Stayed at Sandor's hostel, which in our case was a 4 bed private apartment. Could not recommend this place more in terms of convenience, location and value for money. Add to that the extreme cleanliness and attentiveness of our host and you have the perfect combination. Sandor provided us with a lift to and from the airport and his mobile...

Started brilliantly with Sandor picking us up from the bus station with a running commentary of the city throughout the journey. A brilliant first insight, he clearly knew the city very well. Brilliant shared apartment with great kitchen and spacious rooms. THE best location to stay for night life and atmosphere! Szimpla bar right opposite but in a quiet enclosed...

Thank you, thank you Sandor for everything. My girlfriend and I stayed there in June to enjoy our first time in Budapest, and we had the greatest experience. We booked a room (best price in town) and were upgraded to a suite with no additional cost, which made our experience even better. First of all, the hostel is ideally located...

Situated in the heart of the old Jewish district, right opposite one of the city's best ruin bars, nearby to an eclectic mix of eateries and restaurants, and with easy access to transport links across the city this hostel could not be located in a better spot. The apartments are kept well stocked and our room was cleaned to a...

We stayed at the Blue Danube for 4 nights at the start of July 2014, and we could not recommend this place enough! It is in a great location with bars and restaurants all around, but even with this its not overly noisy at night. And of course Sandor was brilliant, before we even got there he was helping us...

We stayed June 30th to July 4th. The thing that made it the best hostel was Sandor. He was amazing. He picked us up from the airport and gave us a drive around tour of the city. He spent an hour recommending places to visit and eat at. He also marked on the map the locations of everything he told...

Sándor picked us up from the train station for free and drive us around the area of Budapest where we were staying pointing out the places of interest. He then took us to an apartment and got us over a map to show everything to do in Budapest. Never met anyone quite so enthusiastic about his city than this guy....

Stayed summer 2013. I can't say enough good things about our stay here. Sandor was fantastic! He picked us up from the station and even gave us a mini tour on the way back. He gave us lots of good recommendations about what to see, where to eat etc. The hostel itself was in a good location and was clean...

The reason why everyone keeps mentioning Sandor here, is because he just might be the BEST hostel owner around. I made an account here just to comment on how hospitable he was. The hostel is an easy 100%, but his advice about Budapest made this my favourite experience in Europe!

After backpacking around Europe for 2 months, we were tired and ready to relax. Sandor was an amazing host. He picked us up from the train station and was warm and welcoming immediately. You can tell he loves his city. He gave us maps and told us all the great things to do in the area, including bath houses, tourist...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

“Stayed in 3 bed apartment. 2 singles and a double in one large living room. Not a lot of separation between people staying, but after two months we were all very comfortable with each other. Beautiful room.”
