The Iron Gate Hotel & Suites, nestled in the heart of Old Town, garners acclaim for its prime location and historic atmosphere, complete with live music and antique charm. While the cleanliness and friendly staff receive high marks, guests have called out the hotel for its value, noting unexpected costs and a lack of free amenities that don't quite match its luxurious claims. Rooms are generally well-received for their cleanliness and decor, though some have raised concerns over noise and comfort. Despite mixed feedback, the amenities, including the enchanting courtyard and diverse breakfast options, are often highlighted as standouts.

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights and had the most wonderful time. From the moment we arrived until the afternoon we left the staff were helpful, courteous and professional.
We arrived early (10am) but we were quickly checked in and bags were taken care off allowing us to explore the area before our room was ready at 2pm. On our return the bags had been taken to our room. We stayed in a Goliath Suite which was so spacious and incredibly beautiful. The housekeeping staff ensured the room was immaculate throughout our stay.
We ate breakfast in the restaurant. There was a good choice of dishes, hot and cold, and plenty of it. We also had dinner in Deer restaurant which was wonderful. The menu was varied and seemed to cater for most tastes. I had the venison and it was probably the best I’ve ever tasted. 2 courses with an excellent bottle of Czech red wine was very reasonable and cost so much less than it would have here in the UK.
The location of the hotel is ideal for sightseeing. Literally 2 mins walk from Old Town Square and less that 10mins from river cruises and Wenceslas Square. The hotel arrange a driver to take us to the castle and this was very convenient.
Thank you all for a wonderful stay. If we return to Prague we would stay no where but The Iron Gate.

We requested a room with a frescoe and got it, along with a spacious and tall suite, appointed with wing back leather chairs, and matching fabric in the curtains and on the bed and cushions. The front desk attendant, Mirka, greeted us warmly in English, and shortly after our arrival the delicious fresh fruit tray we had ordered on-line arrived to our suite The complimentary buffet breakfast was excellent and filling before setting out on our trek through Prague, guided by Mirka's knowledgeable tips. The breakfast made a very reasonably priced stay even more affordable.
On leaving at 5 AM, Patrick the bellman came (on his own accord) to help us with our suitcases.
(Only down side: shower leaked onto floor, a consequence of new plumbing meeting old decor.)
Centrally located, literally two minutes walk to the Astronomical Clock square, this quiet haven in a busy city reinvigorated us for our tourist adventures.
Highly recommended!

The hotel was very warm clean, the rooms were very spacious and comfortable, the restaurant was very nice and the food excellent, Because this hotel is rated 5 star I would expect a better breakfast?( I hate powder orange juice) it should be fresh!!!!! and although they had some fruit they could of had more of a varity and a thicker yougart.

Location was perfect for the old town just 2 mins walk to the square, some of the hotel staff were very helpful and attentive especially Veronica and Patrick.

Warning we went to the sister hotel U Prince for a meal in the roof restaurant, my wife had a steak which was nothing like the picture on the menu and was beaten to within an inch of it's life, I had the Lobster which again was nothing like the picture and they clearly removed half of the meat from the Lobster? we had two starters two main courses and a £25 bottle of wine, total cost of £125 a complete rip off.

Dear Mike H, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent visit to the Iron Gate Hotel & Suites and I am delighted to learn that in general, you enjoyed your experience. I thank you for your compliments regarding the room, the food at the Deer Prague restaurant and the staff. I also note your comments regarding the breakfast, although we do not use a fresh juice, let me assure you that a powder juice, as mentioned by yourself above is not being used in our facilities. I do however thank you for your valued feedback. I do hope this will not deter you from returning to the hotel in the future and I do hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back again. Kind Regards, David Roubíček. Residence Manager Iron Gate Hotel & Suites

We recently spent two nights in the Junior Suite (room 101) to be exact during our short trip to Prague. The location was amazing, (within walking distance to everything), and the hotel itself was definitely five star.

The front desk staff however did not add up to be five star. Our interactions with them were underwhelming each time. Nothing ever really bad- but definitely not what I would expect from a five star hotel. They were just rude, to put it simply. It was quite surprising actually.

The junior suite was a great room, with lots of space, but next time I would most likely ask for another room, if available, simply because you had to walk through the hotel restaurant each time you wanted to get to your room. The restaurant is open until midnight each night, and you can smell & hear everything that was happening in the kitchen at all times, until closing, as you were right beside it. None of the other rooms had this problem, so it was just luck of the draw.

The only other negative I would add would be the parking situation. They say they offer valet parking (no self parking whatsoever)- but the price is way more than other hotels in the area, and you still can’t get your car all the way up the hotel front like you would assume. You have to park in street parking a ways down the street (if you can find it), and someone has to follow you out to get your car. In addition to the nightly parking fee, there is also an additional fee for each time they have to retrieve your car for you.

Other than those few things, we liked the hotel. The breakfast buffet was excellent!

Lovely staff who were always happy to help and very professional. Historic building a short walk from the hussle and bussle of the Old Town and square, perfect for exploring. Each room is unique, large and very comfortable, although very warm at times. Tub/ shower combination with great water pressure, we had no issue with "no hot water". Good facilities in the room with WIFI, Mini Bar, Complimentary water and 2 x's large TVs. Great choice at breakfast and busy bar at night, thoroughly recommend the Iron Gate.

Located in the city center, close to everything!
Excellent services, huge beds, sleeping in room 203 on the second floor.
We were at Christmas and felt in the hotel as in fairyland.
The room is huge!
The tub is a bit small.
Hot water in taps all the time
Outstanding room service, if you order food to your room there is a fee of about €4.
Outstanding breakfast, balcony seating
The restaurant in the hotel is excellent and the food is excellent and not at all expensive!
The hotel staff are very, very courteous and professional

In summary
value for money... perfect!

Nothing was too much trouble and we felt really well cared for. We had the apartment which was astonishing, not the least for the size of the chandeliers! It was beautifully designed. It is about 4 minutes walk from the main hotel, so you have to walk over to the hotel for breakfast - but that was fine with us. Everything was very thoughtfully designed including electric curtain opening and closing and lights everywhere, plus excellent wifi. Breakfast has everything you could wish for and they were happy to provide soya milk for us vegans. There's also a vegan restaurant just opposite so we were spoilt. We had an amazing time and the location was just brilliant. The apartment is a couple of minutes walk from a Tesco hypermarket, and a few minutes from the old town square.

We stayed at Iron Gate Hotel for extended weekend. We were 4 adults and there was way enough space, the suite was big , airy, and cozy decorated.
We liked that the hotel was good central location yet a tiny removed from the main square (but super close), so it was a bit quieter yet still close by.
Above all, the staff was amazing!!! Everyone so friendly and helpful.
Especially , Patrick, he helped us throughout with a very specific out of the ordinary request we needed help with, and he did it graciously.
Will definitely book this next time we go, and hands down recommendation for Prague.

We stayed for four nights in a Standard Junior Suite with bed and breakfast. The hotel is lovely and the rooms are large and furnished with heavy wooden furniture and ornate decor - and a huge bed. The mini bar was fully stocked and was reasonably priced. Tea and coffee was replenished daily but they only left four sachets and no milk was provided so we bought our own. The toiletries (shower gel, shampoo, moisturiser) were of good quality and replenished daily.

The location of the hotel is fantastic and literally a couple of minutes walk to the old town square so very good for sightseeing.

The breakfast was good comprising scrambled and fried eggs, bacon, sausages, beans, fruit, yoghurt, cereals, pastries and different types of bread. If I had any criticism it would be that they did run out of some items towards the end of service and they weren't replenished, so some days we didn't get what we wanted but it wasn't a major issue for us.

The staff were friendly enough, but didn't go out of their way to acknowledge us which was a bit disappointing in what is supposed to be a 5 star hotel. For this reason (and the coffee/breakfast situation) I can't give it full marks. Nevertheless, we had a brilliant stay and I would definitely stay there again, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.
