Amazing hotel! Definitely worth the 5 star rating. Rooms are spacious with fantastic bathrooms. The spa facilities, swimming pool and saunas are incredible and the food is lovely. The staff are very polite and cannot do enough to help you. The hotel is also well situated within the centre of the city, only a 10 minute walk from the River...

Got back this weekend from three days at the Corinthia Hotel Budapest and it was really a highlight of our short but eventful trip (had one day in Copenhagen, Denmark). Budapest was not exactly crowded with tourists this time of year, but nonetheless restaurants and coffee-shops were buzzing with locals. If you are travelling to Budapest though, this is hands...

Very good hotel in most ways, with lovely staff. The room (4330) was huge (I think we upgraded, which was nice) and quiet, but there was an ever-present smell of drains. Also, it was far too hot. We asked for the smell to be seen to and the air conditioning mended. The second day the room smelled better (air freshener?)...

We stayed at the Corinthia for a 5 day break. A must with this hotel is to book into an executive room. They are only £20 approx. more expensive per night than then next rooms down and allow you access to the executive lounge between 0700-2230hrs. This provides free drink ie coffee, soft drinks, alcoholic throughout the day. Also free...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
