Stayed here for 3 nights in May 2010. The location is a bit out of the city, close to a major transportation hub (convenient), but a fairly long walk into the city center (not as convenient). It was on the outskirts of what was called "The Ghetto" of Pest by a friend from the city who was showing us around....

Very nice hostel, very nice idea, very nice place (you can go by feet in the city centre, you have the metro stop at your feet, you can find a free parking zone only five minutes away)... The furnitures were good, the oriental decor are pretty, but the room and the common spaces are not so clean. By the way,...

Just spend 4 nights at the Mandragora Doubles. Not sure I would return, if in Budapest again - I think if possible to find equal value in a better location in this city. Here are the pluses and minuses of Mandragora Doubles: Pluses: relaxed atmosphere; friendly, helpful and charming staff and owner; use of sitting room and kitchen; convenient location....

I stayed in the smaller of rooms at Mandragora Doubles but it was just right - enough room to relax in at the end of a long day sightseeing! It's incredibly convenient to the Metro (it's literally downstairs) and for a few supermarkets/shops etc. Basically it's a good base to stay in that's not super expensive but is close enough...

Stayed 3 nights in Mandragora Doubles and loved it! Lovely decorated room, nice bathroom, comfy shared sitting room area and small (also shared) well equipt kitchen (previous guest had left tea, coffee, spices etc. so all was available for home cooking). It was super clean and felt like staying at a friends flat. Approx. 15-20 min walk to shopping area...

Mandragora Doubles was exceptional from start to finish. Booking via the hostel's website was easy and they were quick to follow-up via email. They were also very accommodating with our late arrival, which became later due to a flight delay. The staff is not on site, but really bends over backwards to meet you there when you need them (to...

I can describe my stay at Mandragora in one word. Great! It was exactly as described, the rooms were clean and the apartments were in a great location, very easily accessible. I've stayed in many countries where details like cleanliness and service are just glossed over, but I was really impressed with M.D. The owners of the place were really...

First off, I need to state that this place is for people who do not need a reception desk because there is none. Once I was able to get into the place (they expect you to call ahead to let them know what time you will be there), I was very happy with the stay. The first few moments though...

i have just returned from a trip where i toured many cities in eastern and western europe, and i can say for sure that Mandragora Doubles is one of the best places that i've been to. We stayed there for 2 nights, and really wished we had more time to use the place, or to enjoy the facilities. It's basically an...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
