We spent two nights at this beautiful bed & breakfast. Our room was on the third floor with a little terrace. When you enter the room you walk into a small sitting room/bath room. It had a shower, sink and vanity. a small room with a toilet was attached. There was a door that lead to the bedroom with a...

Do yourself a favor, and whether you're in Prague for a day, a week, or more, stay at this charming bed and breakfast. Jan and his son Jakob truly make you feel like part of their family, and the rest of their staff is equally friendly and helpful. Each room is unique, quite spacious (especially for a European hotel), clean...

I recently spent 2 nights at House at the BIg Boot and was very pleased. The accommodations were delightful and the owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. We arranged for a transfer from the airport, and we received a small introductory tour on the way to the B&B. Upon arrival we received a warm welcome and very helpful...

Short walk across the Charles bridge and you're in the heart of it. There are lots of restaurants nearby as well. The hotel is across from the German embassy so it's quiet and feels safe. Everyone was great. From directions to restaurant suggestions as well as good breakfast. Couldn't have asked for more

We started our trip to Eastern Europe with a flight to Prague. The House at Big Foot is a small, but attractive and convenient B&B and the owners did all they could to ensure we had the maps, directions, and information we needed for our 3-night stay. It is located on the west side of the Vltava River, near the...

This hotel is a must if you are staying in Prague and want to be in a quiet area but still near the action. The staff are so helpful and looked after us so well. I would definitely get the pickup from the airport, Jan gave us a tour of Prague on the way to the hotel which really helped...

Highly recommended! Wonderful rooms, easy walk to transportation, delightful hosts who went out of their way to make sure our stay was nothing short of fabulous. We had two rooms - one double on the first floor and one on the top floor (with a view of the castle!) Breakfast was superb as well. We were there over the Christmas...

This place is fantastic. The main reason is that the family owners were incredibly warm and helpful. So much so that we will consider them lifelong friends. (There's a story explaining all this, but not necessary for this review.) The location is great, its just a little off the beaten path so it's very quiet, but really only a short...

Dum u Velky Boty (House at Big Boot) I discovered Dum u Velky Boty (House at Big Boot) in a New York Times article “36 Hours in Prague.” Only after arrival did I discover that the article was from 2007 (There is a newer 2014 version). Nevertheless, the Big Boot remains under the same charming managements and still merits the...

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighbourhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
