I booked a transfer before I left the UK. I normally use public transport when I go abroad as it's usually cheap and easy but I was arriving late at night and had no idea how to find my hotel on arriving in Gdansk. I think I would have struggled to find it late at night in the dark and as it is tucked away down what looks like an alleyway I would have been a little uneasy to do it alone late at night. However the area is actually ok and I never felt unsafe day or night once I had my bearings. The transfer cost me £15 return and in my opinion if you are arriving after dark it's the best way to travel to the hotel.
