The Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa is located just a few steps from Prague Castle and Charles Bridge, amidst the picturesque streets of Malá Strana. The hotel is housed in four former bourgeois houses, the oldest of which, "Dům u Ježíška" (House by the Infant Jesus), has served various purposes and owners over the past five centuries. In keeping with the historic character of the building, the Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa sensitively incorporates the Aquarius Restaurant, which spoils its guests with modern Italian and local specialities and an exquisite wine collection, and the Indonesian Ecsotica Spa & Health Club, which is located in the building's ancient cellars and offers a perfect hideaway for relaxation.

This was such a fabulous hotel, I can’t imagine ever being in Prague again and staying anywhere else! The staff went above and beyond in every way to make our stay exceedingly comfortable and luxurious. Prosecco upon arrival, beautiful spaces, one of the best massages ever, we used the spa every night, happy hour every evening. Rooms were spacious, had all we needed, location was just right. We approached it in the evening, all lit up, like a dream. We laughed with the breakfast (which was amazing) staff every morning, what a great way to start a day. Best vacation ever. Don’t stay anywhere else in Prague, really.

I booked the Alchymist for a 3 day visit for my wife and I for a combined birthday present. After searching through the websites of probably 70+ hotels, I chose the Alchymist due to its wonderful decor which is very much my wife’s taste, the location and the reviews I had read.

I have to say it was certainly the right choice as everything about the Alchymist was wonderful!

Upon arrival we were met at the entrance as we stepped out of our taxi, welcomed to the hotel and our ( very heavy) Case was taken through to reception.

We were seated at a grand desk and offered a glass of sparkling wine whilst we completed the check in process. We were then walked up to our room by a member of the staff who showed us the lounges, bar, and restaurant whilst telling us their opening times.

He told us about the Spa and Pool and also about the daily complimentary cheese and wine served between 4pm - 5pm..... a very nice touch!

He showed us our room and explained about the room safe etc..., then he returned a few minutes later with our case.

The room was beautiful, very ornate with a terrifically comfortable bed. We asked for some additional pillows and an iron which arrived in minutes.

We only ate breakfast at the hotel as we were sightseeing most of the time. However the choice was terrific and the food excellent.

Every member of staff we encountered was extremely efficient and very polite and friendly. However, I have to say a special thank you to the two reception staff and in particular, Pavel who was absolutely terrific.

I spoke to Pavel continually throughout our stay to ask general questions about directions etc... but he also helped me tremendously booking a river boat dinner cruise on one evening and an evening at the Mozart Dinner which I can highly recommend!

In both of the above, Pavel rang the venues and secured us the best seating. It was also very convenient that we were able to pay the hotel for each event rather than having to pay at the venue or through their website.

i have probably had well over 100 hotel stays over the years for business ( especially) and leisure trips through Europe, Asia and the US. I can honestly say that my stay at the Alchymist is possibly the best experience I have had.

The politeness and efficiency of the staff is absolutely first class. The decor is wonderful and the hotel is spotlessly clean.

The location of the hotel is excellent; in a quiet street but within 7 mins walk from Charles bridge which takes you into the Old town.

If I visit Prague again, this hotel would be my first if not only choice. I can’t recommend it strongly enough!

Stayed here with my other half. The building is just over 500 year old and is situated next to the American Embassy and is a very safe area of the city.
The Hotel cost that little bit extra to stay there and is very authentic in the deco inside the rooms and throughout the hotel itself. The staff are awesome and very friendly. Each room has a mini bar that you have to pay for and its not cheap to purchase from it.
Also has a pool and sauna in the lower levels of the hotel. The food is awesome and very fresh.
Its located on the West side of the river but close to the castle in the city.
I would go there again and is more enjoyable in winter months with less people there and costs lower than summert time 10/10

A special birthday surprise just before Christmas. This was the perfect romantic retreat after trekking around Prague all day, located just over Charles bridge, near to the Castle. The staff were very welcoming, with complimentary bubbles as we checked in, to delicious cheese and wine every afternoon in the lounge, and an extensive breakfast selection. The whole hotel and rooms are beautifully decorated in traditional style and the finishing touches continued into the rooms with water every day and chocolates on the pillow. Thank you for making this a memorable stay.

I can’t praise this establishment enough! From the second you enter the hotel until the time you check out is a marvellous experience. The check-in procedure was as good as I’ve experienced anywhere in the world - warm welcome, courteous staff and a glass of fizz - we were off to a great start! We were then shown to our room with a guided tour of this wonderful Baroque style hotel and we couldn’t have been more pleased with the facilities. It was beautifully and tastefully decorated and furnished in keeping with the age of the property and including tea and coffee and a mini bar. The bed was very comfortable although we had to request additional pillows which were happily provided. The whole place was spotlessly clean and all of the staff work well as a team with an obvious attention to pride in first class customer service. The breakfast buffet was excellent with enough variety to accommodate most tastes. The Alchymist Grand Hotel & Spa is a true 5 star establishment and is situated perfectly to see the wonderful city of Prague. Highly recommended.

The hotel is in a great location very close to the US embassy and easy walking or tram distance from the Prague Castle, and walking distance to St. Nicholas church and Infant of Prague Catholic churches. The hotel staff is extremely helpful and always had someone on staff fluent in English. The breakfast was great, and enjoyed using the sauna in the mornings. The workout room is far better than most comparable European hotels and has a unique pool sauna spa area. Highly recommend this hotel. I was in Prague to visit friends and couldn't stay with them due to a family member having Covid-19. Because local friends arranged my stay I did have a slightly discounted rate. (But would argue for the price, you won't find better!) A number of good restaurants in the area as well. I just had a regular second floor room with a king size bed which was incredibly comfortable. Met some folks from the US who had a suite on the top floor which was amazing!

Excellent stay at the opulent Alchymist!

The proactive, attentive, and professional staff made this a romantic, wonderful stay. The staff handled everything beautifully at check-in from valet parking the car, promptly getting our baggage upstairs, taking our breakfast order, and making dinner reservations at an exceptional restaurant that overlooked Prague.

This old world style hotel was furnished with exceptional furnishings throughout and modern conveniences.

Security was exceptional.

We will certainly be staying at the Alchymist for our return trips to Prague!

We stayed for three wonderful nights.
At this hotel you don’t check in, you are welcomed.

Our suite on the first floor was amazing, it was bigger than many apartments and wonderfully appointed with period furniture and a private balcony and courtyard, being January and -5C we didn’t use these external features however that doesn’t diminish that that were there.
From the four-poster bed to the bathroom with a free-standing bathtub the room was luxury all the way.
The hotel restaurant was equally amazing with an extensive menu.

The staff are well trained and very welcoming.
This just a wonderful place to stay and an easy walk to Charles Bridge or the Castle.
This is a must to return to.

This hotel is superb in customer service. There wasn’t a moment when the staff wasn’t available to help and even sought out opportunities to do so.

The hotel offers a variety of private tours that they will book for you. (Two of us took the “Prague without crowds” tour and I booked one about WW2/communism.)

Breakfast is included, and the buffet was very large and beautifully arranged. Service there is also fantastic and attentive.

The building itself dates to the 1500s, but the hotel, while showing classic styles, isn’t in need of any repairs. The rooms are immaculate and large. My room, #301 overlooks the city and is very quiet, even with the windows open.

The location is superb, about a two minute walk to cafes, restaurants and shops. It’s immediately next door to a wine cafe and across the way from the American embassy (cars will be searched each time.)

I am definitely returning to Prague and will definitely stay here again.

Oh and the homemade chocolates are to die for!!

Our favorite hotel of our 3 country journey and all were highly rated. Our particular room, 102, was gorgeous with a bathroom that would rival the size of many hotel bedrooms. The soaking tub for two was such a treat after miles of walking through the city. The morning breakfast buffet was very large with numerous delicious choices all freshly prepared. One evening we also enjoyed their wine/cheese which was kindly extended extra time since everyone was having fun. There is also a fantastic, zen like spa. Be sure to book a massage! Staff were friendly and helpful. They booked a dinner reservation for us as well as arranging transportation for our early departure. We had a 6:30am pick up to the airport and the hotel had two bags filled with freshly baked pastries, sandwiches, fruit, orange juice, water, coffee and tea. My only caution is that it is located on the "quieter" side of the Charles Bridge. To us that was a positive. We love to walk and found it much more peaceful. Ubers and cabs are easy and readily available. Bring walking shoes for the cobblestone streets and appreciate walking off all of the calories.
