Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI

Hyatt Place Manati has garnered mixed reviews from guests; while its central location and range of on-site amenities, including a pool and bar, are frequently commended, there's a feeling that the value proposition falls short, with some guests feeling the pinch of high costs and billing complications. Cleanliness is generally praised, yet mentions of housekeeping mishaps and maintenance woes crop up occasionally. Rooms are often described as comfortable and tidy, though noise complaints and irregularities in maintenance have been noted. Service experiences also vary, with the staff's helpfulness being overshadowed at times by instances of poor communication and neglect.

Just wow, being raised in the local area as a kid, I never expected a Hotel of this caliber to built in the town of Manati, PR. Talk about impressed, from the moment you walk in the staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. The location was centralized near the highway, stores, beaches and eating locations, The grandkids loved the numerous roosters and chickens rooming the hotel grounds. The room was comfortable and as the surrounding areas had water and electrical disruptions the Hyatt maintained all of its basic functions operational. I usually stay with relatives on my vacations to Manati, PR but that might had just ended.

From beginning to end our time here was great. The property is very well maintained, the room was very clean no issues with noise or anything negative. Breakfast is very good and a decent variety is offered daily. The staff is very polite and attentive. The pool area is small but nice, the water is very well kept. If you’re looking to spend sometime gambling the Casino is a short walk across the parking lot. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking to stay in this area of Puerto Rico.

We stayed at the Hyatt in Manati as it was the closed chain hotel to north central area of the island we were visiting. Easy to get to, staff was very friendly and always willing to help answer any question you may have. Would stay again in a future trip.

Housekeeping was lacking with focus towards only tidying rather than cleaning. For example, the floor would not be sweeped/vaccuumed, towels were not changed, and bathtub was visibly not washed (sand still visible) over an extended stay. The hotel core is old, but renovated. Shower faucet was falling apart with no desire to fix. Breakfast is reasonable with toast, oatmeal, usually meat, tortilla, a big bowl of yogurt and fruits.

Location is interesting with it being 40-60 min away from Sam Juan depending on traffic. We didn’t mind it being away from core, as we enjoyed a closer drive to the central, south and west parts of the island. It also encouraged us to eat where the locals eat. This is definitely off the beaten path hotel for tourists. Some great food trucks up the street near Walgreens, but other than that there’s isn’t a whole lot of choices for places to eat in the area (besides fast food). We had a good time in Puerto Rico, but the hotel experience could be improved.

Though booking a stay at a chain hotel was done reluctantly, our itinerary necessitated a stop in Manati and the Hyatt seemed the least worst option. Unfortunately, the experience fell below even our lowest expectations.

Above all else, the desk staff were shockingly unprofessional: the evening staff member couldn't be bothered to greet us and was dressed like he was about to go off to a local bar; his morning colleague was brusque and uncaring.

The room was spacious and clean but the air con was of the old-fashioned duct type which was extremely noisy. The shower dribbled rather than sprayed and the hot water was barely tepid (I mentioned this at check-out but it didn't merit an apology, only an entry in the log book that read 'shower check'). I also didn't like the fact that the quilt was not encapsulated within a cover, rather separated from the occupant of the bed only by a thin sheet. My assumption is that quilts are not cleaned between guests so I consider this a significant hygiene fail.

As we departed, we saw that breakfast was on offer. During the booking process, this was not clear and so we had made other plans. No mention had been made of this option at check-in, reinforcing our view that this franchise of the Hyatt brand really doesn't give a damn about its guests.

Had pay for a room with 2beds /sofa ,after checking in discover our room had the carpet wet and a strong citrus smell from the cleaning detergent. After reporting to front desk were move to a room with 1king bed /sofa and informed the next date will be getting the room that we had reserved. Frustrating that after 3 dates received the room and air conditioning was not working.Traveling with 2 kids and one in a wheelchair and had advice the hotel we needed the appropriate room for his comfort and needs. Also when ask the housekeeping person to give us 1 extra towel and ectra for the floor since had the seat in shower was told the hotel only gives 3 towel per room and needed to get an approval.Hyatt personnel never show any concern ask to be move to another Hyatt and claim couldn't do that. They had supervisors but they couldn't make any decisions. When ask for compensation was told they can only give us chocolates and if we need to compliant to contact corporate department. Supposedly the front desk agent was going to email the hotel manager after the 2night stay there 6 days total and was never approach or call by the manager.

I woke up to my room not having water service. I went to the reception to notify them, they said that within 1 hour it would be fixed. I waited the hour and still no water service in the room. I went again to the lobby to let them know, they said it would be fixed "very soon", but it wasn't. I had errands and business to conduct that day, that I had to go to. I was not able to shower, even worst I had to use the toilet (several times) and was not able to flush it down. I left the hotel to do errands, came back several hours later and still no water service. I told the clerk at the lobby to please notify the supervisor of the situation and for them to not charge me that day because the room was not usable without water. The clerk said he would leave a note on the record. At checkout, when I asked the representative at the lobby, I learned that the previous clerk did not leave the note on the record as promised. I asked the representative at checkout for a second time now to please notify the supervisor of the water situation in my room and to request that the day without water service not to be charged in my bill. The rep said he would talk to the supervisor but still charged me the full amount for the stay. I have not heard back from anybody from Hyatt about what happened or about and adjustment to my bill. I am very disappointment with the whole situation, the least they can do is acknowledge it, take responsibility and adjust my bill.

I use stairs whenever possible and found it impossible to do this at the Hyatt House Maniti.
This is not just an inconvenience but is a serious safety hazard.
We were unable to open the door to go downstairs from the third floor. This was reported to the front desk several times over two days. Maintenance had a look at it and said one just has to push harder. My husband who does all our “bubba brute force jobs” could not open the door.
Picture yourself crawling down a smoke filled hallway coughing and hacking and needing to “just push harder”.
Ground level access to the stairwell that fire rescue would use was locked with a key they kept at the front desk. Let’s hope desk staff remember to open that door as they flee a smoke filled lobby.
There was no hard sanitizer at either end of the buffet. Have you ever seen someone leave the public bathroom without washing?

The managment at this staff are the worst that I have EVER encountered. I was given the wrong room and lied to about it. When I asked for the correct room or a partial refund I was given nothing but attitude. About an hour later I was called to say someone canceled and I could now have the right room. Meaning the room was available when I checked in. The managment was so rude that they hung up on Hyatt corporate when they called attempting to help me out.
