The best hostel I have ever stayed at! First the staff was great, Maria and Danielle made me feel right at home. They always had suggestions of places to eat and things going on. Originally I was only going to stay 4 nights which turned into a week. I can't wait to visit again hopefully!

Great location, friendly staff, and an amazing atmosphere! Well worth staying here if you are a lone traveller as it is so easy to meet people. Within walking distance from most of the main attractions, and located close to a lot of great restaurants that the staff are more than happy to recommend.

Loved my stay at The Loft. The place is really cozy, and made me feel at home. The location is excellent, and the neighborhood map that they give when you arrive is brilliant, with lots of useful tips and great places to eat. Thanks Maria for the great map tour :) The atmosphere is laid back, and I met loads...

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Loft. We were 2 girls in an 8 person dorm room. We loved the intimacy of the place, it was the smallest hostel we stayed in on our travels (think it sleeps 24 people). Everyone was really friendly, the hostel had a really homely vibe to it - very much a 'community' feel. My...

Stayed with a group of 6 at the end of our travels around Europe. We had the 6 bed dorm that was very comfy and had loads of room which had been an issue in other hostels. The staff gave a fantastic intro to Budapest and recommended a range of things to do as well as great restaurants and nightlife....

We had a great time staying here and really made our time in Budapest more enjoyable. The hostel was ideally located, on the Pest side and near the Danube. WiFi was very good and rooms were spacious and well equipped with lights, lockers and plugs. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Very nice common area with big tv and DVD...

I stayed here with a couple of friends from uni for a few days. Not only were the staff friendly and helpful they went the extra mile in recommending places we might find of interest to visit as well as recommending cheap food options and good clubs and bars. Everyone was very friendly, both bathrooms were kept very clean and...

We really couldn't have asked for a better experience at Loft Hostel. The hostel is on the top floor in this beautiful old shabby-chic apartment building in perfect central location, about five minutes walk from the metro station and the banks of the river. On arrival we were met with a hot drink by the really friendly staff who immediately...

This was such a lovely place to stay. Really cosy and nice homey atmosphere created by the incredible staff and the small number of guests. Really easy to meet people and great communal area. It's located in this fantastic old apartment block in a really central location. The staff are so knowledgeable about local tips and very approachable. I stayed...

We read all of the great reviews about this hostel and were not disappointed. The location was great, the building was this really cool old apartment block, and the atmosphere was fantastic. We had a great time here meeting new people and having a great base to explore the city from. We stayed in the private room which was great...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hi backpacker! We are here to welcome you to Budapest and also to invite you to join our community at The Loft--a community that shares with each other, explores together and stays up into the wee hours because there is still more beer in the refrigerator and the conversation is too good to end. One that celebrates the thrill of a new city, new food and new people, but also understands the need for long, glorious, uninterrupted sleep (having spent too many nights in airports to save a euro), never ending hot water and the rejuvenating qualities of a perfect, giant couch. So if you are tired--you sleep. If you are hungry--you eat. And whenever you are ready to go outside and see Budapest, we will not drag you by the wrist to the obvious places, but we will stand beside you and help to navigate the twisting roads, quirky museums, cheap cafes and uniquely-Budapest bars that collectively are the pulse of the city. We are a small space at Loft, but it suits us and our travelers perfectly. We are simply ourselves here, but the music is always on, the kettle is always on, we are happy and most of all? We really hope you will join us. The Staff, The Loft. Our hostel workers are lovers of fine cuisine, and other such things. ... more   less
