I do not really have to say anything good to say except that I felt sorry for the staff at the end because they had to work in such a hostel. We arrived there on time when they said that the rooms were ready and we were a big group of people so were just happy to finally check-in after... More

i have stayed in a few hostels in my time, but this was definatly my favourite by far. the location was great, the hostel was super quiet, maybe not so much when me and my mate arrived. the shared living room had anything a bloke needed, fridge full of cheap energy drinks, cheap beers, guitar, internet, tv, awesome stuff.and the... Yes, great location, mostly helpful staff - but there are many other hostels in Budapest that provide this too. Yes it was cheap, but you're better off paying a tiny bit more for something better. I'm not sure if they cleaned the dorms everyday because some bread that people in the dorm had left on the floor stayed there for... More

The first hostel I have ever stayed in and it has set the standard! It was clean and relaxed place and the ammenities were good other than 2 days of the stay when the showers went cold. This was a blessing in disguise as it helped to shake the hangover quicker. The staff are what make the place, they are... More

The black sheep was the first hostel I have ever stayed in. This has set the standard for how I would expect a Hostel to be in terms of staff, cleanliness and facilities! There is a really relaxed environment and the bar downstairs is wicked! Everyone is really friendly but the staff really were 99% of the best bit. Big... More

You can't fault the Blacksheep on anything, it is an awesome hostel and I will most definitely return to it and recommend it to others. Apart from feeling like a cool place from home, the staff actually make the environment. Sometimes, you forget they are staff - especially when, they are cooking a traditional Hungarian meal with you and/or watching... More

This city is just amazing! I really loved it! The Hostel has a perfect location, right inside the Jewish district where we found a lot of bars, restaurants and night clubs. The hostel was very clean and nice. The guy at the reception helped us a lot and we had good conversations. So thank you very much again and i... More

Above and beyond service-I landed here by chance in between jobs and the staff have been fantastically accommodating with my unpredictable plan changes. A good-sized fridge, breakfast, and ability to cook food has also helped a lot. I've been in both a private room (could sleep two on the bed and maybe a third on the couch) and in an... More

That was really really nice!! Firstly, it is very cheap. At the same time, it is really clean and the staff is really nice. You can find big lockers to put your luggage and your stuff, and everyone has his/her own key. From that hostel I've been visiting Budapest walking, so it's pretty central. You can use the kitchen as... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
