Our first time in Budapest and this was the perfect place to explore the city from. When you have never been to a place before it's hard to know what to look for in your hotel choice. This was close to the Vaci Utca (main shopping street) and minutes from the Danube. It's small, intimate, beautifully decorated in a style...

So charming, so friendly, so centrally located - the Gerlóczy Rooms de Lux is a perfect retreat from the worries of life. The hotel is small and beautiful, with a tremendous spiral staircase and a clean, efficient lift. The hotel has a super café with a top-notch pastry chef and a lovely canary named Lóczy who sings his song as...

My boyfriend and I went to Budapest for New Years and chose to stay at hotel Gerloczy. Best decision we've ever made. Beautiful hotel, unique rooms, free mini bar, and an excellent restaurant downstairs.

This is a great change from the faceless chain hotels that are found everywhere. Each room is individually decorated and has lots of nice old features from the furniture to the shower fittings. If you want glass, chrome and plastic, this is not the place for you. We stayed 3 nights and ate twice at the restaurant downstairs in the...

This hotel looks a little spooky, when you enter from a side street, but as soon as you are in one feels that you are very welcome to stay there. Front desk staff very helpful and professional. Breakfast cafeteria very nice, old classic style. In the summer must be a hit in the city. Internet worked fine and the rooms...

Stayed for 4 days over new years. Location was great. Near transportation and very walkable. The hotel has lots of charm. The hotel staff was really nice, but they couldn't provide extra towels or blankets and the room was COLD. Said they just didn't have any - and the linens were super thin to begin with. Had to sleep in...

A wonderful, stylish, small hotel located in the heart of Budapest. Only a few steps away from the main Vaci street, but very quiet and calm. They also have a small restaurant at the ground floor, which is actually very good - don't miss their gulash chorba and pictachio tart with sour cherry! Last but not the least - the...

We are currently staying at this hotel at the end of a four day break. It has a prime location near to many of the main attractions situated in a quiet square. Our room feels very individual and the en suite is very tasteful. Free wireless is very fast. Breakfasts are in the delightful cafe and the freshly baked pastries...

Generously-sized rooms with glamorous furniture and fittings with little balconies overlooking the small square below. Helpful staff and in quiet charming quarter very close to the river and the centre of Pest. Lovely meal in the bistro restaurant - loved the different non-alcoholic cocktails and wonderful menu. All to the accompaniment of a harpist and the canary joining in! Staff...

A small hotel with very good attention to detail, the rooms were beautifully furnished and the minibar (Free!) likewise. Excellent location within walking distance of all the major tourist sights of the city, but off the main road sufficiently to be quiet. Close to the Ferenciek Tere M3 metro station. Although the 12 euro breakfast may seem restrictive, we were...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
