Just had a 4 night stay at this lovely little hotel. We where greeted on arrival at airport which we had pre booked and taken straight to the hotel. When we got to the hotel we where shown to our room, and what a room it was, spacious and comfortable with a lovely view overlooking petrin tower. The room was well equipped with a reasonably priced mini bar and towels and toiletries replenished frequently.
Breakfast was somewhat limited but they doing the best they can under these circumstances. All the staff where really friendly and helpful.
It is conveniently located for Prague castle and monastery and transport, within a few minutes walk there is some lovely bars and restaurants.

This is the first place which I stayed at in my life, where the staff when leading you to your room and carrying your luggage walks... downstairs! That was so surprising and unique experience which truly excited me!
The hotel is located in a historical building U Lampy, which is almost 400 years old. Apartments facing Loretanska street are private places, and hotel rooms face South, Petrin hill and Uvoz street. Therefore it is very quite place where nobody can disturb you.
Hotel has only 8 rooms which are situated on two levels. We stayed on a lower level, closest to the Uvoz street, in a historical room with a high barrel ceiling. Room was smaller than it appeared on photos, but still fairly spacious and comfortable.
Staff is very welcoming and friendly. We were able to get answers to all our, sometimes tricky, questions and requests. (Yes, hot water is hot indeed and IS always available; you just have to wait for a few seconds for it to come for it's an old building and water apparently gets cold in winter time inside tubes.)
Breakfast is good, but not as varied as 4* hotels usually have.
For staying a New year night at their hotel all the guests were presented by gratuitous bottle of Bohemian champagne, which was really cute.
The hotel's terraces are pretty romantic with a small table available for guests on each terrace. It was nice sitting there for a while in cold winter weather and I believe it may be even nicer experience in a summer time (just don't forget to bring some champagne with you.)

We stayed there for 3 nights. It's a very cosy hotel in a historical building, placed in the castle neighborhood. The staff was absolutely lovely and always looking to help us with anything we needed. The rooms were old (historical building), but very clean, the decoration respected the style of the building and it was very cosy.
Breakfast was good.
It is placed very near the castle and at least during our stay at night it got very quiet, which is good but restaurants near the hotel usually close early (10 pm). If you usually have dinner rather late, think you will probably have to go to the other part of the city to find open places after 21/21:30.
I recommend it and would stay there again.

I keep coming back here because the staff is really good and the rooms are nice with large bathrooms and comfortable amenities. The breakfast in the morning offers good choices and a great way to start your day.

I also use the airport to hotel car service. The driver is friendly and professional. He knows all the best ways and is a really good driver.

The location is just up hill from the castle and has a number of sites close by. I also enjoy the walk down the the Charles Bridge.

The area is quiet and sleeping is good at night.

Overall, I keep coming back here and it helps me enjoy my visits to Prague.

Dear Paul Luehrmann, thank you very much for your lovely review. We love to hear, that you always come back to us and you enjoy our cosy spaces. We upgrade our wide range of breakfast with new local home made pastry and we must say, that is incredibly tasty. Our hotel driver Milan works for the hotel over 15 years and he is really skilled and can give good tips and initial information. Milan is pleased with your reference and sends greetings! As you mentioned, we are located on very special spot, where you can hear only birds and bells from a nearby church. We are wishing you good day and we are looking forward to seeing you again. An unusual property which some would describe as "boutique" and others"bijou". A warm welcome, a large comfortable room and a reasonable breakfast - and all this at a reasonable price and a five minute walk from St. Vitus Cathedral in the uphill, castle area of the city. What more could one want?

The Domus Henrici is absolutely delightful. Built in the 1300's, the villa has been remodelled as a very private inn. (Read the interesting history on their site.) We stayed in a suite, which was as big as an apartment, with hardwood floors, huge bath, living room, fluffy duvets, terry-cloth robes, cable tv, phone, hairdryer, minibar, and a generous breakfast included. You can check your email at the desk. The room was very private, we almost never saw other guests. Nothing could be better than coffee on the large terraces overlooking the city. (The weather was too cold when we were there...we ate in the quiet dining room at the front of the hotel!) The staff is gracious and welcoming...always around to help, but never intrusive.

The location is better than you might think when you look at the map. You soon realize that you would never want to stay anywhere in Prague but Hradcanny. Expensive hotels across the bridge, near the clock and city centre, are close to tourist shops, crowded restaurants and MOBS of tourists, even in November. We were so happy to come home to our charming hotel right up the cobble stones from the castle and near Loreta Monastery. Eat at Tosca across the street (YUM!) or some of the other little restaurants close by. We never had a bad meal in this area. Explore the tiny pubs tucked away down narrow steps. Look for the one right up from the hotel. It has amazing views of Petrin Hill and the city. Pop into the local artist shops on the way up to the tram. Or, just walk down to the city, passing antique shops and galleries. The views are astounding. (The walk back is quite vigorous...steep and hundreds of steps! A great workout if you want it, but the tram is much easier on the way home.)

The tram (we usually took the #22 and #23) stops every few minutes right up the hill, only a few blocks from your front door, (right across the street from the Hotel Savoy.) Hop on board, and in just a few minutes, you easily join the crowds down below for the day. The tram usually runs until midnight. The hotel will arrange a safe cab, but this is really only necessary for the airport.

Bring comfortable shoes (spikes don't go well with cobblestones) and enjoy this city dripping in culture. Almost everyone speaks English, and menus are written in many languages. People are helpful and kind. Concerts and operas are everywhere, every night. Take in at least one...tickets are easy to get. Architecture, as far as you can see, from the Middle Ages to present, is overwhelming. Don't miss the Strahov Monastery and Library (AMAZING!) as you walk up Petrin Hill. Consider going outside the city. We took an hour long train ride along the river to one of the other castles in a nearby village, Karlstejn. This day was spectacular in November...not crowded, beautiful countryside. The walk up to the castle alone was worth the trip. We stayed a week and fell in love with PRAHA!!! Enjoy your visit!

We have stayed at the Domus Henrici in Prague three different times, twice on three-day visits and one Christmas for a week. It is a small hotel located between the Loreto and the Castle. There are eight or ten rooms ranging in price from the equivalent of 95 euro to about 200 euros per night. The prices differ according to the size of room and the season. A huge breakfast buffet is included in the price of the room. All the rooms are tastefully decorated; the larger rooms have huge bathrooms with a large tub. Smaller rooms have only a shower. As the name on their web page implies (------------------), the Domus Henrici is hardly noticed from the street, but once inside the visitor discovers an inviting home-away-from-home in Prague that is a quiet refuge. The walk down to Mala Strana is easy, and Tram 22 will drop you off only a few minutes away on your trip back. In addition, for other transportation needs, the owner's husband is an HONEST taxi driver who can arrange pick-ups, drop-offs, and visits to places near and far. To see more from our trips to Prague, go to ---------------------- Choose "Europe to the East" from 1998 or "Prague Christmas." E-mail warobison at aol.com for any specific questions.

The Domus Henrici is a shining example of what true hospitality is all about.

The absolute highlight of my trip to Europe this year was my stay at the Domus Henrici in Prague. I cannot praise this hotel enough. The staff were a delight, and this 8 room boutique hotel was immaculate, with wonderful attention to detail, comfort and service. I felt completely at home in room # 6 - a DeLuxe Double room which offers the most stunning views of Prague. The location in Hradcany by Prague Castle was perfect and completely silent at night, with no street noise (a rarity in any large city). Breakfast was excellent, with an abundance of choice in hot & cold dishes in a relaxing, beautifully decorated parlour. The hotel staff recommended several local restaurants for evening dining and ALL offered delicous food at exceptional prices. In addition they could arrange everything from Opera Performances to tram tickets.

The hotel also offers an honest and reliable private taxi service for transfers, sightseeing and day trips. A special thanks to Milan, who was a pleasure to deal with.

The centre of Prague was a beautiful walk downhill through Hradcany & Mala Strana and we explored the city easily on foot. The easiest way to return to the hotel at night is to take the tram back up the hill, which stops only a couple of minutes walk back to the hotel.

Domus Henrici is divine, and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. I will most definitely be returning!!

I highly recommend this boutique hotel. Clean, quiet, and friendly staff. The hotel is big enough where you have room to yourself, and small enough that you don't feel like a stranger to the staff.

The hotel is close to the main historic sites and out way from the big noisy crowds. The catch is that it is located on top of the hill just beyond the Castle. I personal like the daily hike that crosses the Charles Bridge and up an old path to the hotel. Along the way you get a rewarding view of the Prague city. There is also an easy way out by taking the light rails that stop near the hotel.

The staff was extremely helpful during my stay. My baggage was delayed for numerous days and the staff helped me stay in contact with the airline. Because of their help I was able to enjoy my trip in an unfortunate circumstance.

I stayed last night in this hotel, rooms are small but comfortable (big bed, tv, bathrobe, bar, alcohols, kettle, small office)
Suitable for a short stay (no dressing to clothes hanger furniture).

The big pro:
- Very good WiFi
- a DVD player + surround system
- Martina (the woman that takes care of everything during the day)
- The beautiful terrasse
- The amazing vue (nature, trees, green &the mini Eiffel Tower of Prague :))

The cons:
- dressing (hangers)
- shower

Hi,could you name a few bars that are near to the hotel please.
Answer from Kati W
London23 contributions13 helpful votes
Hi - Not that many bars as such but here's tried and tested for food and drink up the street from Domus Henrici: U Cerneho Vola (Black Ox) Loretanske nam. 107/1 Old and atmospheric tavern frequented by locals, great beer, very reasonable prices, basic pub dishes to soak up beer. Not to be missed! U Zaveseneho Kafe Loretanske 179/13 A couple of doors up from Domus Henrici, fun place that does food, coffee, drinks. Wonderful semi-outdoor terrace with fabulous views. Food and service variable but great advantage of staying open late. Managed to eat here at 9pm to fit in with one of our parties' late arrival while other places up the street (U Sevce Matouse) were not serving past 8pm on a Friday night despite hours to the contrary on their website. AVOID or read menu/drinks prices very carefully: U Cisaru Down the street from Domus Henrici. Got ripped off here on arrival. Two toasted cheese sandwiches (on stale bread), small beer, one water: 30 euros. Not even in Paris! Highly recommended but further afield in Mala Strana: Vinoteca U Mourenine Trziste 17 Can't think of a better place to escape from crowds and have a break from beer: beautiful wine bar, friendly service. Great for a drink before going out.
