We met up with our adult children ( now living in the UK and Europe ) in Prague for Christmas .
The hotel itself is a beautiful and historic building .
I booked 3 rooms, 2 doubles and a prestige junior suite. The rooms were huge and beautifully decorated , and our suite was enormous and perfect for our needs.
It meant that we had somewhere to hang out and play board games over Christmas much like we would do at home.
Christmas wouldn't be the same without the the fierce competitiveness and the usual disputes over quiz questions.
Our room had a lovely terrace and I would love to revisit during warmer months to take full advantage of it.
The hotel is in an excellent location, a walk down the hill to the Charles Bridge and the chaos of the main tourist centre beyond.
Tip:Get up early and visit the bridge at dawn.It was really quite beautiful and wonderful to experience it without the throngs of other tourists.
There are plenty of bars and restaurants close to the Appia but the immediate surrounds are very tranquil and were perfect for us.
There is a cosy little restaurant next door ,U Magistra Kelly, serving local Czech food and a wine bar down the road , Vinotéka , if you don't want to venture too far after a busy day seeing the sights.
The hotel staff were so friendly and welcoming and the breakfast room with it's exposed beams was unique.
A lovely hotel with outstanding rooms offering very good value for money.
Would return without hesitation .

A thoroughly lovely 3 night stay in a Deluxe room. The location was just perfect for us - outside of the main noise areas but with easy walking distance of the throng of things (albeit it might be a bit of a climb for people with less mobility) Our room was very spacious and exceptionally clean. All staff were very pleasant and helpful if you needed anything. Also, all communication with reception prior to arrival to arrange airport transfers was speedy and reassuring.
Finally, I would definitely recommend the restaurant just round the corner called ‘Tast’. It has a limited menu but wow, what quality, service and ambiance, and at a great price for what you get.

We have stayed twice at this superb hotel. It’s well located in the Malá Strana, close to all the attractions of old Prague. Our suite on this visit had glorious views of St Nicholas and over old Prague. The suite was very spacious and well appointed. Breakfast was included and it is the best buffet breakfast in Europe, including champagne. The staff are charming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. We greatly enjoy staying here and this will always be our hotel of choice in Prague.

We are currently staying at the Appia hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is in an extremely safe area surrounded by Embassies. It is a short walk to Charles Bridge & Prague Castle. Beautiful area.
The room we are in is stunning. The building itself is a listed historical building. The bedroom is enormous open plan. Chandelier, wooden beams, beautiful furniture. It really feels luxurious. The breakfast was fantastic with great options, particularly sweet treats to indulge on holidays. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. Paul picked us up from the airport. He was friendly and chatty. Telling us all about Prague & general chat. Upon arrival we were greeted with a welcome drink and smiling faces. Every member of staff is friendly and smiling. To really finish it off, we arrive back to the hotel this evening to a Happy Birthday message & bottle of prosecco as a gift for my husbands birthday.
I dont have one negative thing to say about Appia. If you're thinking of booking, do it now. You wont be sorry!

Appia residence is the hidden gem, situated near the Prague Castle. Location is very quiet, surounded by beautifull historical buildings, churches, just few steps from Petřín hill and Charles Bridge. Rooms are very comfortable , clean and spacious, very well equiped and decorated. We were nicely suprised with the bottle of sparkling wine upon arrival. The breakfast was served in the attic room, variety of food was amazing and all the staff was very helpfull and very attentive. Appia has undeground parking which is very useful in the historical part of Prague. Our stay was fantastic, we will definitely come back again!

I am from Bangladesh and me and my friends was on vacation in prague and we this luxurious hotel. From beginning to end, it was an exceptional experience. The check-in process was quick and easy, and the staff was extremely welcoming and friendly and especially thanks to Pavel and Roman. The room itself was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, with a comfortable bed that allowed for a restful night's sleep. The room was equipped with a coffee maker, a mini-fridge, and a large flat-screen TV.
The hotel also had excellent dining options, including a restaurant serving delicious meals and a bar with a wide selection of drinks. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which offered a wide variety of options.

There is not much to say when everything works perfectly.
Appia has the perfect location - few steps away from German and US Embassy in Mala Strana, meaning the most beautiful area in Prague and in the same time in a tiny road where you don't have the continue flow of tourists all day long.
Rooms/Apts are perfect, large, very warm and welcoming.
Service is at the right level.
Nothing special to mention to improve. Maybe, if you are on a wheelchair the old building didn't seem ideal, but i wouldn't be surprised if they have thought about a solution.
Totally advised. We'll go back.

The place is incredibly charming. With 7 centuries of history, this building is one of the most picturesque and historical in Prague and every single room, door knob or chandelier has a story to tell. The whole place is very well refurbished and perfectly maintained with a great attention to details and quality. We got a free room upgrade to apartment and wow, so much space and elegance. Classic wood flooring yet it won’t make a sound, plenty of sunlight, coffee bar, impeccable sheets with huuuge duvet and a bed so comfortable it feels like sleeping on clouds. Nice amenities, excellent breakfast and the breakfast space is something really unique. Highly recommended!

As for restaurants, just down the street at 50 m there is a tiny restaurant (with a small terrace) where you can get simple but well made local dishes. And in the street leading to the castle, a few hundred meters above the hotel, there are several very good restaurants, including a delicious vegan place. About taxis, it is easy to go to the hotel ( which is very close to the German embassy), and the staff will very willingly get you a taxi ( we had one to leave for the airport, for visiting, it is really easy to walk) Have a good stay in Praha
Answer from Stucolco

It all depends on how much you want to spend. And you should not restrict yourself to Mala Strana since it is easy and inexpensive to go by taxi to restaurants in other parts of Prague. During our short visit to Prague we ate at: St. Martin which is very close to Appia and inexpensive, 46 pounds for 2 of us La Veranda which is more suitable for an anniversry dinner but still reasonably priced, 86 pounds for 2 of us Mincovna which is another inexpensive place to eat, 57 pounds for 2 of us Bellevue which is on the other side of the Charles bridge and some tables have a view of the bridge. One of the more expensive Prague restaurants where we had dinner on our last night in Prague. Service is exceptional, 149 pounds and by far the most we spent for dinner during our 16 days in London, Warsaw, Krakow and Prague. Congratulations on 10 years and hopefully many more to come. My wife and I are now at 52, having been married in London in 1966 and moved to the US in 1968.
