U Schnellu is a great pub I always look forward to visiting on any trip to Prague I take.
I never stayed in the hotel but I love the pub,it's got a traditional cosy interior,a cool looking serving bar, great decor and furnishings,tv's to enjoy the sport and lots of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside ,it's also adjacent to one of Prague's most beautiful churches namely Church Of St Thomas.
We were here on a Friday afternoon,we ordered beers from Staropramen Brewery ,these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and with the distinctive foamy head so characteristic of the way Czech beer is poured and served.
My beer was exceptional ,a light, hoppy and unpretentious lager style beer ,very tasty and very refreshing on a hot afternoon,it was just so good being in such a great Lesser Town pub enjoying a delicious local beer.
We moved on after our beers,we only stayed for the one each before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time,it's easy to locate along Tomasska and well worth checking out.

Experienced and service-minded personnel that helped us every step on our trip. Really convenient with a restaurant in the same building with a 20% discount if you are a guest at the hotel. Clean and comfy room with a lovely view and it is close to everything. We will 100% come back.

We only paid for a double room, but somehow ended up in a large room on the top floor with three beds and a great view of St. Nicholas cathedral and the charming buildings round about. The room was clean and pleasant, no AC but lots and lots of windows for fresh air.

We drove in and found out that driving in Prague right now is not at all a good idea. Because of construction, there is some really crazy rerouting of traffic going on that brings ALL traffic trying to go through Old Town on the East side of the river over to the West side, and right in front of the hotel before going back to the other side of the river. After sitting in traffic for a lifetime to actually get there, we were just ready to veg at the hotel, but there was no parking (which was expected- we had been planning to drop off our luggage, park across the river, and walk back...or something).

Instead, the incredibly kind manager (? or some sort of employee? I'm not totally sure what his function was, but he was fabulous) hopped in his car (after checking us in), led us to the nearest garage (under the Rudolfinum), somehow fit our massive luggage into his car, and drove us back to the hotel, then carried our (still massive) suitcases up several flights of stairs to our room (no elevator). And then he refused a tip. What?!

The next morning, he repeated the entire thing in reverse (alas, our itinerary only allowed us one night in Prague), and again refused to accept any tips.

Oh, and did I mention the location? It could not be better- about halfway between the castle and the bridge, all the old-towny type sites are within an easy (not to mention unbelievably beautiful- there's something wonderful around every corner!) walk.

I would have given a very positive review even without the truly wonderful and considerate service we received, but that was what boosted it into a really memorable stay.

I will definitely be back to Prague someday soon, and when I return, I definitely plan on staying at the Hotel u Schnellu.

(we didn't have dinner in the restaurant, but the breakfast was great!)

Pro: Location: You can walk to all the major sites Con: Location: Hot nights you cannot open the windows since the tram ROARS past front of hotel Pro: Outside noise is muffled by two sets of windows and foot-thick walls. Cons: People in hall can be heard clearly (A second door between the room's hall and bedroom would solve this). Pro: Lovely interior architecture. Con: Dirty old rug of the type that is impossible to vacuum. Pro: Friendly staff, good breakfast buffet Pro: Large, clean white bathroom Con: No vent pipe so sewer odor fills bathroom. Con: The tub is only good for baths; showers overflow the surround (we flooded the floor each time until we built a dam of towels--and then we had to share a damp towel). Pro: Room smells fine. Con: Dark-painted and dimly lighted entry and staircase smell like a cellar (opening hall windows daily would help). All in all, we found we couldn't relax in the room because it didn't feel clean. The cleaning lady does a good job, but the stains, smells, and type of rug make her job impossible. Pro: The exterior is beautiful. Pro: Views out the windows are of baroque architecture and churches Con: Tasteless photos of women in hall (not kid-friendly). Without improvements, we just couldn't recommend it. It needs AC, a second door, a vent pipe, all-around shower curtain with higher shower-head holder, a cloth draped over stained couch, and a new rug. You find your own parking on the street with a sticker they give you for 20 euros a day. It's a better deal than the parking lot diagonally in front of the hotel.

We stayed 4 nights as a family of 4 in the family suite. Very spacious, clean and comfortable.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The discount in the restaurant was welcome, as we ate there several times.
The location was superb.
We loved our stay in Prague and would recommend strongly.

This hotel was exactly as advertised. Air conditioning was excellent, it would have been impossible to sleep without it. Bed was very comfortable. Location is amazing; 5 minute walk to the Charles Bridge and close to the castle. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby but VERY quiet in the rooms. We did get used to having baths rather than a shower but this was fine. Breakfast was buffet style and provided a good range of fruit, breads, cheese, meat etc. Excellent value for money.

Just returned from a 3 night stay in U Schnellu with breakfast included. Lovely big rooms, bedding changed every day and spotlessly clean. A little tlc possibly needed here and there but nothing drastic. The beds are ultra comfortable. The only downside was the pillows - absolutely no support in them. Staff were all very polite, pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was fine, with the usual cereals, meats, cheeses, bread / toast / croissants and a variety of preserves. Cooked items were also available. The bar / restaurant is very busy and has a wide selection available. The decor is very unusual and interesting e.g.there are old 78 records on the walls. The one I looked at featured a singer called Grace Moore. Just from curiousity, I Googled her And came across her amazing life story - opera singer, actress, Oscar winner, film made of her life story - and I'd never even heard of her! There are old sewing machines and a huge cash register that Arkwright would be proud of. The location is excellent, being at most 5 mins walk from Charles bridge and about 15 from the castle. I would def go back if I return to Prague. P.S. There is no lift, so if any walking difficulties, request 1st floor - we were in 103

Great location, room was very spacious, but bathroom was small, no shower curtain, bath was chipped and dirty, aircon didn't work, wifi was terrible.

We were charged twice for our stay. It has now been over 8 weeks since we stayed here and still haven't been refunded!! They take ages to reply to emails and sometimes don't even bother replying.

We asked hotel staff for directions they gave us the wrong tram number which resulted in us missing our 8 hour train and having to wait 7 hours for the next.

Avoid at all costs total rip off and would never stay here again. It's more of a B&B rather than a hotel. And I have stayed in better hostels

Let's start with Breakfast unappetising and boring. If you are not down by 8 the bread is cold and stale. The scrambled eggs are watery and the selection I have seen a lot better.

I had the mistake of ordering dinner here once and that was the first and last time yes you get a discount but it's not worth it. Bland and barely warm surprised I wasn't I'll.

Location is great but in 30 degree heat then you want the windows open noisy trams so not a good idea.

Next the room there was no mini bar and no coffee making facilities hence my comment about B&B for 80 euros a night then have stayed in better places. The bath was seriously chipped and no shower curtain. I found long blonde hairs on my bed since I am bold they weren't mine. The place needs a serious dusting it had been done in probably 2015 on top of the sockets and bathroom cupboard thick with dust. The door frame at the bottom was bowed and had chipped paint. The toilet either refused to flush it took several attempts to remove the waste.

The room service was a joke I had to make my own bed duvet and cover just dumped on the bed. There was no rubbish bin in the room so left empty bottle of soda and crisp packet on the desk for them to be removed however came back in the afternoon and still there !!!

If you're looking for central but not too touristy, this hotel is perfect. The locals use the restaurant as such, and the rooms are very comfortable and spacious.

plus points: Staff very friendly. food and beer good at reasonable prices. Location is excellent for sight seeing. Rooms very comfortable.

minus points: tram line runs alongside and does get a bit rumbly. 15th Century church is gorgeous but rings the hour..... every hour. Bath and shower attachment only - no shower.
