Am never sure whether this is the "curse" of Expedia - lovely hotel at really rock bottom rates meaning that whilst you get what it says on the website it leaves you feeling disappointed. We stayed at Iron Gates for three nights 18th-21st Oct and booked a one bedroom suite (room 402). This was not one of the beautifully frescoed...

Dear valuable guest, thank you for taking your time to write your comments. You have originally booked a Junior Suite through Expedia and we provided a free upgrade to One Bedroom Deluxe Suite which is bigger with separate bedroom and living room. Hotel was very busy during your stay and fact is that all our 43 rooms and suites are...

We stayed at this hotel for our second wedding anniversary and happened to have a suite. After staying in hundreds of hotels during my life I have to say this is one of the nicest. Upon entering the grand doors to the suite we were greated with a kitchen and downstairs bathroom. Then to the 2nd floor with 2 sofas...

My wife and I returned from 3wonderful nights in the Iron Gate. From the charming building, the professional & helpful staff, the clean & spacious room (Junior Suites Royal) with original 14th-16th century frescoes, the really fine continental breakfast, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at this hotel. The location is superb: just 2 (two) minutes walking from the Astronomical Clock...

We have just completed our first visit in Prague and stayed at the Iron Gate. It was very hard task to choose the right place for first visit as there are many good hotels in Prague. Finally we decided to take a recommendation of friends and we cannot say enough about this hotel ! Location is the best !!! They...

The Iron Gate hotel is in a very old building with lots of winding corridors, huge rooms, beautiful painted ceilings and plenty of charm and character. It is certainly not a modern, plastic building! We had a superb suite with huge lounge area, two bathrooms and a kitchen dining area. Comfortable beds and good pillows and bedding. Staff were without...

My wife & I stayed at the Iron Gate Hotel for three nights. This hotel is ideally situated just 2 minutes from Old Town Square in a quiet side street. The hotel is a beautiful old building where the staff are warm, welcoming and extremely efficient. Our spacious suite was on three levels and like the rest of the hotel,...

The Iron gate is a unique gem of a hotel, literally a few steps from the old town square in Prague. It is an old coaching house and all of the rooms are individually decorated but include all the old painted beams that were in the building in the 1300s. The entrance is through an arched gateway, where the hotel...

Stayed for 2 nights and the hotel was clean and location ideal. Rooms are nicely appointed and staff is very friendly and courteous. The location in old town cannot be beat. We paid 180 Euro (roughly$250 American) per night and it included breakfast and all taxes. I would definitely go back. This is a boutique hotel with a lot of...

Beautiful hotel in the middle of Old Town of Prague. 1 minute walk to the old City hall; 5 minutes walk to the New Town (Wenceslass) and also 5 minutes walk to the Charles Bridge. Staff is friendly. The rooms are large, clean and tidy, with painted ceilings. Breakfast is a buffet. You can eat in- or outside. (room-service is...

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
