Hotel Residence Retezova is perfectly located in Old Town. It is a short walk to the Charles Bridge, the Astronomical Clock and the Old Town Square. The apartment we stayed in fit 4 people comfortably. The apartment was well designed and very clean. The staff were very helpful! I loved everything about this place. I highly recommend it!

We stayed at the Retezova May 21-24, 2006 in the NY Suite.
Large living room, average size bedroom (king bed), kitchen, two bathrooms.
Much better than a hotel (cost Euros 165 without b'fast).
Excellent front desk staff, great location. 2 minutes from Old Town Square & Charles
Bridge, yet on quiet dead-end street. Would highly recommend the Retezova.
Re Prague, the Prague Card is not worthwhile. We walked everywhere, no need
for public transport. Also, museum disc'ts won't pay for the card cost.
Pro's about Prague: great walking city, gorgeous architecture, Jewish section and
Castle area very worthwhile. Also do Petrin Hill and Letna Park, where tourists don't
often go. Great beer.
Con's about Prague: Use ATM's or banks, as money exchange places are all crooks.
Take taxi's used by your hotel, or AAA Taxi. Rest are not honest. Also, main
areas like Old Town Sq. and Charles Bridge flooded with tourists, and I mean flooded.
Reduces the pleasure of the visit a bit. Finally, many service people in banks, airlines,
restaurants, etc still act like from Soviet days. Very unpleasant, but it's probably no
different than in Paris or NY in tourist season.
The Mucha Museum is excellent (see the 30 miunute film they show).
The Museum of Communism also excellent (also with a moving 20 minute film, a must see).
Skip the National Museum. Eat once in the Old Town Sq., touristy, but beautiful.
Walk along the riverfront (no tourists, great building fronts). Eat away from the
main tourist areas (only need go a couple of blocks, or across the river to Castle side).
The beer is fabulous. Prague is one of the great cities in the world, but perhaps
nicer off-season.

My wife and I stayed 4 nights at the Residence Retezova in November 2003. I had been to Prague once on business in Jun 1999 and stayed at the Prague Renaissance. But since we were on our own expense this time, we had to watch our purse strings. My wife found the Retezova after much searching on the internet. The Retezova consists of 9 service apartments each named after the following cities from the smallest (18 sq metres) to the largest (115 sq metres) - Singapore, Rio de Janerio, Berlin, Madrid, New York, Paris, Jerusalem, Roma and London.

Since it's just the two of us, we went for the Singapore apartment. My wife got a very good deal on the internet - 70 euros a night including breakfast. (From the hotel's website, it would cost us 105 euros per night at the Singapore apartment during the low season in Nov.) We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The whole place looks newly renovated and very clean. Our Singapore apartment was perfect and appeared as it was shown on the hotel's website. It also came with a well-equipped kitchenette (with tea/coffee-making facilities) and a well-stocked bathroom. The receptionists were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and cheekily told us that we were the first Singaporeans to stay at their Singapore apartment!! (My wife and I are Singaporeans living and working in Geneva.)

The hotel location is just perfect, nestled in a quiet street in between Stare Mesto (Prague Old Town) and Karlov Most (Charles Bridge). Everything is within walking distance and there are also many shops and restaurants nearby. We were in for a bigger surprise at breakfast, which is served in a charming cafe adjoinging the hotel. The cafe is beautifully decorated in rustic European style and full of antiques, trinkets, old posters and turn of the century European memorabilia. The breakfast consist of ham, cheese, bread and jam, but we could also choose our choice of coffee from the extensive list on the menu. So, I had cappuchino on the first day, Viennese coffee on the second day, Americano on the third and so on.

This hotel really made our holiday immensely enjoyable. I would recommend the Retezova to anyone (especially families) looking for good-value accomodation in Prague. Singaporean travellers are a fussy lot. So if a Singaporean tells you that a hotel is good, take it from him that it is!!! Cheers!

We were referred to this hotel by Czech friends, and were delighted with the 4 days we spent there in June. The property is in a wonderful location, only minutes from the Old Town Centre and King Charles bridge, and has recently been renovated. It is an apartment hotel, which means you have a well stocked kitchen plus two bathrooms, which is fantastic when you're travelling as a family. It is spotlessly clean and well maintained.

The management, led by Hotel Manager Magdalena, were exceptional in helping us, whether it was finding directions to something in Prague or helping us plan our own excursions into the countryside.

We have already referred friends here for their upcoming visit, and think this hotel is one of the best we have ever stayed in, representing great value for money!

You must have a cappiccino in the restaurant for breakfast - almost the size of a soup bowl!

This is so far the best place I excperienced in Europe. It might be not easy to book a longer stay with a short notice. So for the 7 nights I was there, I changed 4 apartment. And you know what - this was even better. I moved between Paris, New York, Ierusalen and Roma. No huzzle at all - our goods where moved to the new place by the time we were back after a city walk. Each of the rooms has its own spirit, so it was real experience. All rooms are very romantic. And also, the hotel is located in the very heart of the city, but in a quiet corner, so it's not nosy at all. I really hope to get back there.

Our family of 5 stayed in "Roma", the most expensive apartment here. The accommodation was excellent and enormous. Good kitchen equipment for basic self catering, fridge space for Czech beer! but there is a mini bar and room service, not 24 hour, from the cafe next door. Very central, aroung the corner from the old town square and plenty of good bars and restaurants only a few seconds walk away. Worth taking a 5 minute walk to Tesco,an experience, not the same as UK. The only draw back for us was being woken ar 3 am by the people in the attic apartment above us, the original ceilings mean there is NO soundproofing and we could hear every word that was being said, it was as though they were in our room! We decided not to say anything until morning and reception were helpful and assured us that the apartment above us woud be empty for the rest of our stay but a word of warning the attic apartments are probably the places to stay here (there is a lift, except for the first flight of stairs).

We stayed in an apartment with two double bedrooms and a very good double sofa bed along with two bathrooms, a lounge and kitchen/diner. It also had another put you up bed, so would have slept seven very comfortably. It has the original beams on the ceilings and they are all painted. It also had air conditioning which was vital as it was very hot during our stay. It was extremely clean and comfortable and the beds were made every day and the apartment cleaned. The staff could not be nicer and were extremely helpful.
We had to move rooms after two days (Our booking error not theirs) and we then had one of the apartments in the roof space which again was really lovely, with a twin bedded room and a double in the roof rafters with two bathrooms and a lounge/kitchen diner.
It is in a really good position, two minutes from Charles Bridge and five minutes from Old Town square, but was tucked down a little side street so it was very quiet at night.
We had a fabulous time, prague is really beautiful and very easy to get around although it was a little crowded in July.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Residence Retezova
in Prague May ll-15, 2006. We have nothing but wonderful
things to say about our stay.

Our initial reaction when we walked into the Residence was
what a warm, clean and receptive environment. The
manager, Magdalena Sevcikova was efficient, warm and
inviting. She personally checked on our rooms and made
sure everything was in order.

We had a two bedroom, two bath apartment. It was
extremely clean, up to date in appliances and bathrooms.
The maid service each day was excellent. Everything in
the apartment was cleaner after she came.

Magdalena was extremely helpful in directly us around the
city as well as making dinner reservations. She took the
time and effort to make our stay a memorable experience.

In closing, we would like to say we are planning to go
back in 2007 and stay at the Residence Retezova again. We
know our experience will be as wonderful and memorable as
the first time.

Alan and Ginny Stein

I went to Prague for my wedding this Spring. After weeks and weeks of researching hotels online, I came across the Residence Retezova. What an outstanding find! The staff was terrific, spoke great english, treated me and my 25 guests who also stayed there fantastic. Rooms were perfect. All different sizes but all were very clean and were perfect for families. The place had tons of character and was in the heart of the Old Town yet off in a quiet, charming street so it was very private. Everything was superb. And, there is a great cafe next door for breakfast, snacks and drinks. It was perfect. I highly recommend this to everyone. It made my wedding extra special. And, Martina, the manager, is the absolute best. Thank you Residence Retezova-for a magical stay for me and my guests.

Can any of the rooms accommodate twin beds?
Answer from residence_retezova
Dearest guest, thank you very much for your inquiry. Most of our beds are Queen sized, however we have some rooms with 2 bedrooms, where twin beds are available. Please let us know if there is anything else we may be of further assistance. Team of Residence Retezova

I recommend just dropping them a line via email. They will respond and they are very helpful. My guess is they will help you carry your bags if you ask. I think they give a voucher for a discount at the cafe next to the hotel. The cafe opens around 0800 I think. They have only a small menu, If you decide to go looking just keep in mind most places are not open until 0900. If you have a kitchen I recommend buying some things at one of the local open markets or deli type shops and eat in your kitchen. You will really like this place. If you are an early riser get out and view the Charles Bridge before the crowds. At the other end of the bridge continue up the street and turn left on one of the first streets. There is a great little bagel shop there and they have a wonderful breakfast. It is a small place but it is really good.
