Everyone before me has already said it, spotlessly clean, fantastic location and great hosts. There was plenty of advice on hand all the time for choosing restaurants and activities around the city. Beds were very comfortable, free internet, and breakfast provided at Costa Coffee just a couple of minutes away. An absolute bargain!

Zoltan and Bob were great hosts, friendly and helpful. The location was excellent. Good value for the money. The newly renovated rooms are modern and comfortable. If you want a room with a window facing the street, you must ask for room #4.

What a wonderful and well run establishement. Great location so convenient to everything. Nice quiet inside rooms but if you prefer a window and view request an outside room. Internet was available when required and the breakfast provided at the cafe round the corner was very satisfactory.

Enjoyed our stay in Budapest in this very clean, friendly B and B. We really like Zoltan and Bob's approach to running a B 'n B and do not hesitate to recommend the Danube.

Bob and Zoltan own and operate the Danube Guest House, located just down Dohany Street from the recently reconstructed Jewish Synagogue. Their door is almost always open, and as English speakers they are happy to provide whatever maps, information, and assistance you might need to enjoy Budapest. Their six or seven rooms occupy a corner of the mezzanine level of...

When I first arrived in Budapest, I thought this might be a rough and tumble sort of place. But after I was met by Bob when I arrived at Danube Guest House, I felt a lot more comfortable! Bob sat me down and went over the basics of the house as well as things I might be interested in such...

I stayed here for 3 nights in mid August and I was hugely impressed. From the moment, I arrived I was made feel very welcome and given lots of helpful tips on Budapest. It is located on a beautiful tree lined street near the National Synagogue. There are some nice bars and restaurants in the area. The room was homely...

Budapest was the first stop on our trip and we were so pleased we chose the Danube Guest House. It is a very clean, centrally located facility within walking distance to most tourist sites. If you prefer to use city transportation, the Metro and buses are only a block or two away. Zoltan and Bob are your hosts and will...

Both Zoltan and Bob were very friendly and helpful upon our arrival, providing us with more than just the keys to the room! Maps, information on the best places for dinner, sights, hop-on and off tours, etc. were just some of the things they were able to help us with. The room was a great value (room #3) and reasonably...

There are 2 qualities in particular that make the Danube Guest house an excellent choice: the kindness and great help offered by Zoltan and Bob and the design and quality of the rooms, all for a very fair price. It is true about the window situation in some of the rooms, but if you use your air conditioner/ventilator it really...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
