Gorgeous hotel with first class service. Tried out the day spa which was luxurious and restful. Thoroughly recommend it at a reasonable price. The buffet breakfast was diverse and of excellent quality.

We had the pleasure of staying at this Gorgeous Hotel in May as part of our Uniworld River Cruise. The rooms were large and so comfortable. Our buffet breakfast was included and there was so much food to pick from, we left very satisfied. Unfortunately we did not visit the Spa and very sorry we didn't, as it apparently is...

Stayed here recently for a long weekend in Budapest. We treated ourselves to an Executive room, and this was quite expensive - however we booked through a UK agent and I would not recommend this if you want to get the best price. Prices in Hungary are generally much cheaper than the UK so I would consider booking direct with...

We were amazed by this hotel. Throughout our 10 day trip to 4 different countries, this was the best hotel we've stayed in. We were greeted in English by a very kind staff. Bellmen opened the door for us every time and brought all luggage to the room. The room & bathroom were flawless. The most impressive part was the...

Just got back from a week at the Corinthia, what a fabulous hotel. The breakfast buffet was elaborate...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
