The Meran Hotel was our base for a 4 days stay in Prague last April.
Although not of extremly high standards the hotel is very acceptable, there are only 20 rooms or so but the place is charming and the facade is beautiful, our room was spacious and clean and staff were very helpful.
In a place like Prague you'd have to be crazy to spend much time in your hotel room anyway !
The Hotel is ideally located, and all the main interests are within short walking distance.
I would recommend this Hotel to anyone who wants to enjoy Prague to the most and still have plenty of money to spend in Gifts !

This is a great budget option if you want to stay in the centre of Prague. I've stayed twice now and I'd certainly go back again. It is basic but spotless and the breakfast is excellent - and served up until 11am which is most civilized. Most of the staff speak English and are helpful and friendly. There is a lift. We have had a superb view over Wenceslas Square both times we've visited. It is noisy at the front of the hotel so earplugs are advisable. For those who are into architecture here is a chance to stay in a historic living breathing art nouveau building which has literally been through the wars and come out triumphant the other end - the hotel was appropriated first by the nazis then by the communists and now it is rightfully back in the hands of the original family. Next door is the Grand Hotel Europa where more art nouveau awaits you - the staff there are still communist-era surly but it's worth calling in for coffee to appreciate the stunning interior. Across the road is the wonderful art deco Lucerna Palace arcade - a must (if you don't mind smoke-filled rooms) is to go into the wonderful cafe in the cinema there and watch the world go by for an hour or two. And, while in Prague it is recommended you hang out and do a bit of people-watching in the ever-bustling Kaverna Slavia opposite Narodni Divaldo - excellent gnocchi and the pancakes are superb. The Hotel Meran is a centrally located and highly recommended for visitors to Prague.

Located right in the middle of Wenceslas Square and a perfect base for your trip to Prague, a lot of the attractions are within walking distance of the hotel. The tram stop is very close by and there are numerous sightseeing tours from the square. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable but the bathrooms are a bit dated. The breakfast room was well spaced out with a good variety and the food was constantly being replenished. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful with a ready smile and helpful suggestions except for one who only ever seemed to scowl and glare at everyone. Overall it is a great value no frills hotel in a perfect location.

We had a very nice stay in this hotel. The staff was extremely nice and willing to help. For example, they brought us an english newspaper during the breakfast and packed a lunch box when realized that we have an early morning flight back home, even though we did not ask them to do it! Rooms are spotless and spacious and the view of Wenceslas Square from the room is terrific! Great place to stay in Prague.

Myself, husband and adult daughter stayed here for 3 nights. The room was great overlooking Wenceslas Square with a small balcony, great for taking photos. The room was large including a table and chairs and mini fridge. The breakfast was ok but monotonous. We would book this hotel again for it's great location.

Picked this hotel due to locality and price. It certainly is in a good location very close to Wenceslas Square. It is an exceptionally clean, traditional hotel. We found the staff attentive and eager to please. Rooms were cleaned every day and towels were also changed daily.

Breakfast was very good with a good selection to cater for most tastes and dietary requirements.

The bedroom itself was ample sized with everything required. There was a plentiful supply of toiletries in the bathroom but the shower over the bath was a bit odd. It was only waist height therefore you had to hold it up when washing hair and upper part of body.

Apart from this minor gripe the hotel was ideal for our long weekend in Prague.

The hotel is a 15 minute walk away from the main train station if you choose to explore further afield. We took the train to Kutna Hora to visit the Bone Chapel (Sedlec Ossuary) which is worth visiting.

Should you decide to use the trains, give yourself plenty of time to navigate the station as it is huge.

When visiting this hotel we immediately realised we were in a brilliant location and a few minutes walk from the old town. Our room was clean and tidy, although a bit dated, which didn't bother us. However, when coming through reception some of the staff were very rude and ignorant. The older lady who was there most times, had no time to answer questions and sat there constantly watching TV. She was that bad, me and my girlfriend would joke between ourselves before walking past if she would reply to us when we said hello/good morning (she usually just looked at us). She also wasn't very happy when we told her the night before leaving we needed to check out early, saying 'I may not be here', despite her telling us on check-in that someone is on reception 24/7. The breakfast was average at best, but was okay for a day or two. If you want a cheaper hotel in a good Prague location this could be the one, but make sure you have a good sense of humour to cope with some of the miserable people working there.

We went to Europe for a month recently. Visited lots of cities, many of which with considerable Art Nouveau roots. By far, Prague was our favorite Art Nouveau city. This hotel is right on Wenceslas Square, and has great Art Nouveau architecture. Even if you don't stay here, you should stop by to see the beautifully restored Art Nouveau facade and hotel features.

Also, I would recommend downloading Rick Steves free app with a free audio tour of Prague. His tour starts in Wenceslas Square.

Hotel Meran is in a perfect location, on the centre of Wenceslas square and only a small walk to the older part of town. On entering the hotel was greeted by the friendly hotel receptionist who was happy to help us with any questions we had and we even had an upgrade to a big room with a balcony. Rooms were a little tired but they go with the character of the hotel and was fine for a 3 star. Only thing that I would suggest is that the hotel put safes in the rooms. Overall great location, good value and friendly staff.

Hotel Meran is localed right in front of the Wencelas Square, which is a great thing to start with. The hotel is nice... I do know it is a very old building so I do give them the benefit of the doubt to a certain extend. Having said that, I think the bathroom needs an update. The room I thought it was nice enough, no frills, but the bathroom seems very old.
The staff was just ok, except an older woman, who was extremely sweet and helpful and made sure we had breakfast before we travel back home, even when the cab driver came to pick us up. She told him to wait and not charge us anything extra, until we finished eating :)
For that, and the fact that they gave us a big room with a balcony when we mentioned it was our honeymoon, is that I give them a very good, as opposed to an average score.
