Escaped the flunkeys at the Ritz and got a real welcome at the proper Carlton. Comfortable clean 4star room, interesting observation toilet but I assume that's how it is in Hungary! Room quiet despite being just a stone's throw from the chain bridge. Staff very friendly and helpful - couldn't fault them. Breakfast very good, plenty of choice albeit essentially...

Good hotel we did b&b, the breakfast had everything we wanted, the room was clean & tidy, if you are a smoker it might be an idea to get a garden room! Across the street is a small bar worth a visit or 2 very welcoming. Turn left out of the hotel & left again you will find a money...

Bugs in the room.. We were in the 7th floor.. Night workers they have no idea so be prepared if you have a late arrival.. Cleaning of the rooms "daily" is not proper.. There were bugs like that dead all over the room!! Think twice before booking this place..

A superb find, location perfect, walking distance to the main areas. Lovely little bar opposite, small but perfectly formed and such a warm welcome, we felt like regulars. Would stay again and definitely recommend.

Lovely quiet hotel ideally located at the foot of buda. Close to bus lines. Rooms are warm and very clean. Breakfast is nice, friendly and helpful staff. I would highly recommend getting a ticket for the go-hop bus and using it the first day to get your bearings. It also covers a day and night trip on the river Danube...

I stayed 2 nights in December 2016 with 2 friends. The hotel is clean and comfortable. We stayed in a triple room and there was plenty of space. The breakfast buffet had a great choice and the staff were helpful. The purpose of the visit was to visit the Christmas markets and the hotel is in an excellent location; a...

Hotel was very clean and reception staff were helpful. Hotel is situated about 50m from Chain Bridge on Buda side. We had room on 7th floor which gave us a lovely view of St Matthias church on one side and parliament buildings on other side. Hotel is on slight hill but is not a problem as you can enter and...

This hotel is in an excellent location close to a lot of attractions including a stop for the hop on/hop off bus which is excellent value for money and a great way to see the city. A short stroll from the Danube and some great shopping. We booked a triple room and I was pleasantly surprised to see we had...

I stayed four nights in the hotel and was very pleased with the place. Everything is as you would expect, clean tidy rooms and general areas. Good choice of breakfast and helpful reception staff. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the chain bridge on the Buda side. A ten minute walk and you are in the central part...

Very glad we stayed here because of the proximity of the tourist areas. However, that meant it was packed with tourists and we did not have the "neighborhood feel" we had at another hotel on an earlier trip. Staff was helpful. Rooms a bit small, but did the job. Finding the hotel and getting to the parking garage was a...

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
