An excellent location, short walk to bus stop and trams stop outside. On arrival the entrance and reception areas suggest first class hotel. Rooms are clean and the en suite is very well appointed. However there are a few things which bring it down. Breakfast prices at €22 are high if not included and a few things with the room...

The hotel was beautiful. We enjoyed everything. I wish It was a little closer to Duna River. Other than that everything was top notch. Super friendly service, comfortable bed and impeccable bathroom. Be sure to try one of their cocktails in the bar downstairs. It's called Orgasm and it's soooo yummy.

I would stay here again. Why? Rooms are large, clean, bathrooms had both shower and tub. There's free wifi in your room and the common areas of the hotel. In room safes, closet space was ample, a/c. It's a gorgeous, historic hotel and simply feels posh in a comfortable way. We are casual dressers and never felt out of place....

We had a large, nicely furnished room that had ground-in soil in the carpet. Despite what the "Users' Guide" for the room said there were no electrical outlets in the bathroom. The shower floor was dangerously slippery. The staff were friendly. The hot tubs and pool were great. The hotel was quite a hike from the tourist hot spots near...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
