All the old traditional 5 star hotels should be downgraded to 4 stars unless than can keep up their standards to match today's 5 star hotels. I only stayed here as my flight was changed and the hotel I was originally booked into (the Sofitel) was fully booked. Since I wanted to go to the Panorama Sky Bar on the 40th floor anyway I decided to spend a night here. There was only one girl at reception who told me that as a Marriott Bonvoy member she had given me an upgrade but it wasn't a real upgrade, it was just a room on a higher floor, the 33rd one. I walked into the room and it smelled really musty. You could definitely see the age of the hotel but the bed and armchair with footrest were comfortable so once I got used to the smell it was alright. I had to work online all afternoon and wanted room service but the phone was dead. I tried calling the hotel from my mobile phone but no-one answered so I went down to the restaurant on the 2nd floor myself to place my order. Luckily they took my order quickly and delivered the food very quickly too. The room service waiter was also really good and I got the service I expected from a 5 star hotel. In the evening I went down to the basement gym and pool run by Holmes Place to which guests have free access. It's open from 6am to 11pm during the week and 8am to 9pm at weekends. Since there was a babies' swim session on Saturday morning the pool had been heated up which was nice but a huge chunk of the pool is cut off by two jacuzzis at the shallow end so it wasn't great for swimming lengths especially when you swim up to one of the jacuzzis and a couple is seriously making out in it. They obviously didn't have a room at the hotel! The gym was alright with most of the equipment you need but it seemed a bit old and the cardio equipment was squeezed together. It didn't exactly inspire me to come back but since I'd just spent 5 weeks at the Four Seasons in Tunis with their excellent and spacious gym to myself, I was a bit spoiled. I went up to the Panorama Sky Bar alone at 9pm and was taken up to the top which wasn't as nice as the first floor but the hostess told me she only had a space at the bar despite me having reserved a table. The banquette I sat on was really uncomfortable and the music was far too loud. I had a Royal cocktail with champagne, Chambord black raspberry liqueur, lemon and home-made citrus bitters for 69 zl. I had prawn tempura for 65 zl and somehow managed to get sauce all over myself. I left and after getting changed went to the bar at the Raffles bar which was more my style. The next morning I went down to the second floor for breakfast and saw that they had taken appropriate Covid measures with a lot of servings of food in individual glass jars. I would only stay here again if the price was good compared to other places.…

I am a fan of this hotel from long time but recently i was really shocked how poorly they protect clients from Covid. The people working wear masks, the place are cleaned and you have gel dispenser but... BUT... nobody check if clients wear masks in elevator... clients go around breakfast restaurant without mask speaking close to kitchen, to bread, to juice... is such a pity. It is needed to create a barrier to Covid or we go again in lock down!!! People is crying about low guests... you do not solve the problem letting people doing whatever they want... you do fighting against the spread of it!!! Put someone at the entrance of elevator, breakfast lobby... for the respect of your employees and your guests!!!
My family and I spent 3 weeks in the Marriott hotel just before we were going to move abroad, and I must say we were not disappointed with the customer service. Sadly, dinner was a bit poor bc the lounge was not ready yet, and the cleaners only came every second day however overall my stay was very good. Everything we needed was provided and the staff was always friendly! Classy experience!
The hotel is big good location , but my room was terrible 2 star standard, bathroom was very small just disappointing It,s a hotel that does not think it has to try any more . view is good from the room windows , hotel foyer is big , but in general the hotel is souless
