We rolled into Piran after booking Max's while on a cruise ship in October 2007. (thus we stayed in 2007) We 'found' Max's and his brother Johnny showed us where to stow the car then gave my husband a ride back to the hotel on his moped. The four of us sat on the front step and shared a bottle...

Although this was a cozy (very small rooms) quaint spot and a nice location, Max was not the most personable host. He offered no help in where to park and how to get to the pension. The towels & room rarely got cleaned, and the quaint church bell rang EVERY 15 MINUTES ALL NIGHT LONG outside our room window. We...

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Max for 2 nights in early September on a greypacking trip down the Adriatic. Picked it from a tripadvisor review and wasn't disappointed. Small rooms but a perfect location in a heritage buildings metres from the main square. Clean, comfortable and our host Max was the best host. Loves to talk politics, current...

We had a great time, fabulous location, great breakfasts, great welcome, Max's sister was helping out and she was brilliant - really charming and helpful.

We stayed for 3 nights with Max in Piran and had a fantastic time. Having read some of the other reviews after making our booking, we were a little nervous, but didn't need to be. Our room was lovely, and perfectly clean. The hotel was in a great location, walking distance to the main square and sea, but in a...

We stayed at Max Piran for 2 night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Max. Max was a wonderful host. Breakfast was lovely. The room was very clean and had everything that we needed. There was an air conditioning unit which was much appreciated in the very hot weather. Max Piran is in an excellent location - just a two...

We have just come home after a week in Slovenia which included two nights at Hotel Max. We stayed at Hotel Max without seeing the reviews on Trip Advisor and I'm so glad we did. We arrived without a reservation and Max's sister was there cleaning the hotel and let us in and settled us in our room. She was...

I have been here twice - once when Max was fast asleep drunk on the restaurant floor and once when he was sober. The first occasion was a disaster and meant that there was no breakfast - the second time (at his invitation to show he could do better) was a more pleasant time. The hotel is small and the...

The hotel is multiple stories, with 2 rooms on each story, and the stairs are really narrow. When we showed up in the late afternoon, the hotel was closed, so we came back later. Max is really friendly, and he's a partier. He might be too much of a character for some people, but I found him to be pretty...

Rather mixed review of our stay at Hotel Max I’m afraid. As others have already written Hotel Max is a brilliantly located, charming small hotel in the wonderful old town of Piran. The hotel, & our room, called Maria, (charmingly no numbers used,) was spotlessly clean and with real character. And had a freestanding fan which was a God-send in...
