unspoiled jungles of Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula is a paradise found. Located in a unique and fortunate position at the very tip of the Osa Peninsula in the southern Pacific region of Costa Rica, this 750+ acre forest reserve features private, spacious bungalows and gorgeous houses perched atop the cliffs of Cabo Matapalo, each with beautiful ocean views, tropical breezes and the rainforest at your doorstep; or choose beautiful and rustic garden view accommodations surrounded by thriving rainforests. Hiking trails lead you through the forest to deserted beaches on both the Golfo Dulce and Pacific Ocean. Bosque del Cabo, which opened its doors as a hotel in 1990, is owner operated and dedicated to forest preservation.

Everything, absolutely everything about this lodge is simply outstanding... Everything that everyone says about this place is absolutely true, its just paradise. Kim, Phil and the team at the Bosque Del Cabo do everything in their power to ensure you have the most memorable experience.

Staff such as Braulio and Heylin (Isabella) are an absolute asset to the lodge and made our 7 night stay at the Casa Coco so very memorable. I even proposed to my partner on the amazing suspension bridge on the property and was super surprised that Braulio took the time out to join us and film the special occasion with his phone. Off his own back, he then went and spent hours in his own time editing the video and made a really special short film of the occasion. Thankyou Braulio, you are truly a great man...

My partner and I traveled with a 9 month old baby and had no issues whatsoever with all the "worrying" things about travelling to such a location with a baby. No mosquitoes (Nov/Dec) and plenty of baby supplies at the BM Supermarket in Puerto Jimenez which was really only about a 30 minute drive away.

We absolutely loved our stay, thanks team Bosque! Bravo....

We spent three wonderful days at Bosque del Cabo. The grounds are magnificent and the accommodations very comfortable. We had a group of 4 and stayed in Casa Blanca, a small house complete with kitchen, living room, and a fabulous deck with sunny and shaded areas and a view of the ocean. It was perfect! The food and service were also exceptional. We were with a small group and had our own planned activities, but it looked like resort also had a wide variety of interesting activities available.

We had been to Bosque 3 times, every summer! Off course we love it. We been to Costa Rica several times but after going to Bosque, we never go any other place. This place is a peace of haven. The property is beautiful with so many species of plants and animals to see without having to look for them. During meals you get to see Macaws, Toucans, Coatis and other birds and other animals I can't name it. Althoght it is a huge property it is very private and peaceful. It is a great place to be on a honeymoon or with family. You never feel over crowded. The staff is amazing friendly and call you by your first name plus meal time is wonderful. Never ate a bad meal there. We actually look forward to our meals even when we are not hungry. It is a very special place for us

Bosque del Cabo, a rainforest lodge, is a multi-decade labor of love by the owners, Phil and Kim, and it shows in their attention to detail (from architecture, to plantings, to addressing your special needs, arranging fun expeditions, and much much more.) Their commitment not only to excellent hospitality but also environmental preservation, and education made my first adventure into the rainforest both exciting and pampered. YES! Off the grid with hotel sheets! It’s chic but at the same time rugged, it's accessible and yet remote. I loved the warm, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere the owners create. They and their staff greet you, know your name and make their home your home.

Within an hour of my arrival I was having a massage on the outdoor wrap around porch of my bungalow, facing the ocean, hearing the scarlet macaws overhead and watching the spider monkeys swing from limb to limb carrying their babies. I had entered a different world and I didn’t want to leave.

The web-site is very informative so take a look. The photographs are true but in the context of the grounds, much more attractive in person. Upon arriving at the main lodge, you can see a wide expanse of open area, beautifully planted paths, and thatched roofed bungalows with the ocean as the backdrop. Within a few steps is the rainforest with multiple trails.

My bungalow was charming, comfortable and spotlessly clean. It became my private, quiet retreat. The architecture, not seen in the photos, included an outdoor shower and beautiful mosaic tile bathtub both landscaped with flowering plants. What a treat! The room and loft had very comfortable beds with luxurious hotel quality linens. Additional details included a large container of filtered spring water (from the property), mini fans next to the bed, pillows at just the right height on the porch rocking chairs overlooking the ocean, a hammock on the porch and mosquito netting on the beds. The last was probably not necessary (but made me feel protected) since the ocean breeze kept me comfortable and mosquito free.

The kind hearted staff addressed and even anticipated my needs. I have several food intolerances. I also do not like to call attention to my condition. The staff did an incredible job: from the owner, Phil, to the Chef, to the wait staff of discreetly serving me a variety of delicious meals. I appreciated their effort even more when one night we went out to eat at another nearby hotel and it was clear that even though the people were eager to please, they were just not prepared to address my issues.

My daughter and two grandsons, ages 9 and 7 invited me to join them on this trip. This was their third year. I arrived two days early. I learned that Bosque del Cabo is a perfect place to stay while traveling alone, as well as with family or friends. The other guests were sociable, interesting and respectful. Some were repeat guests of many years.

We hiked, took a boat trip to see dolphins and whales (a mother with her calf), swam in the ocean and pool, took surfing lessons, and rode horses.

In addition, Kim, arranged for us to see new-born baby turtles make their trip to the ocean. A short hike through the rainforest led us to miles of untouched beach.
She also organized a hike down a cliff to the ocean at low tide. Again, we played in more miles of a different deserted beach, climbed giant boulders, sat in tidal pools and hiked into a gorge and stood under a serious waterfall!

While we were there, the owners joined the guests for dinner. That gave anyone who was interested an opportunity to find out how the dream of a lodge in the rainforest became a reality. The owners also support the local environmental organizations and continue to preserve more property as funds and land become available. Their biologist/geologist guide (of almost 20 years) was a fountain of knowledge and explained that once a segment of the rainforest deteriorates beyond a certain point, it does not come back unlike endangered species when protections are put into place. That comment really opened my eyes.

If you want to experience the rainforest where it meets the ocean, Costa Rica is a lovely country and Bosque del Cabo is a hideway that should not be missed. I will return!

I have been fortunate enough to travel to a lot of places in my life. However, I believe that Bosque del Cabo Rainforest Lodge is one of the most special and unique places I have ever been. Many people have talked the talk of environmental protection but very few have walked the walk. Kim and Phil have clearly walked the walk. There are many things that I love about their lodge. I believe that my favorite were the hollering monkeys. They say what is on their minds and my wife does a great imitation of them. I enjoyed seeing all the animals, not in cages but in their natural habitat. The food was wonderful. The conversations at the dinner table with people from other countries were great. The views were magnificent. They even had a massage therapist who had her office in the forest and who claimed mystic powers. I recommend Bosque del Cabo Rainforest Lodge wholeheartedly!!
