I first stayed here in 2012, and every stay since that time has been better, friendy and helpful staff, great resturant, excellent WiFi in the rooms, all the information to getting around Budapest, a CBA supermarket located behind the Hotel, Southern Railway Station (Déli pályaudvar) 200m away, Szell Kalman Square 5 mins by Tram (which runs outside the Hotel to... The hotel is nicely situated in Buda with a metro station two minutes from the hotel. The reception area was large with a decent bar area and restaurant. Breakfast was fine for me because I prefer the more continental type breakfast of rolls, ham, cheese etc but not sure it would suit your bacon, eggs and sausage type of person.... More

Good hotel if you want to stay at the quiet side of Budapest. Tube right behind the hotel, felt safe even at night. you have to ask for key to open windows though and I was advised not to because of mosquitoes.

Big, mainly used by business people and tour groups passing through. This latter causes problems each morning by convoys of coaches and their cargoes all trying to leave at the same time. Breakfast, usual selection, quality OK but nothing special, coffee drinkable but not brilliant, toaster the slowest I've ever come across and it dries out rather than toasts the... More

The experience was somewhat below average. The hotel is in dire need of being refurbished. The wallpaper was coming off in the room and the carpet was very worn, giving quite a shabby impression. The service seemed fine, although not too professional. Strangely, for example, an extra bed was made in the room (already double for single use). Wifi was... More

Good double room with very comfy bed. We used the hotel purely as a base to explore the city. It's quite a hike to get up to the castle - a LOT of steps - but if your vaguely fit and healthy it's well worth the effort. There is a metro very close, a tram stop and a Buda Bike... More

A very well appointed hotel. Fantastically accommodating staff. Very close to the tram and subway. Lots of tour busses so you know it must be a great place to stay! The breakfast is fantastic with lots of Hungarian dishes to enjoy. I love the spiced cheese which reminds me of my grandma. Try it.

Budapest Buda, as the name suggests is far from the downtown area known as Pest. It's a tour group hotel for those travelling cost-saver. To get to the action, a Metro station is only a 2 minute walk. The cost is inexpensive ($1.75) and can be paid in HUF or by Visa. An easy 4 stop ride lands you at... More

The Hotel was very close to a metro station, a few minutes walk and about 20 minutes walk to the castle district. The location was ideal also for visiting the Pest side of Budapest. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
