Don't waste money on a dull, noisy town-centre hotel ! This B&B is in a perfect location, just in front of a fascinating castle (floodlit, worth exploring at night) and only 5 minutes walk from the centre but well away from the traffic noise. The room rates are very reasonable, the rooms are large and clean, and the breakfasts are...

There is not much to say that hasn't already been written here - but we honestly second all previous reviews! The location is absolutely perfect, and we didn't realize how much so before we arrived. The pension is maybe 200 meters away from one of the biggest sights in Buda, the Fishermans Bastion and the castle, which is exactly where...

We enjoyed our stay at the Budavar. The room was simple but comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the balcony. The breakfast was good. The owner was helpful. We had an early morning flight and he agreed to leave us breakfast so that we could help ourselves before the taxi arrived at 5 AM. This pension is located on a hill in...

Very comfortable, clean and roomy. Breakfast very good - we did not eat the meat one morning (not our choice of meats) and we were given eggs the remainder of the holiday (very much appreciated). Dr. Belso is very helpful and friendly. Great location. We would definitely go back and can fully recommend the accommodation

Most B&Bs are inevitably a bit seedy. Not this one. Once through the almost hidden front door on a quiet residential street and down the narrow hallway, everything is clean and bright , calm, tasteful and friendly. To get there on foot, there's a steady climb up from the Chain Bridge, and more stairs to reach your room - but...

I have stayed at the Budavar Pension on four different occasions over the last 18 months. Three times on my own and this time with a friend. Each visit I have been made to feel extremely welcome and Dr. Jozsef Belso, Innkeeper could not be more helpful if he tried. All my visits have been very enjoyable in a great...

I was surprised over the quality I met with spacious rooms. This place is much better to stay in than an average dull hotel room - a place with personality and a very friendly staff!

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
